It really is a different time we live in. He cleans up yards for free, gets ad revenue from TH-cam and invests that money back into his community. A true legend. Keep up the great work.
I wouldn't say he does it for free. He seeks out these properties. This has had 7.9 million views. He has made a minimum of $8,000 on this one project. This far exceeds what he would have been paid to do this. I applaud his entrepreneurship and cleverness, and this is indeed an "everyone wins" situation, but I'm not sure we should be appointing him a saint, which appears to be what most commenters want to do.
I am a disabled marine veteran who once kept everything trimmed and neat but now 66 and many medical issues I hate going out of doors in my yard because I can not do what I once could, there are hundreds if not thousands of disabled veterans like me, this community is blessed to have a young man in their community who does this. Too him and others who give time and effort freely for a good cause God Bless You
Kindness is so rare that people react to it with suspicion, assuming they're being conned. "I'm doing it because it needed to be done" is something no one ever hears.
You need a mask on; I'm a 30 year RN I know what I'm talking about plus all of that dirt, pollen, and poison ivy oil going into your lungs❗It's a wonderful thing you are doing, and I wish I could find a yardman with your work ethics. ❤
I’m old enough to be your mom so I’m sending advice from a mom. Wear a mask to keep from sucking all that dirt in through your nose and ear protectors. My husband (an electrician) is now having to get hearing aids because he never protected his ears a long time ago. Happy mowing.👏👏👏👏👏👏
Well said. I am glad. You wear the ear plugs, hope you will start wearing a mask and goggles to boot. Having had negative experiences with doing jobs when I should have been protective gear, I thought I would offer my suggestions as well.
I never understood why people who own property (that they do not live in, and cannot care for) don't just sell it and allow someone else to fix it up? Too many homes left "abandoned" that could be turned into a nice home for someone else.
Oh, wow, my mom wont sell her moms property either - but she and my dad go mow and maintain it. I just dont ask questions - but that's a thing??? I didn't know that was a thing - where people keep inherited property - jeez, I'm kind of relieved, thank you guys for mentioning
Yeah thats a new one for me but i guess people dont want to see their childhood homes outside of the family. I also think its sad to see the properties go into the abandoned title
Rule # 1, never get angry at a man with a leaf blower. My uncle learned the hard way and lost a hat once. RIP Bass Pro Shop hat, we'll always remember you.
Bro, your community owes you millions. When prospective buyers drive through a neighborhood and see lots like this, they usually cringe and want nothing to do with a home in the neighborhood. Your work raises the property value of the entire community. A rising tide raises all ships. Well done.
Though the neighbour might be thinking that he has now got the extra Greenwaste to clear that I see the gardener throwing ontop of the lawn a lawn is still no dumping ground even if the waste is green and mostly grass and soil it will make the lawn messy lumpy. I see moving one problem and making another, best bit is the gaining of a path but please for a proper job the green waste goes in the bin or for compost and not to mess up/be dumped on the lawn.
@@trevor5485 not only does he not rake he then goes and throws green waste on top from the path. Not at all right for the health and usefulness and beauty of a lawn. Damage of dumped green waste, in the garden, I lot of effort to make a bad garden still.sadly it needs more work I don't see the need to bother if the result is no progress I see no progress here because he has made nearly as much work as the work done as a customer the gardener has not helped me get a better garden he has only done 75%of the job. I would be upset on the deal to me clearing a path does not mean or inc I want waste dumped on my lawn payment is for the path clear not to now have to find someone to clear the lawn to.on camera is interesting here it is probably flytiping on technicality to leave that waste. Mulch is not random waste from path clearance as and when you want.

Do you wonder why he puts a camera? He is smart. 8.8 million views represents $100,000 USD paid by TH-cam. The few hours he invested cleaning, plus all the video editing is worth. This guy is making serious money by being kind. Good for him!!

