    How was a wildcard player, ranked outside top 100, beating the world number 1 not the biggest upset? 🤯🤯 I mean Rune was already a top 30 player coming into Paris in red hot form, beating top players in the prior two weeks. TennisTV really got this wrong.

      Can’t agree. Defeating Djokovic on Hard court is harder than Medvedev on grass, but Rune showed before, how good he can be. He defeated Tsitsipas at Rg and Zverev in Germany. Van Rijthoven never won an Atp Match before.

    Shelton was for sure an upset. But the fact that he ended his season with 3 consecutive challenger titles shows that 2023 is going to be a big year for him.

      @@bsrussian Yeah but not as impressive when you remember Djokovic was on court just 11 hours short of that Rune match, in another +3 hours marathon against Tsitsipas, and that Holger needed (also literally) +20 minutes to close out the last game of that match, where he was serving... don't even mention the fact Rune was fresh as a lettuce into that match...

    Nadal's defeat against Coric stopped his atp record of most consecutive tournaments winning at least a match, he had 60!! consecutive 1st round wins. He went from the start of 2017 to August 2022 without losing his first match.
    2017 (18) 2018 (9) 2019 (12) 2020 (6) 2021 (7) (not counting invitationals and atp finals as they are not open).

    Kozlov over Grigor or Rune over Djokovic for me. Both just insane wins. The Rafa loses we’re a little blown out of water, he was so hurt after Wimbledon. Wasn’t the same player as he was at the beginning of the year (AO,aculpolco,etc)

    Rafa post Wimbledon never got it together and lost 5 of 9 matches the rest of the year! Worst run of his career. His serve was gone.

    Literally, every time Djokovic loses a match it is an upset, as he is the favourite every match he plays. Other players losing is not that unusual.

      When I see the highlights again, I saw Dimi just play hard like he was normal. Dimi could have played cheap shots to make Kozlov run like using drop shots and such. Kozlov win was a shock, but Dimi is also a real man.

    This list shows a fundemental lack of understanding of the tour. Some of these matches shouldn't even be on the top 50. Biggest upsets of 2022 according to the betting markets: 1. Vesely df Djokovic, Dubai. 2. Bagnis df Murray, Melbourne. 3. Carbelles df Berrettini, Florence. 4. Simon df Fritz, Paris. 5. Gojowczyk df Nakashima, Acapulco. 6. Monfils df Medvedev, Indian Wells. 7. Cerundulo df Lajovic, Miami. 8. Jaziri df Vesely, Marrakech. 9. Musetti df Alcaraz, Hamburg. 10. Goffin - Alcaraz, Nur-Sultan. Overall there were very few upsets in 2022. There were only 67 matches on the ATP tour where the favourite was 1.10 or lower and only 2 of those matches the favourite lost.

      Nah that's a massive upset. One thing you can't say about Ruud is that he ain't consistent and that he loses to a lot of the lower guys. He almost always wins against the guys below top 20 or so, let alone Shelton who was outside top 150. Ruud's been very impressive on hard court this year, with the US Open final, the ATP finals final the Miami final etc it was definitely a big upset I would have actually put it a little higher on the list
