    This is really helpful, I’m getting my knee done next week and I’ve found it impossible to find any good first hand experience advice on how to deal with spots that bend. Hoping I don’t have too much peeling on the edges if I’m careful enough but its nice to know that if I do I won’t have to remove the entire bandage.

    I'm 2 days into my aftercare routine and I gotta say I'm not impressed with saniderm as much as everyone else is. I had a tiny leak take out a stretched out overworked edge yesterday morning and that was just from sleeping. The whole top of my derm let go from 1-5mls of fluid build up. Today I don't even have any fluid at all and the top is still letting go on my brand new replacement derm. I don't have another piece so when it goes it goes. I'll go back to gloves, sanitary seran wrap from my aftercare kit, and paper tape next time.

    My artist told me to just leave mine on for 4 days before taking it off. I don't really have a lot of seepage for being almost 2 days out from having my tattoo done. People keep talking about taking the saniderm of after 24 hrs and redoing it, but i wasn't told to do that. One guy in the parlor made a comment about "you're gonna have a huge sack"... Well...i don't. Should i be concerned? Should i take it off and reapply even though I'm almost to the 48 hrs mark? 🤔 It's not really bothering me but the area where stuff is coming out is sensitive. I don't wanna mess it up trying to take it off early.

    I have a question I would like a non biased response. I have a tattoo artist who has done all my work. On tattoo number 4, I encountered a rather distressing situation. The start was great and no different from my 3 previous tattoos. The tattoo was on my upper arm/shoulder he had me lye on my side, after a few hours my muscles started to spasms. I also had a hot flash and my skin got clammy. The artist started to get irritated with me. He kept telling me to relax and stop sweating because I was making the stencil come off. I told him I had no control over this. I asked if I could change positions to see if that would help my muscles relax. He became angry yelling, calling me names and slamming equipment around. We tattooed for about 45 more minutes before he became enraged. He refused to finish the outlining, used alcohol to clean the skin, refused to apply any aftercare stating I didn’t deserve it. I asked how much I owed and he would not give me an answer, so I paid him $1500. I was pretty scared by this time and tossed it onto the counter. He screamed at me to get out. I love his design and I am really upset I do t even have a completed outline. I don’t know what to do, do I go back for him to finish, try to find someone else to finish or just have an unfinished tattoo to remind me to never get anymore ink, as I has left me with PTSD.

      That’s actually horrible to hear I’m sorry to hear you had to experience that especially with someone who has done your previous work with none of that happening before. But it’s SUPER unprofessional and he should be ashamed for how he acted towards you. Totally unprofessional and just straight up dick. I’d try and finish the piece just so it’s completely done and cohesive but after that I’d maybe look for a new artist because that’s just messed up

    • @justinkd
      @justinkd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      So you’re supposed to remove it and reapply it after 24 hours because usually there is weeping and fluid buildup but if you don’t have that happening then I’d honestly just leave it on. I’ve had great outcomes from doing this but only when there isn’t any buildup underneath. For you I’d probably use it because of your job but make sure it stays on after reapplying it (if that’s needed)

      Hi there. In my experience, Saniderm (when used properly) really helps speed up healing and helps you get back to living your life in the first week of healing by acting as a protective layer. It doesn't actually peel off your skin if you follow the directions; you only see the dried plasma or fluid come off with the bandage after a full seven day application.

      Let me be clear on this. It didn’t do anything to your tattoo. It’s more your artist that just didn’t go deep enough in certain areas to have the ink settle where it’s supposed too. That’s why you lost a lot of ink. Saniderm is anything would take the first thin layer of skin that’s healing off (&where you’ll sometimes see ink sticking to the sheet) a tattoo is supposed to be deposited into the dermis which is about 2mm below. No way it’s attaching and taking off that much skin with ink.

      @@justinkd I appreciate your input. The tattoo is still pretty fresh (~1 week) so we will have to see the finished product once its 100% healed but there are parts of the tat where I can see that skin has been removed and detail has been lost. It is a full hand tat, similar to what you've shown in this video (which i know are a b*tch to heal) but i am definitely freaking out as ive never used this method of healing before and seeing patches of skin missing is definitely frightening!

    All these people in the comments… “old school way, mine are fine” okay. Cool. But there are people who work in the restaurant industry or places where it can get dirty OR it’s just inconvenient for where you work. So.. yes, it works great for SOME People. If you don’t use this and like the old school method, why are you even commenting or watching? Lmao doesn’t make any sense.

      I think some just are so opposed to change or trying something new

    Nice! I had the corners come up on both sides so I patched it. Then thought hmm what if that wasn't the best idea 🤔 but it sounds like it was!
    I highly recommend asking your tattoo artist to take an xtra strip of saniderm home with you. I've always had them be cool about it. You've paid a bit for your tattoo, and they want it to heal best as well! So they don't feel it's asking for "extra free" or anything.
    Ask em! 💙🩷

      And how you said sweating! Yup. It's summer, I was hot and sweating. I took a shower that was too warm. Got out and my saniderm was coming off. Don't take hot showers! Shower is fine but I over did it 🤦🏾‍♀️
