It's nothing short of amazing how many options we have for the ole' C64.

this eliminates the need for cassettes..i just bought a commodore64c from ebay and this seems a far quicker way of loading games etc.

It's a pity it does not support multi d64 disks. Otherwise it would be the best solution in this price range.

using DirMaster you can put those multi-D64 disk games onto a unique D81 disk image but only if those games haven't custom fast loader or any option for disable it (some games has that option during loading process), nevertheless there is a huge EasyFlash cartridges conversions collection of D64 multi-disk games available and a lot of cartridge exclusive games that can be played on to a KFF. so D64 multi-disk option isn't needed it.

I have a KFF and a SD2IEC. Do you think a Pi1541 is much better than the SD2IEC?

Hmmm, tricky. I feel each has their place. The Pi1541 is a cycle exact emulation of the 1541 drive so in this area is better - imo. If you've got a spare Raspberry Pi laying around and looking for something to do with it, then anything C64 related is always a fantastic use😉 There are so many Pi1541 Pi hats available either to make or purchase ready made. Here are two variations that I've built: th-cam.com/video/pp1uxvehzjg/w-d-xo.html & th-cam.com/video/Z7LgxNULqmk/w-d-xo.html The second one has a built-in fast-loader and only requires a Pi Zero.

If you want to run those amazing demoscene disks Demos then you will need a Pi1541 for sure, due to those custom fasloader embedded in that programs only working on a real thing or a cycle exact hardware implementation such as Pi1541.

Thank you for your video! very informative!. I just purchased a C64 with many accessories. It does come with a Kung Fu Cartridge as well. When I insert it - it loads Galaga, I am able to reset it and then it loads it again however I am not able to access the Menu. I did take it apart and made sure the button 'clicks'. I press the Menu but nothing happens. Any tips? thank you in advance!

The cartridge will load what ever was "flashed" last to it. Not sure how it behaves without a microSD card or if it can't read a microSD card (not got my C64 out at the moment to test). Could it be that it isn't reading the microSD card? Ensure it is formatted for FAT32, so maximum 32GB partition on the card.

Push the middle button (menu button) if it doesn't show the menu browser then something wrong happens with your KFF hardware, maybe a faulty button on your unit...

Thank you for the video, question what size sd cards can you use in the Kung Fu Flash? What is the largest sd card you can use ?

As the microSD card needs to be formatted to FAT32, it must be less than 32GB. I used a 16GB card in the video. With the size of most games being only in the KB range, you'll fit thousands on there.

I've tested even a 64GB micro SD card formatted with fat 32.

@@iNimbleSloth is there a place I can download them so I don’t have to open my sealed games?

@@fortvalor I can't link to copied games on here, but if you Google for C64 downloads, d64 files, you'll find some. There are also a bunch of new games, some for free some are paid at itch.io
