      Yeah I'm pretty sure this villain did not do any research into adventuring parties, I've never seen a party do anything without at least a 15 minute debate, unless it's something simple like buying a piece of fruit for 5 gold (in which case that's a 3 second near-unanimous decision)

      My Curse of Strahd party would simultaneously overthink everything and run head first into whatever trap or puzzle there is.
      The warlocks and the sorcerer would try to think it all through but our Eldrich knight half orc and Paladin Kobold would probably just dive into whatever, and without my character, the divine soul sorcerer Aasimar and de facto healer of the party , they are in a bit of a pickle healing-wise because our paladin doesn't have much healing yet 😅

      On the contrary, removing MY character from the party is likely to make it more efficient and effective. She just made everything a lot harder on herself. And if her spies had done their work even remotely adequately, there would be no way she'd offer me a job 🤣

      I had a Rune Knight goliath, with bare-handed fighting style (my "weapons", what i used to carve runes on it was a pair of metallic knight gloves, but as i weared the full armor, the suspicious thing, what they could took from me would be my sword, what i only carried, as i thought, i would look stupid in full armor without any weapon). If they take away my visible weapon (what i only use, when i think i doesn't need to go full power), i still have a very compatible weapon with me. Also, the raw power, what it carried might not would be enough to break the chains, but to break a chair, or part of the wall (where the chains are attached to it) were not a problem for it, even without his boost from the runes.

      (We literally had a campaign, where we found out absolutely NOTHING about the plots background, yet we were able to complete our task by simply one of the characters being in the right place in the right time [the bard wanted to seduce one of the key figures], and the rest of the party needed to chase after him. When the enemy ambush came, we just massacred them [i just used a spell, what left their cleric roasted within the first few rounds - even if i fall unconscious in the next round, thanks to their other spellcaster, without their healer they had no chance against my team]. Within the eyes of the party our team get a payment (half of the bard's payment was shared among the party for causing trouble), for practically go on a tavern crawl in the city...)

    Oh, this was so SO fun to do with Calla! Just two manipulative boss-bitches trying to outmaneuver eachother. That last part, “You catch more flies with honey,” actually had me laughing, because that is literally Calla’s strategy: she plays sweet, innocent, and naive in order to foster a sense of protectiveness in the people around her, and uses her healing powers to make them dependent on her. Her facade definitely cracked a few times over this conversation, and that was the moment I realized Augery had read her like a book (ESPECIALLY with that follow-up about playing people’s heart strings & having a deft hand.) Augury has just made an enemy for life over this conversation; Calla does not appreciate having her power stripped from her, and anyone who sees her for what she is is too dangerous to let live. There are definitely a lot of crocodile tears & a quest of sworn vengeance in the immediate future.

Mine is your average human dude named Jeremy who was just a normal college intern on an archeological dig until he managed to fall into a pit that led to a bunch of the demons followers and got possessed and all that jazz. The poor dude has way too much anxiety and needs a hug but has somehow ended up in curse of strand with the singular braincell in the group. He's a ton of fun to play lol

      @palpytheemperorofelevators4937 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@emmad9289 Hahaha! That does sound like a very fun character. I love the idea of a normal guy who is just launched out of his comfort zone and has to rise to the occasion. My dude, Thumbkin, tended to shy away from conflict and was very excitable but ended up going quite coo-coo; embracing violence and making impulsive decisions (he was a wild magic subclass, after all). Finding a way to do that but also not hog the spotlight or step on other players' toes was tricky but very much worth it. I have a lot of fond memories saying "Tides of Chaos!" right before rolling on that Wild Magic Surge Chart, the other players grinning in anticipation and one player in particular who'd just face-palm - he did really enjoy the planning process, a process which Thumbkin usually upset somehow in execution. I hope your DM reveals stuff about Jeremy and the demon in a really fun way and that he becomes quite a memorable character for you! (and gets a few hugs, here and there) :D

    Deceiving the villain successfully twice for the roles, being able to truthfully say: "Overconfident? Additional fun was in actually having to think for a moment about the offer of working for her when she said she'd pay more. I think I have a decent grasp of this character and this video was a great help for immersion!

