      Hello and gracias for your words!! :)
      I moved to Huelva now but still in Andalucia, unfortunately I rarely play in Spain, cause basically nobody pays even half of an already low fee, played way too many years for free, and sadly things don´t change, rather play abroad where people respect more what we do :)
      You have some of my music in Soundcloud.com/multiman and Ektoplazm, and hopefully this winter I will release new material :)

    wow this is really inspiring.. do you think you could do a set with just the octatrack and synths? or are the midi controllers crucial to scenes, patterns etc.. I don't own an Octa but I will soon after watching this. amazing what you do with only a few pieces of gear. this is pretty much exactly what I am aiming for.. I played a psy gig at a local bar but I don't have the right equipment (I was using a laptop and midi controller) but I hate using the laptop.. do you have any complaints about the Octatrack? looks like you know it very well.
    cheers and keep it up, this is very very good stuff.

      Very happy to read this inspires you :) the OT can deffinitely be the onky thing you need, external synths and controllers just expand that interactivity and allows you use kess button combinations... No real complaints on the OT, the manual is not for everybodys taste but once you get used to it it's a very deep machine... I also struggled years to find the right combo, cause laptops like you say kills the vibe for me.
      Wish you luck with your experimentation!.

    Great sound! I've recently been discovering the benefits of the nord modular + octatrack, and thinking of adding a QuNexus to the setup to get some more expression out of the nord. What's the QuNeo doing in this setup?

    • @MULTIMAN-MUSIC
      @MULTIMAN-MUSIC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! thanks for the comment! Yeah the Nord modular + octatrack combo is a great one :)
      The Quneo has two main functions / presets, the first one controls the Nord Modular to trigger sounds with the pads, the slider and CC values of the pads affect certain parametters of the nord modular patches to add variation.
      The second preset controls the Octatrack scenes, is a patch I made where each press of a pad moves the OT Crossfader to B position and selects one of the 16 scenes, lifting the finger from the pad moves the crossfader to scene A, which is a scene without any assignments. Very cool trick since one only push of a pad triggers a big combo of otherwise hard to select changes, and you can trigger different FX scenes in a more "musical" way with just the pads.
      I remeber posting these patches in the Elektronauts forum ;)
      Hope it helps!!

    Hey man I watched your video and I think it is awesome. I have been producing psytrance for a while but also have been thinking in leaving the laptop behind, I just feel I lose a lot of time and perhaps the OT is way straight forward. Do you produce in a DAW and then play your music with the OT and other gear or do yo think it is possible to produce full songs with the OT? It is just hard for me to imagine how to fit the complexity of psytrance and number of channels in only 8 tracks on the OT and also how to bring my current finished songs to the OT and create a full live set. You are great man! Not to many producers share knowledge and tips like you do. You have a new follower here!

    • @MULTIMAN-MUSIC
      @MULTIMAN-MUSIC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Rodrigo, firstly thanks for your words!
      Im planning to make a tutorial in how I use the OT in my livesets, only need some spare time :)
      I have allways performed live with no computer, so is a lot of work and practice but is possible, it used to be much more experimental techno, trancey, grungy... but the thing with psytrance is not only that the style is way too complex to perform live, is that most Live sets are prearranged sets where artists dance to their own music, is accepted and 99% of people don´t care if you struggle to make a real live set, so personally I feel like moving on to other styles, where is much more appreciated.
      I normally compose my music in DAW, playing with external gear, but then routing everything to 6-8 stereo groups (like stems), that goes to the OT, then live the MIDI tracks are use to add external synths, I perform with FX, new lines and stuff but structure remains intact, that way I make sure I play 90 minutes and no track gets unplayed or either I play too long (promoters don´t like that).
      For me music was about having fun, and performing live is something I enjoy more, the OT allows for tons of fun :) and is small enough to fit in a backpack. Every time I play a set is slightly different, the OT allos to make very different arrangements until you find what woeks better for you in your studio and then how it works for you live, eventually you will feel confortable.
      Long answer! I hope it inspires you!
      All the best!

