What a fascinating story! Also the evolution of cameras you used to create all those videos is amazing. Just 1 decade but such a huge difference, I wonder how it'll change in the next 10 years
Your story telling skills are another level. Gabriel, you can monetise content like this on audio books / podcast channels. I’m sure you will taste success there too.
This is, hands down, the best YT travel channel. Yes, there are a number of others that certainly have merit, but Gabriel pulls it off with a very simple formula. He's pretty genuine and packs good info into each episode. It just feels natural and it works.
I like Gabriel’s honesties like making money to look after his gramma! Coordinating disabled cleaners! The stories he tell are descriptive and picturesque. I enjoy hearing him and have mental image of his of his life and experiences. The stories are like icing on a cake of his videos! This man is a modern nomad! 20:28 what a picture!
Man, I got some extreme 90s nostalgia watching this. It almost feels like a completely different time and place listening to these stories, and you were totally in the zeitgeist of it all. Everything was so much more peaceful, carefree and innocent compared to now. (I was 14 at the turn of the century myself, so I didn't really get to experience it as an adult...)
Being obsessed with the ideas of travel for most of my life, I will say watching your videos over the past 2 years inspired me to go do it. You give an honest no frills interpretation of your experiences compared to most travel vloggers I've seen. I respect that about you and I wish you many more safe travels in the future.
This is an amazing story Gabe. Once you get the travel bug, it never goes away. I've been traveling for a little over a year and a half. Honestly, it feels like I've lived a lifetime during that time. Keep doing your thing man!
Glad you make these videos, for those of us who didn’t get to travel as much, during our “healthy years.”I especially liked your Greece travel videos🇬🇷 Ya’Sou!
I love how you had a few odd jobs here and there "like working for a friend in Hawaii, washing dishes in Alaska, and some work for your dad in Colorado". I cannot top that, but I can say thru buyouts and mergers I have worked for 3 different companies and managed to remain in the same building. LOL!! Your experience sounds much more fun.
Gabriel, As you know I've watched your videos for a while now. I think I've said it before but it's worth repeating. You are an inspiration man. How you travel pushes my level of comfort but it makes me feel like I could handle crazy situations better just by seeing/knowing you've gone through similar. And that staying in hostels and private rooms are really no big deal, and pretty awesome actually. Thank you for making videos and documenting your travels. I'm heading to Jordan next month and will be studying your series from there again before I go. I say this to a lot of creators, but I really mean it to you... Keep the videos coming. Cheers man, Dan
Why do you think that things changed significantly for you in 2015 during your Mexico - Guatemala - Belize trip? Did you start making more videos, shorter videos, longer videos etc? Thanks for this updated two part video. You are one of the first, if not the first travelers I ever subscribed to. I don't remember the year but it's been a while to say the least. Glad to see that you are still doing it and doing well for yourself!
That's probably the most interesting video I've ever watched, on TH-cam. Interesting Gabriel! You are amazing Gabriel. I definitely want to travel more, in the U.S. and internationally. If you are ever in south central Kentucky, I've got a spare room for you. You've got an amazing story and life.
Obviously your books to date cover bits and pieces, but hopefully you can make this an even longer story one day by releasing an autobiography (if and when you hang up the backpack for good - which may be never). What an awesome life you've had my man.
I subscribed to your channel in 2012 when there were like less than 5k subs and always thought something very genuine about you. I'm so happy that its grown this big.
Amazing story. You have been travelling for a long time. I am headed to London and Iceland in March so your Iceland and London videos came at a perfect time. I have been enjoying them very much. Happy travels!
That Cougar sign reminds me of a time I camped at Pismo Beach, I was riding my Motorcycle to the Motorcycle Rally in Hollister that used to be held on the 4th of July Holiday. Anyhow after I got my tent set up I went for a walk on the beach and to my surprise I saw a sign Beware of Cougars Imagine that Cougars aka Mountain Lion, aka Puma near the beach, I always thought them as desert and mountain dwellers. I cant't verify this but the next morning I heard one next to my tent, I didn't come out for awhile, a nylon tent and sleeping don't offer much protection from claws and jaws. this was around 2009 or so. I still think they are beautiful animals.
@gabriel traveler ...Nice story of hard work and dedication as you have showed us how to travel on budget by doing odd jobs and saving and travelling ..a really inspiring life u r leading there and love the way you are confident about yourself in travelling to unknown zones whereas many of us still even though want to travel are still hesitant...
I ❤️ listening to your life story! What a super fantastic man you are! I lived in Oregon for quite a few years... Once again, LOVE ❤️ YOUR BEAUTIFUL LIFE! -j
Fernie! Shame that you didn't get a chance to spend time there as it is very lovely. That entire area around the Elk Valley - Fernie, Sparwood, and Elkford and then going into Alberta's Crowsnest Pass from BC - is just flat out gorgeous.
I stayed there a few weeks at least and got a nice taste of the town. It would have been nice to have stayed there for the winter, but Jasper is a great town as well.
Jasper is gorgeous, as is Banff - both are phenomenal! I road trip through BC and Alberta each fall, and love exploring them (particularly the Kootenays). Spent two weeks in Elkford one year, which is so small you need to travel to Sparwood for a greater variety of services and then on to Fernie for a bigger sampling of civilization lol.
In 2009 when you just started taking TH-cam seriously I was freshly laid off due to the recession. I couldn’t find a job to save my life for over 2 years! I spent most of my days moping around and the highlight of my days would be when a friend would come by and smoke some weed with me. I got a crappy job at the end of 2011 then a much better one in 2012. I worked 2nd jobs whenever possible and to sum it up for the last 10 years I have been doing nothing but paying bills and saving/investing the majority of my money. I’m hoping by summer 2020 to be a full time traveler like you and live off my dividends and interest. You have been a very motivational person in my life Gabe (which btw is the same name of my old weed smoking buddy 😆) Back when I was broke and jobless I watched your videos and it gave me an escape and now I watch knowing that I will be on similar adventures soon. Thanks 👍
Hey Gabe I'm happy for you that you're able to travel with your youtube income only you inspired me a lot when I watch your video's I feel better instantly you are an honest kind person and I wish you all the best with you future travel plans If you ever plan to visit Montreal one day let me know
Great Video Gabe.. What's more impressive is you remember what you did and all the years you did it.. I can't remember what I did last week LOL... There's nothing more satisfying than being able to travel and earn $$ at the same time. Well done on your channel.. Safe Travels *Greg*
Hi Gabriel! Thanks for part 2/2 ... Amazing scenery in Ukiah, Cal. I love walking, but I'd never keep up with you..LOL.. You're living your dream and this is the only way to live..Im waiting for your next trip.. A friend said you could rent a place in Guatemala for 68.00 a month. No luxuries, just a place to lay your head.. Have you been there before or even want to go? The Mayan temples and structures are there... I've heard it's also a dangerous place to visit... That being said, thank you again and take care! 🍃☺🍃
ill like that, heck youre my new subscribed. weve made many of the same trips. i worked at the jasper motel you did landscaping for (i chaimbermaned...best memory was watching two stags rut out on the lawn-CRACK go their horns), i visited the temple of the moon and sun back in 95 on a backpacking trip through the south americas. keep on keeping on brother your an inspiration.
Also the GoPro is not in its housing or on a handle. Gabe just holds the camera with his five fingers. A steady and strong shoulder complete the scene. I watched him say that by filming this way not many notice that they are on video
such an amazing thing that you have been to Auroville when the matrimandir was being constructed.. I wonder how was it felt like those days in Auroville?

