Nae moui pe a e kakai Tonga i he kuonga koee o ikai ha infectious desease until the civilisation moved to Tonga they brought desease. Now money is the driving key of all things. Tongan people are very resourceful people and very creative, if we engourage them to go back and use their own resouces instead of the western, we will ok. If we look at the maori indigenious they have been struggling with the western deseases and other things. Civilisation and colonisation is good sometime, but not all the time.

It disgusts me how the European tourists , obviously well off comparatively speaking *"NICKLE&DIME" the vendors! I used to run a FLEA-MARKET stand -I made much more money selling the GOOD-STUFF to other vendors; the crapp I would have disposed of I sold to the *N&D crowd -after 3 yrs of doing it;making my money & some . I got out -I HATE N&D cheapoo's ,it could be FREE and they still offer only 1/2!!

THE TRICK I would teach these people an AGE-OLD MARKETING TRICK IS put a few EXTREMELY OVERPRICED items on a string HUNG Behind you(Blankets -Quilts ETC) but your table consists of the inexpensive stuff; The EXPENSIVE STUFF (THE HOOK!) Draws in the CROWD-The cheap stuff you make $ in the volume!!ALSO have baloons/ribbons-anything that MOVES in a breeze-motion ATTRACTS people!

Amazing, hundreds of years of self sufficiency, Europeans find you and call it paradise. Europeans develope the islands and polynesians are now dependent upon outside help and most islanders can not afford to live.

seems like the men get a pretty raw deal compared to the women. I think I'd prefer to be sitting at a stall rather than breaking my back hauling 25kg sacks of cement! :I

Great film. I can say they are a perfect place to implement some permaculture practices. Cut some swales into those hills so the water doesnt just cut a path to the ocean and wash away the topsoil.

The MOTION GIMIK really works subconciously on people in a market OUTSELLING others!: The reason we don't have CLAWS-HORNS or BIG TEETH; We are *SMART MONKEYS* and are attracted by motion and can percieve threats that way!We then RUN AWAY instead of Fight!

Seems like such a large amount of time, effort and resources dedicated to subsisting on something as hit or miss like selling arts and crafts to foreign tourists, especially if they don't come in large volumes and are only there for a couple of hours.