    I actually enjoyed the branching. A suggestion I have would be something kinda like Space with Markiplier or the great Markiplier heighsts or a date with Markiplier. Where the actions lead to a Unlisted video, and from there it can branch into more options and make it more unique for endings. At the very least even if there was two endings like this video it feel like we actually had more choice and not sure if there was a secret ending. So we might try it again and again with different characters. and feel unique endings for each.
    Example if you succeded in one vid failed on another, then succeeded on the other you get the ability to join or decieve, (join your friends come in and fade to black) Decieve Augry tells her plans and your firends come in question you a bit more then fade to black.
    If you fail on all three your friends simply show up and fight their way to you and video ends on your rescue with little knowledge fade to black. you can have as many endings as you want.
    Of course its just a suggestion. This format was just as fun and I did greatly enjoy it. I look forward to the next and will most definitely be playing this video again (may haps give my DM some ideas since i'll be showing it to her *shudder* what am i signing us up for)

Some questions like "what would your character do in _______ situation?" are hard to conceptualize when your character isn't really being put in that situation, so the roleplaying part is amazing practice and puts the prompts into a realistic form. I loved this video and it'll help me a lot in the future when making my own characters and helping prompt friends when they make their own! • @AlexBermann
    @AlexBermann ปีที่แล้ว +3

    My current character after the fact:
    It was obvious she was bluffing. Starting the conversation with asking for your weaknesses was a weird move since it obviously wasn't in my best interest to reveal that information and reduce my chances of survival. So, I answered by explaining the weaknesses of mortals in a cosmic scale and she quickly lost interest, moving on to the next question. She only lasted about ten seconds. Then, she took my noncooperation as a reason to attempt to recruit me - doubtlessly so that she could feed me information I could leak to you if I betray her. Of you ever take someone prisoner, give them either a threat or a way out like that before you try to make them to work with you. She took my refusal as a reason to ask me about organizational culture and again, she cut my answer short before I could even get to the difference of violence and power. You arrived shortly thereafter. Due to this, my interrogation could not reveal more information. It truly is frustrating having to do this without magic. Even more frustrating is that a woman who doesn't understand basic insect related idioms took me prisoner and that I will remember her idiotic fly monologue for the rest of my life.

    The multiple paths are an excellent idea! It really helps with getting in character and involved with the situation to see your character's reaction. The situation in itself is a bit tricky for me because my character would probably be like "why the hell would I give you any other information besides that they'll probably come for me if they know I'm alive?" but I guess its natural to have some trust issues with the one that kidnaped you XD This video will be fun and helpful when I'll try roleplaying slier characters!

    It was once again a really fun experience doing this roleplay exercise. And I think the decisions make it even better and more personalized. But if they are too much work would be understandable and I would still love them the way you did them before.

    Really hit for my character who already feels like he's disposable to the party, literally an Abjuration wizard who doesn't have fancy overpowered magic items like the rest of the party, and just exists solely for strategizing because everyone else is the rush in type

