I’ve played it about 4 times now, my family have a great time with it. I agree there is a lot going on but after finding your feet it’s pretty good.

Tom I am surprised by your comment "would like to what these designers come up with in the future" - These are the guys who designed Rococo, Valparaiso and Edo

I got the same vibe after watching a playthru.
The selecting a leader for the round reminded me of selecting a paladin for the round in Paladins of the West Kingdom.

This just makes me want the English release of the Martin Wallace Anno game.

The iconography reminds me of an ikea flat box assembly manual.

YMMV but I've had a lot of fun playing this: different strokes and all that...

I will learn it - it is beautiful to look at. I live alone and we are not allowed to see folks so I will add it to the list of games to play later!

I really enjoyed the game! It is a much thinkier game than it looks and I feel like everything has its reason for being there!

I actually like the look and sound of it!
But without a solo mode, I can't justify getting it.

Get some friends? Many board game stores let you pay like 10 bucks to sit and play all day.

We’ve played it a couple of times and have enjoyed it overall. I find the iconography to be somewhat confusing and not totally intuitive. We’re constantly referring to the rule book. Perhaps with more plays we’ll get better at reading the icons. There’s so many icons on the boards and cards. I do wish there was some text explaining the icons but probably trying to save space. I like the dice placement and worker actions. The art is good and I find the theme relevant in that we are recruiting nomads to help us as we discover each island.

I backed this one and have it on my shelf. Haven't had a chance to get it to the table but looking forward to it. It seems like there will be a lot of looking up iconography but that is not something that my group seems to find that annoying usually, and picks up on fairly well. It looks a little heavier than I was anticipating from this review but up for the challenge.

I hesitated backing this for a lot of the reasons stated here. I loved the components and some of the ideas but I thought it could've been split into 3 or 4 good fillers instead of one hard to teach, themeless mechanism
