I Love your space and I understand what you mean about your view. It looks like neighbors are out front and so it gives you more privacy with rays coming in colors that enhance your chakras. Bravo!
Thank you. One day I'll make my glass wall too. I enjoyed your thoughts about childish playfulness and the memories of childhood and family love. It's not just the wall incasing the objects, but your emotions, remembrances, surprises for the visitors... Thank you
I would pay you just to spend time in that room. I would pay a lot of money just to hang out there alone or with you or just with your dog. What a cool place!!! ❤
Joy, thanks so much for the video. I am entirely inspired but am quite intimidated by making the cement to bolster it. Would you consider making a video to show us how to do that please? I am not clear how you used the gaffer tape for example. Thanks so much for sharing your art. Keep up the good work. It's ace :)

I love this so much. Everything about it is just amazing and fun and magical. You and your creativity are such a gift. 😊 I would love to sit in the glass room and take in all the treasures. ❤
A beautiful imagination created a fabulous space. The hide away aspect allows you to focus on the light so that when you emerge you still have another differently beautiful space to enjoy. I'm so glad you pursue your imagination and what gives you joy. So many people say such exploration is quirky or too different but I have hope for my flights of fancy, having seen you turn yours into " your " world. xxB
I have just found your TH-cam Channel when looking for decoupage tutorials and happily found lots of useful information. Your work is amazing and very unique. I decided to start from the beginning of your postings and have just watched your stunning glass wall. I really love all the quirky little bits and pieces inside of the larger glass containers. You are so creative, inspirational and like your name bring joy to each and every video. I am keen fan who will be watching each and every posting you make. 🌈🌈🌈
I think we need a tutorial on how to decorate our over stuffed chairs! Amazing wall and so very very beautiful. You could spend hours enjoying it! Ideas to create something portable to sit in front of windows? Other than a huge rectangle?
Fabulous glass wall. Did you also cement the back side? How did you keep your bottles in place while the cement was drying? I heard about the rods and wire. I think your domes are cool in your wall too. How deep is the wall with the pieces? Have any broken from the sun? I have lots of perfume bottles and this could be a very fun project. Thank you so much for sharing. I have enjoyed your videos.
Just went from the glas vases video over to that one. I have never seen something like that. Just taken away trying to look through the glas while your camera goes over it. Would love to do someting like that. However, too early I just watched the video. All that information has to sink in. Too early to think about trying to mimic something like that. You are really an amazing artist. I need to re-watch this over and over again. Since all of this room is sooo well thought cosy, light and comfortable. I am really blown away by this room. What a great masterpiece. Thank you for sharing.
@@joybellart4727thank you for your response, yes, looks like a super happy place. This was a great video abd i love the glass wall! I saw some glass beads I think to the right that were so colorful and beautiful. I'd like to see those maybe some time. Thank you for sharing this with us. Very cool. And i subscribed 😊
Dear Joy Bell, I love your Glass Room, it's so beautiful, especially all the colour and light that comes through the coloured glass pieces arranged along the glass wall. You're so talented Joy, and you built this room yourself!!! WOW! I've only been watching your videos for a short time but I'm already hooked on what you create, especially your reverse decoupage work on large vases and bowls. I've never done it before (I do traditional decoupage on old trays and pieces of furniture, using the iron - on method, which makes the decoupage paper lie flat against the piece you're working on) but I would love to try it and I was wondering how to begin. A friend of mine has a pug dog who I adore and I'd love to do a reverse decoupage glass plate with an image of a pug's face at the front, with the body of an old man or maybe a woman wearing a tightly corseted dress! I love surrealist elements in artwork, and I've noticed that you include a lot of those elements in your work. It reminds me of the surreal images by Terry Gilliam from Monty Python - remember him? 😅 He did all their surrealist cartoons and still images. Anyway, could you possibly let me know what sort of projects you would recommend to a beginner like me, and where can I find some of those books you use that have all the lovely illustrations/ images in them? Thank you so much Joy Bell. Love from Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia
Thank you Amanda, lovely comments….my images come to the old school way…library’s and expensive arty book shops….I aimed for the older images for copyright purposes but they are the best anyways😉 have a look at the older botanical/ animal art books in the library and get inspired…most of these cost $80 plus here. The trickiest part of the reverse decoupage is diluting the PVA glue so that when it dries behind the glass it doesn’t look shiny like a plastic….it does dry clear anyway but not diluted enough is not good…almost so runny that it retracts in balls and disappears on the paper is best and three swipes of this amount of dilution will give you adequate adhesion. Once you sort that out you are good to go….practise on a waste piece of paper ( has to be laser copy not ink jet) on some waste glass to get your dilution right. My first project if I was you would be a flat glass saucer/ plate so access is easy and no rounds to contend with. If you do go for a fish bowl shaped vase keep the images smaller and good luck…my glass room is my greatest achievement and I have breakfast there every morning, cheers, Joy
I just came across your video on TH-cam, I am just in awe of your mesmerising glass wall I wish you were my neighbour, you have the same taste as I do and I'm sure the rest of your house is amazing, I wish I could do my house up the way I want it,nobody gets you if you are the arty type and they are not
Hi Catherine, the cement part is important...as in use cement adhesive not cement ( which is generally a mix of cement and sand and often referred to as mortar) general cement can expand/ contract ( esp in extreme weather fluctuations) and crack the glass, this happens to glass bottle walls with the thinner bottles used and mortar between them. The cement adhesive has polymers and other additives that makes it more flexible and when mixed with water is ‘fluffier’ as opposed to mortar or cement feeling heavier ( like wet sand) the bag I use in the photo is mid range and costs approx $80. Hope this is some help, cheers Joy
Wo-o-ow-ww!!😍 this is so unique and imaginative. I am going to refer his to some our amateur artists groups. Thanks for sharing your ideas with the world 👍. Greeting from Mongolia.
Hi Susan, the stiffness of the mix...more like putty, helps. It is fiddley and messy which is why you go slowly to control the process...any smears on the way are best cleaned when it dries, I tended to flick them off the glass with a blade...etched glass os the worst! Hope this helps, Joy
Congratulations on your first video! I enjoyed watching it very much. I love your glass wall so much, it is wonderful. Also love your curtain, it is perfect for the room.
Thankyou for your kind words! No, the bottles and objects are whole... so the outside is almost identical to the inside. I will be showing the outside of the glass wall in an upcoming video when I show you round my garden, hope you can hang on til then! Cheers, Joy

