    I was born and raised in Chicago, but Jibarito sandwiches did not originate in Chicago. The first place to create the plantain sandwich was Platano Loco in Aguada, Puerto Rico.

      Someone familiar with the rich gastronomical culture & dietary habits in all the diffent regions of Puerto Rico will definitely agree. It still amazes me the argument with the origins of the mofongo & mangú. 🤣

      @@davidsamuel6018 Mofongo is a traditional Puerto Rican dish while Mangú is a traditional Dominican dish.

    Sorry not to bash La Bomba Buuut lol the best #1 Jibarito is sold at Jibaritos y Mas. La Bomba used to be the joint everyone went until Jibaritos Y Ma's Opened. Little quick story how it opened and no I dont own or work there I live in Chicago now, but the owner used to work as the head manager for Ponce Restaurant which is the #1 Puerto Rican Restaurant everyone knows that just go there yourself and you'll see what I mean. Either or both have same recipes and the taste is Authentic!! La Bomba is #3 in Chicagos best

    This place is infested with cockroaches! My family used to love coming here. Naver again! Family members and friends have all seen cockroaches on different occasions. One crawled on my grandmothers arm. Poor abuela!

    A Chicago creation? So it's not a typical meal you'd see in Puerto Rico?
    Either way I'd never order one, I cant get past the banana. Banana smothered in Mayo..... yuck!

    • @pyrix

      Jose Velazquez Maybe baby steps, try the plantain first by itself. Never Mayo tho.

      All the ingredients are food u will eat in Puerto Rico...... It's just put together like a sandwich.....
      Just take it apart and u have a Puerto Rican dish

    • @aneudihidalgo255
      @aneudihidalgo255 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all the Jibarito is not a Chicago creation it's actually a native Puerto Rican creation and, second those are not bananas they're plantains...

    • @kensven5308
      @kensven5308 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ya, a Chicago Puerto Rican made it and as far as I know, Chicago is the only place on the continental USA you can get it.
      And it's not a banana, it's a plantain.
