I mean, this just goes to show how dangerous cyberpsychos are. In the game they are a big deal and there's a entire category of cyberpsychos hunt quests. Some can be former soldiers that are full of weapons in every part of their body. Having people like that roaming around while completement crazy, pretty scary

The ones with the holofaces are the Scavs. Body chop shops are their thing. One of those gangs that you...never really feel bad about wasting. They ALWAYS are the worst. Even Maelstrom has a few sympathetic members...kinda. And Becca's tats make me think she was formerly of the Mox. Lots of little bits here and there for people who played the TTRPG and the game. Nice.

In some interviews CDPR said Rebecca character was Trigger idea. They wanted a loli type of character to appeal Asian viewers. CDPR refused the idea at the beginning but after seeing her design they just fell in love. Thanks god because she is one of the best characters ^^
Glad you guys switched to dub because those subtitles are HORRIBLE. I'd go as far as to say that it detracts from the experience because without it, one can hear the dialogue correctly. With it though, the person watching is tricked into hearing it incorrectly and so they're left with nonsensical dialogue. The person or team who subbed this is clearly unfamiliar with slang, Cyberpunk-specific or otherwise. Let's take a look at the Cyberpsycho scene:
8:20 - "You hard in hearing, chuva?" should be "You hard of hearing, choomba?". Ironic, this one. Choom or choomba is a common slang word in Cyberpunk, meaning "pal" or "dude" but with varying degrees of affection depending on context.
8:28 - "You chromed your dick? That had to hurt. Gives new meaning to the phrase 'Hard as iron-'" is the correct line.
9:23 - "Fucking capped him!", "I got some Pilar on me...", "Give me that!", "Cocksucker!" Capped meaning shot, IRL slang.
9:33 - "Crazy little shit! You'll flatline before you can land a shot on him." is the correct line. Flatline is Cyberpunk slang for dying or killing (the former in this case).
10:14 - "Alright, nova..." is the correct line. Nova (and preem) is Cyberpunk slang for cool, awesome, great, etc.
And that's just from one scene. In the episode's runtime there are tons of errors ranging from minor grammatical mistakes to straight up mistranslation and line omission. The show's dialogue can be fast at times and is chock full of slang, so having accurate subs is important to understand all of it.
If you can, I'd highly recommend watching the rest from Netflix using the official English subtitles meant for the English dub. To clarify, on Netflix, there are two official English subtitles for Edgerunners: one for the Japanese dub, and one for the English dub. The former is also rife with issues (yes, the official subtitles for the Japanese dub unfortunately also suck ass), but the latter is actually accurate.

That's the problem with assuming Japanese dubs with English subs are always better. It's really sad how the anime community has been brainwashed into thinking this all the time.
I just spotted something, how did they get to the Ripperdoc? Maine's car is a 2 seater sports car.
What is up with the Netflix subtitles?? "Dog" is constantly shown as "doug". "Klept" is shown as "cleft". And a whole heap of other odd words lol.

An anime expired from a game Wow
So personally I prefer the Sub over the Dub even in the case of Cyberpunk... but you were clearly watching it with the borked subtitles so I'll allow the change. Some of the voices in the dub are pretty good, some lack the energy of the Japanese voices (also, whoever is voicing Rebecca in the dub sounds like she's about to lose her voice on like half of her lines) but overall I can't hate it too much.
If I want the sub I can just rewatch the anime myself, I'm here for your reaction.

I respect you guys opinion about the dub, but is not better, character's original voice actors are as important as the soundtrack, or direction, or color pallete chosen to represent this world. although i do appreciate dub for those who need it for acessibility or for anyone who's just lazy enough to not want to read subtitles lol. love ur reactions xoxo from brazil.
Which VO cast gave a better performance is subjective and a matter of personal taste, but there's no arguing that English VO represents the world the best. The fact that some characters in the English dub still speak in Japanese reflects Night City's status as a melting pot more accurately, and the accents some characters have in the English dub e.g., Maine, Tanaka, Gloria give them additional characterization.
There are also all the slang words like choom, preem, gonk, etc. that's just completely absent in the Japanese dub, and so it misses some of that flavor that makes the world of Cyberpunk what it is. To put it another way, Night City's lingua franca canonically is English, and so by default having English voiceovers fits its world better.
Lastly, the subtitles that are present in the copy they're watching just plain suck so going dub in this case isn't just a matter of accessibility or convenience, it's plainly the better experience.

The animation is made based in the original va or vice versa. to me it fits more naturally, i also personally dont like the moans in some of the english dubs. also, my native language is not english and i'm used to watching things in the original va, especially animes, so maybe that adds up to me prefering the original voice actors. have a lovely day bro
Annnnndddddd another react channel that fell for the trap of dub..... No matter the content i always go for the original only the writer, director and the cast who worked on the ORIGINAL knows the true intentions of every single detail... dubs may adapt the material but in the end you always lose the original intent of several key ingredients of the material... guess is easier to react though... =/
Bro you just contradicted yourself. You say you value whatever the author originally intended for a piece of media yet the sub literally doesn't have lore accurate slang nor is what the characters are canonically speaking. The sub is an adaptation and if you prefer that that's your business but saying the dub isn't the intended way of watching it is dead wrong.