I'm sure that's a priority on her mind if that was a thing lol. The lawn getting mowed. I'm sure that guy sure appreciated it though. His voice got real soft after he realized there was nothing sketchy going on. Poor dude is just old and it's hard work.
@@BeepBeepJohnny it's not because the lawn is getting done. this guy is doing a good, selfless deed - towards her family too - and that's why they said he will receive blessings.
I wouldn’t really call this a confrontation at all - the guy didn’t know what was going on - and within 10 seconds seemed grateful - overall just very positive all around
Its a confrontation, just not remotely angry. I've noticed a lot of people like to rag on the homeowners. Some of these get framed in a way that he's offering help and everyone else is miserable person. Where as from an outside perspective, it is very bizarre. Imagine having cameras setup on your land without any permission, and its his deceased mothers house. All he seemed was a little confused. Now at the same time, SB Mowing is doing good work, but executes the follow through and framing of titles piss poor. It gives me this weird vibe of arrogance or something. Like I am doing you a favor, how dare you question things that are strange when neighbors call concerned. My audience has my back and ill show you!
The owner might have thought somebody was squatting on his property, which can turn into a real mess including adverse possession. The owner was right to 'confront' the person on his property and good thing it turned out to be one GOOD GUY with a mower and other landscaping tools.
Great man hard work! His videos have up to 12 M visualizations but look at subscribers....very very low numbers. Why? So many People just don't care! Subscribing is not a "corporal effort"... It's just acknowledging and recognizing. Just saying.
I totally agree. If I were to do what he did for the neighborhood (and I am a lazy worm working behind my computer at home all year long), there is a real chance that it will take me a whole week to recover from one afternoon's yard work.
This tugs at my heartstrings. I'm 52 years old and as a man, as we get older, it's hard to ask for help and hard to accept help. We still have our pride. So to see you being so kind and professional to another man really meant a lot to me. You're a special person. I wish you all the success in the world.
@@subhabaskaran1849 Until you learn the value of "pulling yourself up by your own bootstraps" you'll never understand. It's the same principle as "“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. Having pride is not asking anyone for a fish, but learning to fish for myself.
Or, as he said, thinking it was a city worker there to clean it up and charge him. I'm sure you wouldn't look twice if someone started mowing your lawn.
@Curtis the Moonboy; ABSOLUTELY AGREE. I destress watching these guys doing this onderful service to strangers. THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
I am 71 and recently unusually hi snow levels had the whole neighborhood snowed in for weeks. Like you, a kind neighbor cleared snow from my gas meter to keep my gas flowing. I know firsthand how much a little kindness can mean. Thank you for doing what you do. The mower is also really cool.
That is true, im divorced and closing in on 65 I have great neighbors on each side of me to help with out side work like mowing the weed eating, cleaning gutters etc.
Assuming you're in the sierra nevada area? I'm in Tahoe and the Snow this season was honestly insane!! Super glad to hear that your neighbor helped you all out!
@Tim Cooper Having snow built up around your gas meter can cause problems if the snow freezes around the meter and forms ice. The ice increases pressure on the gas lines and gas meter and there are cases where this has caused damage to the meter. So energy companies always recommend you keep the snow cleared from around your gas meter and any gas lines that are above ground.
You have a great demeanor bro. People get nervous nowadays because no one does something for free. Well you do and that’s a beautiful thing. Keep doing you. It’s so nice to see this.
You're totally right. If someone wanted to do something 'for free', I would be very suspicious and wouldn't let them. There are too many home scams. If they said outright that they wanted to film for their channel, I'd agree.
He isnt going around helping people while not filming is he. While what he does is fucking amazing, it isnt for free. Especially with the intent of monetizing it on YT
You're a good man with a good heart, and with great Christian values. Most people would not do things like this, it's good to see. I Believe in "pay it forward" and this here is a great example of that. I hope you have continued success in your life and that your JB Mowing Company is continually successful.
God Bless you for all that you do. I’m 80 & hardly recognize this America, but you are the kind of person that once made “ America Great”. Keep it up, and maybe others will start to follow your example, maybe not in yard work, but they’ll think of another way to bring America all the way back to where it was, when most everyone gave a darn about the country their men & women fought & died for. They want to have us fighting over our skin colors, but it’s always just been the difference between our characters that really matters. 🙏❤️🇺🇸
Some people don't have any money to move so how could they afford to even do something for free? This has to have direct and indirect costs enough to stop a broke person
this guy is truly a wholesome man. Not only does he take it on himself to clean up the yard. he proceeds to ask what else they want done. Keep it up man. Wish you all the success.
Considering that he made somewhere between 15k to 40k USD just from this video alone... I'm pretty sure he has an incentive to find houses to clean up from the "goodness of his heart"... It's a win-win, I guess.
Would he have done the same in a time where he couldn't make youtube money with it? I HIGHLY doubt it. He's just one of many pseudo altruistic virtue signaling youtube 304 money makers.
