- Hereby hangs a tale. When Sepultura were touring for 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘰𝘴 𝘈.𝘋., “Percy Armstrong,” our beloved semi-insane vocalist, was serving as metal director for the college-radio station WYRE. He would regularly talk to label representatives and occasionally was able to secure in-person interviews with bands. The interviews always had to be conducted at the venue where the band would be playing, since he didn't want the musicians to report back to their label what a rinky-dink outfit we were. (I distinctly remember the panic when one rep insisted that Carcass come down to our “studio” for an interview-the whole promotion had to be turned down.)
By some satanic miracle, an interview was arranged with Max Cavalera, to be conducted just before Sepultura's performance on March 25, 1994 at The Rave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. “Percy” would conduct it himself, though “The Judge and Jury” and I (The Artist Formerly Known as Damien Porkmallet) would tag along. (Unfortunately, the recording of this interview hasn't survived.) To our surprise, we were allowed onto their tour bus for the interview (and, no, it didn't smell like weed in there), as though we were some kind of legitimate music journalists, and not just schmucks from the two-bit radio station of the American version of Scumbag College. (And it was literally a hole-in-the-wall operation: it was run out of a converted storage-closet.)
After the interview was over, we asked Max to sign a few things. I handed him my copy of 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘥 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥 𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘦 and he said, “What's this?” He had never seen it before and knew nothing about it, so he looked it over a little while. (The scan of the cover art at the beginning of this video is of my autographed copy.)
As an additional complication in current times, the structural integrity of this release cannot be maintained here, as, by TH-cam's rules, even without monetization Track 3 Inner Self Live in Barcelona 1991 is “blocked in all countries.” But four fifths are better than zero fifths, aren't they?-sure, unless we're talking the amount of your penis chopped off in a freak accident.
Tracklist:
1. Dead Embryonic Cells - 0:00
2. Drug Me - 4:32
3. Inner Self Live in Barcelona 1991 [“Blocked in all Countries”]* - 6:22
4. Troops of Doom Live in Barcelona 1991 - 6:36
5. Orgasmatron Live in Barcelona 1991 - 9:32
FAIR USE, obviously.
[*Note: for reasons unknown, live footage that includes almost all the audio of the blocked track can be seen at • Sepultura - Inner Self... ]
i still have this CD, love it!!!
Cara isso mim lembra e década de 90, em que curtia está banda maravilhosa que é Sepultura show melhores anos e década.....
These guys knew how to play live
If they had signed to Earache instead of Roadrunner, they would have been on the Grindcrusher tour...
My favorit the song 🤟🤟
Never heard the second song. Thanks.
You're welcome.
Drug Me was amazing.
I'm not sure where you can find it, but there's a studio version of Drug Me.
It was re-released in 1997 in the album "Blood Rooted", a compilation of B-sides.
A cover para ''Drug Me dos DEAD Kennedys'' ficou brutal, perfeita execução dos caras... Inhuman Nature do Final Conflict é outra que ficou pesadíssima também.
Ha
Still got this on VHS.👌👌🤘🤘
And I've forgotten who actually owns it😁😁
Excelent 👌
Awesome back story, and this photo of the band is one of my all-time favorites. I've got it on an OG tour shirt. Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it! Meeting Max will always be a fond memory.
the album where Sepultura officially jumped the shark. in 1992 they were the best thrash metal band in the world. the following year; boring ass groove metal. too much Pantera in the tour bus.
Those first four albums (and the EP of course) are on regular rotation in this house, so the other day I thought "Maybe I should give Chaos A.D. another chance?"
I instantly realised why I don't listen to that album or anything that followed. Such a shame.
I certainly don’t disagree with you on that point. One of the better Thrash metal bands ever
I don't listen to anything post-Schizophrenia.
They started off as Black Metal. Then became a Death Metal band, then a Death/Thrash band. And then a shitty wannabe radio band.
You're not wrong. I remember what that was like. Pantera drove a stake in the ground. At least in terms of who was going to get rich. That's not their fault though rather the lack of listening diversity of the average headbanger of the time.
My favorite song
Falou tudo !!!
Falta inner selfs!!!!
SEPULTURA!!!!🎉😅
If you only know they're early shit from the reissues, you missed out on the Carl Orf intro to Morbid Visions...
How did you acquire this Australia-only release living in Wisconsin back in the early 90's?
I got it on import through mail order. I can't remember the name of the company--it might have been Slipped Disc.
I think I had this on cassette - from Perth I is
@@CuzjuddI found this album on the side of the road in Bullcreek a couple weeks ago 🤘🏼
Sorted me right out
I had the original pressings of the Cogumelo albums, in 1990.
If you don't know what Cogumelo was, Google it.
2024 LFG OH!
THRASH DO BRASIL CARAAALHOOOOO!!
🤘🔥🇮🇩
Porque Inner Self é bloqueado?
Quem detém os direitos daquela gravação específica da música não permite que ela seja usada no TH-cam.
I remember seeing this on the shelf in Australia, another money grab from Roadrunner no doubt
Max is from the favela.
Really?
Their father was an Italian politician, who left their mother when Max and Igor were kids.
They saw street sweeps firsthand.
But...what about inerself?
TH-cam would block the entire video if that was included.
@@SatanicToupee why?
@@rodoxxs6134 We were not told why exactly. Originally this video had the full version, but after uploading we were told that we were not allowed to post it. TH-cam has automatic song identification that finds any video with music that has been submitted by an artist or label. Four of the songs here came up with a yellow dot next to them, which means that they can be used only if the video isn't monetized. Inner Self came up with a red dot next to it, which means no use is permitted to us--hence we had to re-edit the video if we wanted to be able to post it. We assume that different companies own the rights to different songs--or different versions of songs. See the description to the left for a link to live footage of the blocked song. Why that is allowed to be posted we couldn't tell you--go figure.
Copyright bullshit.
Ахуенно!!!!!
Valeu,Satanic!
De nada, Eu!
I had this cassette!
Some A-hole stole it though.😡
Negative economic externalities possession
All these tracks are now on "The Roots Of Sepultura" - so this EP is nothing special anymore.
Still sick they did a version just for aus
Except you aren't stuck with the shitty muzak. So yes it very much is special.
