  • We have a really exciting video this week! Like we say just about every week... But, this one is very special.
We hid our GoPro in the brush where the wallabies on Lambay like to hang out, and got some beautiful footage, up close and personal! We'd walk up to the top of the island about four times a day to swap out the GoPro batteries to maximize our chances of catching the wallabies on camera; talk about a workout!
It was a ton of fun looking at the videos every night seeing what we were able to capture, and now we can't wait for you to watch it. They are adorable little creatures...

My da used to say there was kangaroos on Lambay island and I thought he was joking.
He probably thought they were small kangaroos.

They are technically. Wallabies are part of the kangaroo family.

I wonder how theyll evolved in the environment and how they will change over time. Like you wonder if nature sorts itself out with invasive species eventually nature will figure out a way it might take a long time

The thing with wallabies is that they aren't really damaging anything. They mainly eat grass and considering how much it rains in Ireland, the grass grows back fast. There is enough food for the wallabies and the native population of animals.

1 year late but apparently they already have thicker coats than your usual wallabies

Yeah can be highly invasive. Three introduced into NZ decades ago quickly became 15000