Wowowow! It’s extraordinarily beautiful! Thank you for a detailed description of your process. My question is: how did you protect your room and the project from inclement weather during those 2 years of construction? Thank you!
Good question! It was a bit nerve wrecking as the glass pieces were somewhat secured with the stainless steel wire awaiting to be committed with the concrete adhesive mix….but on windy nights I could hear them tinkling in bed! The weather as in rain came in as it usually did before I started so that wasn’t an issue, the predominant wind here is a wicked Westerly which the wall faces so that was the main concern…I left some small ‘blowholes’ so the wind can get thru and it has withstood some severe weather during and since. No earthquakes but a lot wind.

Hi Julie…I do LOVE my glass room, it’s my reward time to sit and relax! The bead curtain took a heap of beads and I collected them over time from broken strands from op shops to new bead import shops….the best score was a bulk lot of bugle beads from the 1920’s, glass cylinders for lampshades. These made each strand look more like a ‘waterfall’ and took up space quickly. I strung them on thick fishing line which does slightly stretch over the years but withstands weather and kids attention…the odd pull. One surprising element was when drawn closed over the wet season it manages to stop 80% of rain coming into was is otherwise an open door. It has 160 strands and is easily cleaned with a bucket of warm soapy water…when the sun hits it the whole house is like a rainbow and my grandson runs around trying to catch them, cheers Joy
Yes, that’s a heavy glass bead curtain on strong fishing line...about 160 strands that took years to collect. I close the beads in the winter and the rain bounces off it...stopping 90% from coming in!