I'll never forget when you went to go wash dishes in Alaska. You hit 100K subs and were such a powerful example of humility and hard work.
Awesome, thanks Jesse!
very honest person as always. keep traveling and have a great time and bring us quality videos.
Every time I visit a new country I think to myself.. "Gabe was here."
So do I!
wow that was a good words
Cool. :)
I always learn a little bit more about your history each time you give these updates. You’re starting to feel like family. 😂👍🏽
Thanks Roy, glad to hear it.
What a fascinating story! Also the evolution of cameras you used to create all those videos is amazing. Just 1 decade but such a huge difference, I wonder how it'll change in the next 10 years

Excellent, glad to hear it.
Gabriel, you're the perfect example of what it means to "follow your passion". Thank you for all you do.

It’s always so interesting when u talk about your traveling adventures as much as u showing us your travels.
I love hearing about your life, Gabriel! We're so glad you became a TH-camr because you inspire us to step out of our comfort zone and travel more.
Being obsessed with the ideas of travel for most of my life, I will say watching your videos over the past 2 years inspired me to go do it. You give an honest no frills interpretation of your experiences compared to most travel vloggers I've seen. I respect that about you and I wish you many more safe travels in the future.

You have had a wonderful time.so glad you are sharing your life experiences..
This is an amazing story Gabe. Once you get the travel bug, it never goes away. I've been traveling for a little over a year and a half. Honestly, it feels like I've lived a lifetime during that time.

