Without eating or something. They really do not wanted the player to buy those cards haha.
That fuckin' Millennium Shield... Got me about 300 wins to get a Meteor Black Dragon due to my best friend's revelation about the "secret behind the Meadow Mage". Heishin gives it in A POW, too, and that was my second one. (I obtained it after the first 2 victories against him! xD)
Honestly, Yugioh has some of the best OST in gaming. I mean listen how epic and threating this sounds. it's just amazing how it evolved from this to Master Duel's ost. It just kept getting better.
I remember I had 3 Meteor B Dragon which was the max you can have in a deck and if you used sun you owuld get the upper hand on gate guardian, beating this game wasn't so hard after I figured that out.
Meadow Mage was probably the best to face with, since he gives good cards like Meteor B. Dragon, Dark Magician, Gaia The Fierce Knight, Skull Knight, Firewing Pegasus and much more. The other mages just give you crappy cards.
You: Fuses Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon with three cards Meadow Mage: Sets a card and end the turn You: Attack the set card and see that it is a Millennium Shield Also you: Starts to hope for Raigeki ASAP
For Sogen, I would say Joey because he uses Warriors and Beast-Warriors with the exception of the Red-Eyes Dragon. The hollywood star which use Ninjas monsters and who love Mai is a good candidate too (I forgot his name) Espa Roba used this field in Reshef but I don't remember if he used the good monsters for it.
And also Skull Knight, which is very easy to power up 'cause you can give him pretty much whatever you want! Just 3 equipments are enough to beat Blue Eyes Final Dragon! xD
I obtained some Blue Eyes White Dragon after a couple of S-Tecs against Priest Seto 3rd, along with MB Dragon against Heishin in A Pow with a bunch of luck! xD About the Blue Eyes, I duplicated him in order to have 3 of 'em.

No, it's not impossible, it's just overly tedious... You have to duel these people over and over and over and over again in free duel until they drop the powerful cards. I think that was Konami's way of adding game time because the actual storyline is fairly short.

When I grind for rare cards off the Meadow Mage, I usually just enter the Meadow Shrine, leave after I’ve beaten him and return to repeat the process over and over again. It’s a little more challenging with the preset meadow field, but this music is just too awesome :D
