Another cool video Walter. I got my first knife from my grandfather. When he passed, he had a whole box of old knifes with mine, my brothers and cousins names taped to them. He also had an old machete he gave me. I understand how your client feels, and I really think you did a wonderful job not only on the knives but also paying a small tribute to his grandfather. Well Done.

Damn, Walter, you are an artist. I always thought of knife making as utilitarian. Grandpa would be proud that his family thought so much of his old working man's tool.

Turned out nice. That's a Army issued WW2 Machete. My Grandfather fought in the Aleutian Islands 43,44 then Rhineland and Central Europe. He traded his Collins and a Hershey bar to a British soldier for his 23inch Greenshires made in sheffield England. Papaw said it was better metal and shorter so it didnt get caught up on stuff while walking thru hedgerows and bushy places.

I had a 12 inch Dexter sani handle one of many knives I used in 45 years of cooking/Broke the point about 2 inches back on the Dexter. Took it in the garage on my grinder. The blade is stainless steel. I sharpened the front straight up and down where i broke it and sharpened the edge. I have two wheels one coarse and one smooth. I use a piece of wood that is cut a 11 degrees for the first sharpening and the second one is 15 degrees laid on the grinder. The finished edge is extremely sharp. It is about 10 inches long and i have used it to cut meat and to chop small trees. It has a thin spine so I am very careful when chopping. I am looking for a machete sized knife to replace it. Sorry for the long post just wanted you to know I view many of your videos and I find them very informative.