@@Mamba-KushFinally, it's nice to see someone else commenting this instead of me! My info is that TH-camrs get about $4K per M views. He's making a killing financially. Good for him and some people get help along the way. But it's good to see some people see the real story.
I am not from the USA and I have a question. Why do so many properties get abandoned or neglected like this? If the owners are not going to live in it, renovate it and/or rent it out, why don’t they sell? It is sad to see places that were habitable just go to wrack and ruin. We have a housing shortage where I live and any house is snapped up when it goes on the market. In whatever state if disrepair, people will buy it and renovate to live in. Thanks for doing such a great job to keep neighbourhoods tidy. ❤
From someone who does live in the US the economy is about to crash. No one really had money and the few who do aren't spending it on repairing random houses because they're too busy buying gold toilets or whatever the wealthy do so their wealth never leaves their own family. The median home price is currently about $450,000 (I don't know where you are or I'd put in the convertion but that's an almost unattainable amount of money for the dwindling middle class and completely unattainable for everyone else) for like 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. A property like this would still sell for $2-300,000 and then you'd have to spend another couple hundred thousand repairing it and there's no guarentee it would turn out right and even if it does you've not spend $500,000 and you don't have any money for furniture or basic nessesities. Most people don't even make $100,000 in a whole year. My husband for instance is considered "well paid" and makes half that and were still living paycheck to paycheck and have no ability to save any money. We're the average situation for the most part. People like us don't even day dream about owning a home let alone fixing one up, it's just impossible with the money we have. Then there's the people that do still live in houses like this. Because of how high the cost of living is literally everywhere in the US people can't always afford to keep up. If they don't know how to handle cutting the trees and bushes themselves they can't afford to pay someone else to do it. Or of their lawnmower breaks it could be months before they have the money saved up to either fix it or buy a new one. It's called being "house poor" which just means you actually have a house and now you're broke most of the time because you're shoveling most of your income into the house and what little you aren't is going directly to feeding yourself and your family. People like that often have multiple jobs as well so when you've worked 16 hours that day you don't really want to come home and mow the lawn and cut the bushes and everything and if you actually have the same days off for both jobs most people would rather sleep in. Basically the situation is really really bad here financially and it's starting to show up in places you don't always think it would. If you go to any city there's often whole neighborhoods that look like this or worse and every house is occupied and lived in every day. SB just manages to find actually abandoned properties for the most part it seems
It doesn't help that mortgage lenders are super picky. I was looking to buy a 70k house. I had a 750 credit score and a co-signer and I was turned down by every single major mortgage company. I could have had 70k in cash and they would have said no. People paying 2000 a month in rent are turned down for 500 a month mortgages. In the end, I found a local bank and a local home insurance place. They can't afford to be picky since they don't do the same volume as the bigger companies.
Bank or companies repossess, then don't want to pay to keep properties up, same with some real estate people. Property valuations are lower for tax purposes. Also sometimes when a property becomes 'blighted' and declared that way by a city, developers get TIF money to redevelope it. Which is basically a corrupt scheme to get tax payers to fund part of their projects.
That is mighty hard physical work. What a fantastic caring person he is. I bet his mother is proud of him. He has been brought up to be a caring person and think of other people. Well done Mum you have a great son there.
@kutatm in order to sell a house, usually, you have to fix the house up to certain standards, which usually means spending a lot before you can even sell
If I was a neighbor I would have taken you drinks and baked goods to show my appreciation for all your hard work to upgrade my neighborhood. You are a absolute sweetheart!!
I often think the same, UK is no "better or worse" than USA but we always offer a "brew" to any workers. Often accompanied by a wrapped chocolate cookie of some kind. I have never seen this on You Tube but I'm sure many people are kind.
i do this for my mowers and my garbage man. I keep a mini fridge by the back door in all my airbnb rentals and when they're there they can grab anything they want from the fridge. a happy worker is a great worker
Sometimes it is hard to convince people probably due to the sentimental value and probably because they don't even know where to start (where to put those furniture and other things that they don't want to sell / evaluate what they should fix and what they should leave to the next owners, etc.). There are cases when the whole situation causes them so much stress that they simply put their heads in the sand. Sometimes these people need someone in their family to organize the whole process for them or have them facing the reality that they need help. Sometimes they do go there to cleanup on a regular basis with a plan to sell it in the future, they just don't realize that there is too much to do and they never going to complete it in their own tempo.
Seriously!!! That’s a Very Nice property for maybe a young couple to come in to and rehab. Great Project home. So much potential. The Son who now owns it Unfortunately has Zero idea of what he is letting go to waste due to his either laziness, or just plain lack of concern for that property.

