I was telling my daughter that the Grapevine should be there. And there you are bringing us the best views and information about this baby volcano. I could feel your excitement and happiness. You both are lucky men! 🌋
You said this would happen in Tuesday’s episode of the Grapevine. When I read of the eruption, I thought to myself “Valur was right!” Been watching it all day. It’s beautiful.
Valur and Art, this is how I started watching you nearly a year and a half ago. I have not stopped watching R G since. Always the best reporting and footage.
I love how excited Valur is about the new volcano. Not even as an Icelander is he acting all cool, as if this is no big deal. He's loving it, just like any tourists that go to see it. We love you and the rest of the Grapevine team. You've got to take Josie to see it. Stay safe!
Thank you so much Valur and Art for getting in so close so early on in what looks like phase 2 of the Fargradsfjall eruption - can't wait to see where this latest journey takes us. So much like being there it even feels hot through the camera - thanks for the brilliant vision, Art!
love that you hiked over and got the best views on day one despite it being a print week! thanks for a balanced report that conveys the facts and safety info along with the genuine joy and excitement at the power and beauty and danger of the fissure along with evident relief that it is in the best place to minimise risk of disruption to lives, infrastructure and homes! Shall continue following these reports with interest - please keep it up and would love to heat even more of the science. Thank you!
Thank you so much Valur you have brought a real treat with this video...you're like a child in a sweet shop you're so excited...oh I do wish that we were there with you...please continue with the volcano...it's the earth replenishing and adding to it's self in a most spectacular fashion...where is Polly?...I was expecting her to be with you again...greetings from Scotland🎇😁🖖🌋🎇
You mad lad, you're standing 50 metres away from a new volcano! And you got to do it TWICE! You really are lucky. Even if you live on a volcanic island. Thank you for sharing it with us :D
Awe! Valur is just giddy with joy over this new eruption! 😁🌋 Thanks guys for always doing such a great job reporting these incredible events for us all to enjoy.
Thank you for the unexpected volcanocast! Once again you are able to get crazy close to an erupting volcano. Some of the best footage I’ve ever seen of the early stages of a fissure eruption when there are lots of small vents erupting simultaneously. And you were planning a week off to get the magazine out. Thanks for putting in the extra hours.
The Valur and Art Volcano show. So glad u are reporting this again from the birth. You are both very lucky. Art will be showing us his wonderful aerial shots with your great commentary. Fantastic. Ps : get the "dont walk on the lava" teeshirts out in your shop again!!!😁🥳
What a spectacle ! The lava fountains and flows are absolutely mesmerizing. Thanks so much for the reminders and cautions about hiking in and proper gear. Ppl need to pay attention to the risks. Also the geology students! So cool to hear from them and I hope you will do a follow-up interview to hear what they've learned about this latest volcano. 🌋
We can always count on RVK to bring us the best Iceland has to offer. It’s almost like the volcano waited on Valur to come back from his vacation. What a welcome home! Fantastic footage-from beginning to end. Thank you, and remain safe.🌋
Hi Guys, Thank you for your fabulous channel. My dog Freya is obsessed with your news and of course the Superstar Polly. Freya will watch hours and hours of Polly and now demands I put it on. If only I could take her to Iceland for one of your tours but alas Tasmania is far to far away from Iceland for a little dog to travel. Many thanks (and many bum sniffs) for the icy Icelandic news and for making a little dog so happy.
VERY happy to see you again! You could not have timed your returning from vacation any better! We love your videos from the last eruption and as very happy to see you at post with this one.
This is the best video that I have seen of the new volcano. Excellent reporting as always -I can’t wait to see it myself in two weeks. Thank you, Art, for the wonderful drone footage at the end. That is your signature❤️
Valur, you guys totally stomped the competition into the lava with this one!! You got there very early in the eruption, you interviewed the scientists! BRAVO!!
Thank you Valur and Art and all those involved with your reporting. And a big thanks to the scientists who shared a bit of their time and knowledge to the video.
What an incredible sight. It’s hard to estimate the distance from the eruption but Valur looks like he’s practically standing right next to the lava. The length of the fountain looks stunning. Thank you for getting to the site so quickly after it erupted.
I love your reports - and not only about volcanic eruptions but all things Icelandic! Watching your coverage last year was one of the main reasons I came to Iceland for the eruption and returned again in March because I love the country so much. When I heard the news yesterday, I immediately began looking at flights and possible days off from work for my third trip to Iceland.
I have never been to Iceland, but my husband has. He says it is an amazing landscape. I have learned so much form watching and reading the information you provide/. I am 58, and in my Earth Science class I was told I was some what of a pyro nut because I loved to talk about the ring of fire and how the continents shift and islands burn. Now I don’t feel so silly about y fascination. Thank you fr your infectious spirit and willingness to explore and inform us all.