    I showed these POV videos to friend of mine who's in a separate d&d campaign from me, we like to talk to each other about our respective characters and campaigns a bunch, and we talked awhile about our characters' responses in these videos. Hers turned up some pretty dang interesting stuff for this one. Particularly considering that she's planning for her character to have a villain arc later on.
    Like.
    Imagine:
    You're the coldhearted and cutthroat head honcho of a vast underground smuggling organization. Due to Reasons, you've taken a member of a party of teenage adventurers hostage to lure the rest of the party into a trap.
    The kid's heir to a noble family and is quick to pull a Do You Know Who I Am out of offense. Before long he actually shows genuine respect for your methods though, and he answers your questions without visible resistance or qualms of any kind. He doesn't actually seem very attached to his party, but he doesn't leave them to join you when you offer. He gives YOU a proposition, that he divulge weak spots in the vaults of other nobles and help you pin the blame on your rivals if you let him go. He gives YOU advice in keeping your subordinates in line, and it's not the kind of advice you'd hear from the average adventurer who aims to be some kind of hero. You can't say you're not mildly fascinated. He's some kid, that much can be said.
    You don't think a whole lot of it though. Your plan to lure the rest of his party to you works, and you leave him tied up there to go deal with his companions. The rest of that encounter plays out, maybe it ends ideally for you, maybe it doesn't, in any case they come out of it alive and you don't have much to do with that party after the whole affair's over.
    Time passes. Some months later, you hear that the heir to a *certain* noble family has been gaining much more power and influence through less-than-moral means. He starts taking out other nobles and grows to be something of a dictator.
    Dang. Props to that kid.

    I haven't really had the chance to use your POV role-play vids for their actual purpose, but I do love seeing the work, passion, and talent you put into them with both your storytelling and the cosplay. I really hope you get inspired to do more of these. The branching story-lines concept is very clever and I hope to see more of it. Hope you have a good time with the charity stream.

    Hey there Ginny, long time subscriber and fellow DnD player/DM. I re-watch your videos often as I keep adding to the world/campaign I've been adding to in downtime for like 10 years.
    Could you do a "So you wanna be DM ..." communication skills for getting and keeping a table running. I am autistic, late diagnosed, and this affects me personally in relation to game in coordinating everyone schedules to be able to get together. I adore all your content so so much. I just got my first mermaid tail this summer. It would also be cool to hear about advise or location recommendations here close to Denver.

    I am so, so happy to see these return! I come back to Edith pretty often, as she not only helps with the PCs I hope to get to use one day, but works very well for the NPCs I throw at my players as well; I swear Darkness the tiefling spent half that video cursing the party's bard for getting him into that conversation in the first place and the rest as an eye-opening therapy session. It was truly spectacular. But enough about my favorite in the series, we're here for the new one!
    First off, that ad was *amazing* - you and Sam Riegel are the only people I've seen who can make an advertisement so interesting and fun ;) I loved seeing Augury as an actual villain as opposed to a prospective employer. The first time we met her was more 'aloof business woman whose ventures are shady', whereas this side of her had me waiting for the boss battle music to start. Having not gotten a turn on the other side of the table, I was faking my way through my chosen character's responses involving a party, but for a character with any life experience, this is great, and I will definitely be watching several more times as different NPCs my players have adopted. I will say, that question about having my claws removed was hilarious to answer as my poor, Intelligence dump-stat Eladrin Glamour bard.
    Augury: "How does it feel?"
    Trill: "Claws? Oh, no, I don't have claws, you've got me mixed up with a druid. I just have fingers, see?" *wiggles fingers* "Although claws might be nice for playing my harp, they'd be like picks! How can I get claws...?" Etcetera. Intimidation doesn't work very well on someone who has no concept of fear, Madame Villain.
    Anyways. Definitely loved the branching paths! Me being me, I just let the whole thing play through for the first viewing, but I love the concept, and I really liked that a lot of the dialogue was similar, as it had the feel of 'DM adapting to the situation but still trying to use what they had in mind for the villain's speech', which was so fun to me.
    I'm not big on the timer in the corner, since it breaks the immersion in the scenario in my opinion, but I know most everyone else prefers it, and it's simple enough to cover with a finger on the screen, so it's not really an issue. The only thing I might even say needed a little polish was how the music cut out abruptly when switching to a new portion of the roleplay path. I'm sure these aren't quick or easy to edit, and it's not a huge thing, but I did notice it and it was a little jarring. The music selections were fantastic, though! Again, so excited to see a new RP video, and hopefully we can convince the algorithm that these are some of your best videos so you can have the opportunity to continue making them!
