    Door Reinforcement Kit - Door Armor
    amzn.to/4aF2v2v
    The Door Reinforcement Kits come in white, oil rubbed bronze, and satin nickel. I prefer to match the door color as much as possible (white in the case of this demo), but many prefer to match the hardware. This is one of the best ways to burglar proof doors.

    Really good you pointed out skipping the pre drilled holes in your video isn't a good idea! Not just for ease of installation but primarily to prevent splitting the wood. That just makes it easier for the bad guy to kick it in. Thanks for sharing this installation kit and including the link to it!

    That Door Armor kit comes with a square head bit. Also, you are supposed to use the hinge reinforcement plates on the bottom two hinges. If someone is kicking the door, the most force will be in the middle and bottom, not on the top.

    • @NOYFB411
      @NOYFB411 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The kit comes with top and bottom hinge protectors. You missed at around 6:30 he mentions he installed both. For vid purposes he only showed installation of top one.

      I understood your comment. You're basically saying only need the lower hinge reinforced because that is where most force will be applied. I'm saying kit comes with both upper and lower protectors which makes sense.

    Very informative video. What about reinforcing hinges on the door with door wraps (similar to 2 wraps attached on the opposite side of door) or some other way? Wouldn't hinges just as easily break off from the door itself, if someone kicked the door where hinges are attached, thus making the hinge reinforcement only on the frame almost pointless? Are there hinge protectors for the door itself (other than using longer screws)?

    Can the metal be painted to match a painted door? Would it need a special primer? We’ve got a dark blue/black painted front door with a white frame; was thinking I’d get the white kit and go straight over the sections that wrap the door/bolts itself with the leftover door paint.

      I would for two reasons. First, I wouldn't want to spit the jamb. Secondly, it can be difficult to get a 3.5-inch screw into a stud without a pilot hole. I wouldn't want to get it in most of the way and have it bind up.

    • @LocksmithRecommended
      @LocksmithRecommended  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      4 long screws to secure it and distribution of force across a bigger area. If you just put 4 long screw into the hinge, you'd be giving yourself a HUGE improvement but the screws are all very close together so in a forced entry the force is more concentrated on a smaller area. The hinge guard puts additional screws further out to spread the force making it even harder for forced entry. Of everything, they are in my opinion the least important so long as you are using longer screws in the hinges.