I saw you in the background during the coverage from one of the international news channels! It's good to see you back and gleefully reporting on the volcanoes of Iceland! Hello to you Valur, to Art, Polly, and everyone else from Oregon! ❤️
I want to get on the next plane and head back to Iceland right now! This is so exciting AGAIN! Thanks so much for being there for those of us too far away.
I am extremely thrilled that this area has come back into action. So very excited to watch your reports once again, as eight months of not hearing from you, was driving me bonkers 🤪 Thank you, for your raw journalistic poise. 😊
so glad to see you again and see how well you are doing. i enjoyed the reporting during the last volcano and your beautiful dog too. will be listening for you each day. thank you for the risks you take so that we get to hear all about this new eruption. what a great time we live!
You are so excited about this, Valur, as are we all! Thanks to you and Art for hiking out there during publication week. I also feel we are going to be friends with this volcano for a long time. Great fun!
Awesome Valur! Watching from Missouri, USA! THE volcano's back! Your back!, Polly anxiously awaiting when safe & she's back!!! Again AWESOME to meet "Bob's" extended family !!! We're all back watching through your eyes reporting from day1& the 3 scientists, your informing the world watching!! Thanks Grapevine!!!!
* Oh, Hooray!! Bob's Children are BACK.. Love it.. Kindest Volcano & Most Recorded.. I am Thrilled.. ~ I saw "Live" Volcano & thought "Rerun" until Grapevine made it REAL.. Thanks for being a Trusted Source for Iceland News ! !
This is a great example of a fissure flow eruption likely the result of a deep seated tensional fault. Great coverage! Mother nature always has her way and is awesome.
Thank you! I was here watching at an hour after it began; and was so excited- I forgot to comment & say thank you! Stay safe. We Volcano nutters depend on your RGV news coverage 👍♥️🌻
I only heard news of this eruption on 4th august - the day after so when I went searching, good old and very reliable Valur is already on the job. Thanks Valur!!! Thanks Art for the great images!!!
This just made my day. I was so gripped by everyone's coverage of the volcano last year, and already this seems so much more spectacular. I'll be wearing my lava t-shirt I got from your shop last year to celebrate the rebirth. I've just ordered a huge load of Hraun and Omnom to eat while I watch the footage. Happy days!
Yay Valur, been watching your news bulletins regularly, but it really is great to see you back at an eruption! The volcano is beautiful, what huge power. Thank you for your information on the volcano, and also to Art for his wonderful filming again.
Thank you for making an older Aussie feel like they're standing next to lava! I found your reporting incredible as I watched mountains forming and valleys disappear. As a child I had nightmares of volcanoes but am now learning of their beauty and fascination. 😀💚
Thanks for going out there and doing a Newscast so soon after the eruption started - amazing images from Art and such genuinely excited reporting from Valur. Relieved that the eruption has begun in a harmless way so we can enjoy the spectacle without concerns for the impact on Iceland and its people. Trying not be be disappointed that the new eruption happened within 6 weeks of my return to UK from Iceland.
Interesting how the magma broke through the root of that mountain. Great journalism Valur, Art’s steady camerawork and the best quality camera. Excitement in the air again.
Wow! Truly amazing. What a pleasant surprise. Looking forward to watching how this progresses along with Valur again. Greetings from Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Canada 🇨🇦
I found your channel last year when the first eruption since hundreds of years in the Reykjanes Peninsula occurred. I'm not old enough to having watched your footage of these very old eruptions 😁 (joking), but I loved your absolutely brilliant videos about the eruption of 2021. I'm not that much interested in Icelandic politics and news but sometimes I watch your and your team's videos about those topics too, and they are very nice too. And now this new eruption. I think the way you walking around with or without Polly, the morale officer, is an absolutely wonderful way to present news. It's not as perfect as if it's made in a studio, but exactly that's why I like your videos. And, a honorable mention of course goes to your camera guy or team. Absolutely great video quality. Even when it might only show a guy talking while walking with his dog. But the volcano footage is the sugar cone on the cake.❤ I briefly thought about visiting Iceland and this volcano, but perhaps I'm too old for hiking to that remote location. Your videos however make me feel like I am there in person. Have a nice day, and good luck always. 🖐👴
Was in Iceland for last years eruption 🌋 One of the most amazing things I’ve seen. Whoever gets to see this live I’m very envious. Grapevine doing a fantastic job again covering this 👍
Hello from MO, 🇺🇸, was glued to your podcasts from 1st volcano and will be for this new one as well. Thank you Valur, Art, Polly and the RG for your coverage.

You can feel the joy radiating from the screen almost as intense as the heat from the lava. I’m so happy to experience the joy in some way here.
Finally, an excuse to watch a RVK Newscast again. You are doing such a good job on reporting on volcanoes. Well done!