@anita miller LOL😄 yup, ole Nosey Nancy across the street can't gossip about how bad the tall grass and weeds are AND how the owner's mother NEVER let the yard look so horrible. Lol😀
@John An overgrown yard invites pests into the area that might not be there otherwise and can have an impact on property values if a neighbor is trying to sell - it can have an actual negative impact on the neighbors. This yard was kind of ugly to look at but not in the category of extremely overgrown in my opinion.

Don't ever be discouraged for a good deed. The owner seemed gracious, once he realized who you were, but I'm certain that would also catch me off guard. Thank you for doing what you do. My husband is our county's zoning enforcement officer, so I know how few and far between these acts are. ❤
With a few thousand dollars I think you could get that house up to par for people to live in it, its a shame that what could be a good house for someone to live in is vacant out of laziness. I know this older gentleman has health issues but he should just pay for the issues to get fixed so he can sell the house. Hopefully getting the yard fixed will make it easier for him to sell the house.
Well this was entertaining 😂 Between the homeowner and the poison ivy most of us would have walked away. You stayed and made it look like a home again! Bless your heart 🙏❤️
The fact that you not only do this for free but also offered to walk around the property with him so he could show you everything else he would like done was amazing. The world needs more selfless people like you 💜
He gets way more money from TH-cam than he would being paid. Plus I don't know if he actually owns his own business but if so this is easy publicity. Still TECHNICALLY he is doing this for free so yea kudos to him what a chad
I have never understood why people hang on to sellable property and just let it ruin to half its worth. You clearly helped out someone in need, he prob cant physically keep it up. You totally caught him off guard with a good deed! You just increased the value of the home, judging by the looks of things he is not going to be able to help keep it up to neighbors standards, I am sure the neighbors were thrilled to see life there. I kept waiting for you to find a yellow jackets nest! if you did not have poison ivy all over you it would be a miracle. you sir are a rare breed!

@@TH-camcansuckmycock the trend of starting a TH-cam channel making a lawn care channel, is what she specifically said if you didn’t have the attention span of a squirrel. Also, to the main poster, this trend started because of money, not because of the goodness in peoples hearts.
You couldn't have picked a better person to learn from. His meticulous attention to detail amazes me every time. All the best and every success with your business.
This is the prime example why people shouldn't go around assuming. Regardless, it turned out well and you did another great job. This crazy world can use more people like you, thank you for being a good hearted person despite the reception you got in this case.
To be fair, SB didn't secure permission to work on the property. He assumed it would be OK. The front of my property is an ugly hedge of blackberry and salmonberry bushes. I would be extremely angry if I came home and you had cut it down. It's a natural barrier that keeps my kids/dogs in the yard.
I don't think anyone assumed anything, but of course, reasonable minds can differ. IMO, the neighbor did the right thing by calling the owner, the owner did nothing but ask what was happening, and Spencer explained himself and offered help. All good, all around. No harm, no foul.
@@devilman3806 Every house I’ve owned, I’ve had some sort of natural barrier just inside the property line. In one house, I had a chain link fence (there when I bought it and also enclosed an inground pool) with grapevines on it. It grew alongside the neighbors driveway which, incidentally they had built a foot onto my property and I had them sign a boundary agreement so they were definitely aware that the fence was completely on my property. I came home one day to find the wife had decided she didn’t like the looks of the grapes and vines on my fence so she cut them all down and chopped the roots! I actually used the grapes for jam and cut the vines back every year to use for wreaths. Same house, other property line (corner lot so only two lines) I had a beautiful, tall, well-trimmed hedge growing well within my property line. No part of it encroached on my neighbor’s yard. I liked the height and kept it at 6 foot because it provided privacy for the pool. Came home from work one day and it was suddenly 3 feet tall with no green on top. That neighbor decided he didn’t like the hedge, even though it was on the side of his house he never used. He had the audacity to tell me I was lucky because his original plan was to cut it to the ground!😮 In my next house, there was a natural growing hedge on one side of my backyard, not formally cut, just a series of flowering bushes such as lilacs, bridal wreath, etc. Again, it sat well within the line and didn’t encroach on the neighbor’s property. She decided she wanted to put up a fence and mistakenly believed the bushes were the property line, so she cut them all down except the three she hadn’t reached before I got home and caught her. She hadn’t bothered to have a survey first and never mentioned it to me. I showed her my copy of my survey and all she said was, “Oops! I guess that’s what happens when you just assume things.” 😮 I don’t even want to discuss my current neighbors who actually took down a portion of my split rail fence which sits 3 feet inside the property line…
@@JayeEllis I agree. Everyone acted reasonably. I do wish, though, that these angels who want to help would stop referring to these houses as abandoned, though. Most aren’t abandoned - but they ARE vacant or unoccupied. They have owners who should have the right to choose whether work is done on their properties and exactly what work is done. It’s a 5 minute Google search to find the owner and maybe another 5 minutes to find the phone number.
My wife at the time and I once spent the day clearing ice off the foot path as people were getting hurt. Several nasty little people heckled us for being responsible citizens and doing something nice. It didn't deter us, but I did lose a little faith in humanity that day. Why would you want to stop someone helping others? I just don't understand it, unless it demonstrated to them how selfish and bitter they are, for they certainly demonstrated that to us.

