It was one of my favorites growing up
One scene I remember is when Jonathan's character uses the women's restroom, while Rodney stands guard outside. When an old lady tries to enter, Rodney covers up the "wo," so that only "men" shows. The lady laughs about how she almost went into the wrong room, as she goes into the men's room. A few seconds later you can hear her screaming. 😅

I loved this movie as a kid.
All this time I thought it was a comedy, when actually it was a movie ahead of its time about a trans athlete being allowed to compete according to her preferred gender-and COMPLETELY crushing the competition. Go equality!

Just rewatched this, I liked it as a kid but as an adult I find it odd. Why is Rodney Dangerfield playing the roll of a young professional when he was like 70 years old in this movie? 😂😂
He plays a sales rep trying to get promoted to the head of the sales dept. From my experience, the grey beards were the best salesmen. The oldest hotshot i remember may have been 68.

i love this movie from my childhood and i miss Rodney Dangerfield & Johnathan Brandis the reason why this movie was a flop in theaters because the late Rodney Dangerfield was too old to play a stepdad to the late Johnathan Brandis'role Matthew the late Dangerfield born in 1921 he was 71 and the late Brandis was born in 1976 he was 16 at this time so that means he's old enough to play his grandson and the late Dangerfield was too old for Mr Belvedere's Ilene Graff's role Bess as his love interest Graff was born in 1949 that she means 43 while the late Dangerfield was 71 at this time so that means he's old enough to be Graff's father
I mean... I don't know if it was a flop because of that. Seems like unless you were a Disney movie in the early 90's, these early adolescent/goofball comedies didn't really stand much of a chance. I do remember it being on TV often when I was a kid in the mid 90's, and Im sure it did okay as a VHS purchase for families, although I don't have any data to back that up. It was a nice little comedy for families and young teens, but I don't think even the people that MADE the movie thought it was going to be a hit. Lastly, yeah, Rodney was entering his early 70's sure, but traditionally younger women in their mid 40's-early 50's did settle with older men, sometimes MUCH older than we see these days (lets keep in mind this was 1992, almost 30 years ago). So I don't think audiences had any issue with that age gap, if I had to guess.

You're upset they didn't make the comedy film even less realistic? 25 years later and there are still this very moment men pretending to be trans to beat up women in female MMA, it's also happened at the olympics. I'm not just stating the obvious that a trans woman is probably stronger than a biological woman, but in one case it was a man who doesn't even consider himself trans, he did said it was a 'health condition'. Reality isn't empowering. Life isn't empowering. Just laugh or get the fuck out.
