Well said…. And as a navy veteran? They’re not all so cool….believe me! But many really are pretty relatable and many have come up from the ranks…which is neat.

From my experience in the Navy, most skippers are like this. The ones that can't keep their egos in check get relieved pretty quick and you really only see that attitude with the junior officers.

Please thank Captain Davis for allowing us to visit him in his quarters. He seems to be a down-to-earth guy. I imagine that the crew loves and respects him.
Also, I wanted to let you know that your vlogs are great! I've watched every one and always checking for new ones.
I have one question though...I understand that it's possible for a freighter to carry up to 12 paying passengers. Have you ever been on a freighter that has had paying passengers on board? If so, what does the crew think of that concept? I would love to do that sometime and I promise that I wouldn't get in the way.😊

This video came up out of nowhere and was well worth the view. Back in 2002 I had the opportunity to tour an FSO while in dry dock for refurbishment in Vietnam that had been earlier converted from a Russian super tanker built in the 1970s. The most interesting part of the tour was the bridge still in its original configuration and the crew living quarters which while not so spacious or modern seemed rather cozy. Thank you for posting this and to the captain for his hospitality.

Nicely done Joe, getting the 'Old Man' to agree to this is no mean feat !
FYI for your viewers, there IS a reason the recliner is where it is. The Master can easily glance out the window to gauge the weather, how the seas are running (especially when she starts 'working' in heavy weather), and of course, a clear view looking forward and to starboard (most of the arc of the 'Green' sidelight).

You know Joe, When I was young - just coming out of school - I never considered ship working as a life, and I wish I could go back in time and follow that career. So many youngsters today are leaving home and racking up a bunch of debt keeping themselves clothed, fed and a roof over their head. I still feel the effects of that 20 years later. Seeing the captains quarters, and you've shared your accommodations before, I think that is completely adequate, and comfortable enough for anyone, and if I had such accommodations as a young man I would have been completely happy to keep my money in my pocket and live on board. I suppose the trick is to live frugally when on land as well - your idea of an RV is such an adventurous outlook. Good job, mate!