Cool man, and same to you.
Gabriel, What an interesting story. Your honesty and clarity is refreshing. Fair winds...
Good story Gabriel. You're a unique person who is very honest and open. I really appreciate that about you.
Glad you make these videos, for those of us who didn’t get to travel as much, during our “healthy years.”I especially liked your Greece travel videos🇬🇷 Ya’Sou!
Thank you for your honesty, it sounds like you've lead such as interesting life and I enjoy watching your videos.
I love how you had a few odd jobs here and there "like working for a friend in Hawaii, washing dishes in Alaska, and some work for your dad in Colorado". Cool, thanks for following all this time. That was the early days of my channel. I only had around 100-200 in 2012 actually.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos Yeah maybe it was much lesser I cant remember. Thats crazy that you've grown so much. Very well deserved.

Great story. Seriously inspiring. Thank uou for sharing your story - and the well-deserved happy ending. Keep on truckin'.
LUCKY you, being an auto-Canuck! I adore Canada and its people.
Me too.
Since you have dual citizenship, I wonder if you can alternate passports to stay in places like the Schengen zone longer than 3 months. Ever tried it?

Great stuff Gabriel, all the best for the future. :-)
Thanks, appreciate it.
Hi, how do you make the gopro audio setting ? the clearly sound without noise.
I set it on the "Wind only" setting.
Thank you!! Have fun with your journeys
Cougars on the East side, MILF's on the West. Choose your path Gabe!
Not even a cougar can stop Gabe's Exploring 😉
I’ve wwoof’d in Hawaii... I loved it
Just found your channel.. good stuff man.. subscribed
You should teach us how to maneuver Gopro while walking & getting filming yourself at the same-time ;) .. seriously
Great Gabe! Amidst those who give sermons on the benefits of travelling and sanitizing themselves through their videos yours was honest and down to earth approach. I think you being a North American citizen benefits you due to the dollar value and the value of your passport. Your videos are very helpful in planning trips 👍
Oh that long you've been traveling wow!!!you are a legend 👏👏👏❤️🇰🇼✌️
You look younger now than in 2010!!! Bloody hell Gabe lol
Haha, cool. Hopefully I'll look younger in another 10 years...not counting on it.
Road Trip! Woo hoo!! 👍🏼✌🏼
Working on it now, it's going to be a fun one.
Hello Gabriel! I found you and have been subscribed to your channel for a few months now. I enjoy watching your videos because you pass a someone who is free. I listened to your entire video and in the back of my mind I kept thinking these 3 things: 1) why is such a handsome, good person travelling alone? You showed a few photos of yourself from your days in Hawaii and there is no reason why you should be single. Do you prefer to be single? It must be quite lonely sometimes travelling without a partner. You remind me of another YTer called "Hobotraveller" and I wouldn't wish that you end up like that guy in 20 years.
2) Do you think that having a wife and say 2 kids would have made your travels impossible? (logistically and/or financially)
3)Now that you told us how (thank you), maybe you could let us know WHY you travel.
4) GOOD VIDEO TOPIC: What would you have done differently now that you have all your experience.
Thank you Gabriel. Blessings from southern Poland.
Your life is such an epic story!!
TH-cam as a full time job... that’s the dream! 😉
Thank you! Yeah it's crazy that it's gotten to this point. All the best with your own channel, I'm subscribed by the way.
Gabriel Traveler yeah I know you are and I massively appreciate your support- I’m only tiny but I’m battling to do something a bit different- we are bringing the storytelling to TH-cam 😉👍
Hi Gabriel How long will you be in Ukiah? I am going for a Buddhist retreat in the city of thousand Buddhas in Ukiah.
I left a few days ago. City of 10,000 Buddhas is pretty interesting, enjoy it.
Wow you have a great story, im happy that you can travel with your channel income! You should visit the Carribean 😁
Beautiful hike you just took. How many miles do you think you hiked just during this video? You are in pretty good shape I would be out of breath and unable to speak haha
Thanks for sharing! We are looking forward to your road trip videos.
Not sure but I'd guess around 4-5 miles.
Dude;
I was up at HSU almost everyday in 2002.
My Girlfriend was a Soft Tree Climber with Steve Sillett👍
I lived in Bayside between Eureka and Arcata.
I had the Keys to the Campus ! ! !
Did You ever hang at Toby & Jacks on the Plaza.
I am thinking about moving back up there at some point.
My old Girlfriend(51) has a farm now outside of Fortuna.
What a small World.
I am from Santa Clara born and raised.
I hate it here now.
I am here to take care of My 95yr. Old Mother.
Take Care.
Proto Pipe Man😂
I♥️Prairie Creek👍
(they need a redwood tree imoji)
Wow, cool. We might have walked past each other.
You should consider learning to sail, get a small boat and start making sailing travel videos next.
Amazing
NICE!!
Drive down to south Texas, I'll host you guys