@mauriceharting5877 sadly many municipalities require the homeowner to keep and repair sidewalks as they are usually not on the ‘right of way’ causing the owner to bear full responsibility 😢

I never understood why people who own property (that they do not live in, and cannot care for) don't just sell it and allow someone else to fix it up? Too many homes left "abandoned" that could be turned into a nice home for someone else.
Most abandoned homes were inherited by men who can't let go of Momma, so they just keep it all.

Crickets
because you still need money to do it 😂😂😂 we are broke over here didn’t you know
From someone who does live in the US the economy is about to crash.

@kutatm in order to sell a house, usually, you have to fix the house up to certain standards, which usually means spending a lot before you can even sell
Only the sidewalks were almost done, not the whole job.

ig maybe it could be hard to see your mum’s old house go if you’ve been hoping you could come back at some point in good health to clear it up
Sometimes it is hard to convince people probably due to the sentimental value and probably because they don't even know where to start (where to put those furniture and other things that they don't want to sell / evaluate what they should fix and what they should leave to the next owners, etc.).
And the value is depreciating as the years go by too😢

This is the prime example why people shouldn't go around assuming. Regardless, it turned out well and you did another great job. This crazy world can use more people like you, thank you for being a good hearted person despite the reception you got in this case.
@YLEO Assistant Wait, you find a stranger cleaning your property and you wouldn't find that weird? Have you ever owned a property?
To be fair, SB didn't secure permission to work on the property.
He assumed it would be OK.
The front of my property is an ugly hedge of blackberry and salmonberry bushes. I would be extremely angry if I came home and you had cut it down. It's a natural barrier that keeps my kids/dogs in the yard.
I don't think anyone assumed anything, but of course, reasonable minds can differ. IMO, the neighbor did the right thing by calling the owner, the owner did nothing but ask what was happening, and Spencer explained himself and offered help. All good, all around. No harm, no foul.

Every house I’ve owned, I’ve had some sort of natural barrier just inside the property line. He had the audacity to tell me I was lucky because his original plan was to cut it to the ground!😮
In my next house, there was a natural growing hedge on one side of my backyard, not formally cut, just a series of flowering bushes such as lilacs, bridal wreath, etc. I guess that’s what happens when you just assume things.” 😮
I don’t even want to discuss my current neighbors who actually took down a portion of my split rail fence which sits 3 feet inside the property line…

I agree.
Bless U ❤
Why would anyone heckle you?

Wow, the City needs to repave that sidewalk for it is a tripping hazard! You did a mighty fine job restoring it as much as possible as well as all the yard work!!!
@mauriceharting5877 sadly many municipalities require the homeowner to keep and repair sidewalks as they are usually not on the ‘right of way’ causing the owner to bear full responsibility 😢
@@BellesDreams I think legally the sidewalk in on City property and they are responsible for installation and/or replacement. I think one could run into legal trouble if the homeowner replaced the concrete sidewalk on City property since it does not belong to the homeowner.
Now if the homeowner's property line goes right up to the street curb that would be a different story.

I found you on TikTok and now you came up on my TH-cam. I watch at least one of your videos each day and I want you to know why. You are healing me. I was in a situation that went bad.