    • @akratmachines
      @akratmachines 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Appreciate the tips man. I was feeling overwhelmed on how to play 200 channels of a psytrance track with the OT but now everything makes more sense, stems! I guess I will need to figure out the capabilities about the length of the samples or stems and work from there. Like you said the size and portability if the OT is amazing, definitely I'm going serious about getting one now that I have a better idea of how to do it. Looking forward to hear your new music and it's good to know that there are artists out there that do more than just pushing the play button and tweaking some knobs.

    • @MULTIMAN-MUSIC

      @@akratmachines Check the new AKAI MPC Live, looks very good for what we are talking here, something appeals to me as more accessible, and that screen... The OT has deep menu diving, and reading the manual is essential, many people hate Elektron boxes for not being easy, but I personally love them, it makes sense :)
      Glad it inspired you, and thanks again fornthe comments.
      Wishing you all the best with your live journey!

    • @MULTIMAN-MUSIC
      @MULTIMAN-MUSIC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@akratmachines Hey, quick answer, the stems are not only the let say, 8 stereo groups that make the whole track, but also different sections of the song. Imagine you have an 8 minute track, consisting in 200 tracks. I tend to work allways with groups, so Kick+Bass are group 1, all the Drums are Group 2, all synths sounds without melody go to Group 3, all synth sounds with melody or leads group 4, voices and special FX group 5, fx in and out or sweeps/woosh/rise and fall sounds group 6, all atmospheres and voices group 7... I like to leave at least one audio channel free to route the external synths, so most times I aim to 6 groups maximum, putting maybe groups 5 and 6 together... That way I can have 2 stereo signal from external synths too for live stuff.
      Now, lets imagine the track from left to right, I bounce all of the Groups so only one stereo track per group (stem), then I slice all the Stems in the same place, let say Intro takes 64 bars to complete, I cut all the stems at bar 64, then let say the track builds up up to first chorus or stop, in 128 bars, then I slice that section in two parts of 64 bars. Then the chorus or first stop will have let say 32 to 64 bars, I make that one cut too. Then Main part or A sliced in 64 bar chunks, we get to second stop, same than first one, then we go to last part of track let say another 128 bars, I would do another two chunks of 64 bars, and then Outro will be like intro whatever duration you want.
      So I dont only end up with as many Stems as groups, but each stem is "sliced" in let say 7 to 8 slices. Let say you have 8 stems with 8 slices, so the complete track is made out of 64 chunks of audio, 8 parts per stem, allowing for more variation during performance.
      Hope it makes sense lol.
      Best,
      Julian

      @akratmachines 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Julian! thanks a lot again for taking the time to reply and sorry for the late response. Now I think I have a better idea and picture about the things I can achieve with the OT, to combine even different songs combining different stems from different songs and being able to make transitions from song A to B, at least what I imagine because I still don't get an OT so I will be finding out how to make it work for me (I think the fader on the OT works for some of this purposes).
      Now I feel more confident and hopuful about the things I might be able to do, appreciate the help a lot! I hope someday soon I will be sending you a message saying "I did it!"
      People and artists like you deserve all the support! Thank you!

    looks like a fake live - the fiddling of the headphones volume even though there is no cable connected to the headphones output is a dead giveaway. The absence of noticeable interaction between your actions and the sound is another too, it's pretty obvious that synth lines are pre-recorded.

    • @MULTIMAN-MUSIC
      @MULTIMAN-MUSIC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is pre-recorded, and arranged, nobody said the oposite, there is interaction with scenes, FX and synth lines on the nord modular. The video is made of parts of the whole set, pieces from a 90 minute set, that's why there parts out of sync or un/related to the music and changes in light. The headphone holdiong is a a trick/obsession I have for stabilizing the OT since it wobbles a lot on stage due to vibrations, it makes hard to read the screen and also I dont want to press the wrong button so I tend to do that a lot, since is the only knob that has no effect.
      Anyway looking forward to see some videos of youe live performances.
      Peace out :)
