Why would gay clubs find this offensive and more importantly why would anyone care? Music/lyrics will always offend someone somewhere, the answer should be if you don't like it then don't listen to it, not oh if you don't like it then we'll stop everyone from listening to it.
This first came out in 1983. It was a different world then. Gay imagery and descriptions of sexual acts were really not in the mainstream at that time. It was highly unusual to even see straight sex images on TV. It was all VHS tapes under the counter etc, and maybe late night channel 4 or 5 for OTT in 1982 for cartoons of suggestive material! Frankie came (pun intended) along and entered the chart with relax with all its leather and rubber imagery, writhing bodies and the like, and it was banned from top of the pops. So we brought young things at the time went out and bought 2 copies just to make sure it hit number one to see what they would do. Of course, they never played it, and it was really pretty funny for the five weeks it held the number one spot. Pretty sure it's mainstream now, I've seen it on TV many times since and it's hardly even controversial. We've come a long way in the last 40 years, lol
