"It's different. It's not like anything I've paddled." - we're gonna take that one all the way to the bank, especially coming from yourself, Wade! Thanks again for taking the time, and congratulations on bagging yet another first loop!!
Totally true statement that bow to stern rocker profile the width placement aggressive edged rails and perfect volume distribution makes this a force to be reckoned with. And throw a threaded drain plug in there oh yeah it’s on 👊🏻😉
@WadeHarrison yeah me neither, whe. I'm weighing in at 115 it rules out so many, want to say goodbye to the machno for something more ... well just more 🤣 I love my ripper 2, the comment on drainage plug I agree with, pain in the arse to empty. If I can find a nice creek with still some play then I'll be very happy to buy one :)
Hi Wade - very much looking forward to your Scorch vs ReactR comparison and the full ReactR review. One question - I am paddling a large Scorch and absolutely love it. But - its really big. Do you think the ReactR will be sized better? I am 230lbs so too big for a medium Scorch but kinda swim in the large Scorch. As always, keep your videos coming, they are used by many of us to understand the new boats and their performance.
I will cover this more when get a full production one but I feel you might like the M rEactR it’s in between the M scorch and L in my opinion now that might change when get more time in it
For what it is worth, I bought the Scorch X because I was on the high end of the medium and the low end of the large. I weigh 195 with no gear, but I have had the boat full of kit for multi-day trips, and it still paddled well. I love the X, though it took me few days to get my head around it. It does not feel big despite its length.
I love the ripper 1 and always say to my friend while I carry mine that Pyranha made little pyranna teeth all around the cockpit to bite in your shoulder. Glad they got rid of those:) Can't wait to see what they did with the outfit!
The outfit in this boat was pretty rough looking like 3d printed parts and hand sewing ect they wanted to wait till fine tuned it before showing it so i understand but hey its up on the website now
The way they carried the volume and width out made this paddle very smooth and sitting low gives the feeling of floating higher like to hear your thoughts on the small when it drop over there
Nice! I’ve been watching for this video since Saturday. Was out on the Ocoee the same day you shot this. Saw the boat on the truck at the takeout and tried to talk the Pyrhana rep (Chris?) into giving us a peak at the outfitting, but he wasn’t having it. 😂 Looking forward to the full walkthrough. Thanks for the first impression! 🤙
@wadeharrison have you had much more time with the ReactR? Would be keen to hear your thoughts on if this is suitable for someone new to WW or would the Scorch be a better choice.
I feel both would be good options the scorch will be little more locked in but both float extremely well on top the water and the outfitting just makes the reactr
Really looking forward to paddling this. Have you paddled the puffy steeze? Curious how it stacks up to that boat. Gonna be an interesting Spring of 3/4 slices to choose from!! Looking forward to more reviews from you on this boat and the new Dagger.
I have spent a lot of time in the actual steeze and just like a brief lap in the puff I feel this is very different from that actually I will do a side by side one get one I know a guy that has a puff and yeah I’m excited to see how that new dagg turns out as well looks to be another great year for kayaks
@@WadeHarrison let me know if you need to do a side by side with the puff as I have one. I live near the Charlotte Whitewater Center so would be easy to meet you there with it.
@@WadeHarrison Thanks, I'm pretty excited to give ita demo when it's available- Your reviews are the best. Did you think the edges were very "grabby" or just good to carve into a turn. It seems to me like the love child of a scorch and ripper (but with more stern volume than a ripper ofcourse)
I have paddled both of those and the flow is really good thought the gnar was decent but way to much bow volume and compression to the ReactR I feel it’s better boat for me
Great to see you got the first review! Was it the Large LevelSix Ace you got? I need a new skirt and I’m hopeful to get it to fit my firecracker, scorch and maybe ReactR now 😅 Fingers crossed to be able to retrofit the outfitting!
I'm interested i n seeing their super secret outfitting. I really like my Scorch, but I recently bought a Rewind instead of a Ripper II because Dagger's outfitting is far superior.
Wow this looks like a river running sports car I need one of these when and where are these available I heard you say it was pre production and what are the final specs do you have those somewhere I looked online? Thanks for posting this really helps us not easily accessible to demos out a ton!
Thanks Tuba appreciate that and yes this is what a high performance creek boat should be and from my understanding maybe late April early May and as far as specs I don’t have anything confirmed but did check the rocker height and several things myself but will wait until get all confirmed before posting anything on it
Sounds like it a good boat, but I already have, and love my Scorch and really don't need a higher performance Scorch. I hope to see it at Tuckfest and maybe get a few laps in one to see the outfitting update. And hope it's an outfitting update across the board for all Pyranha WW kayaks.
Was thinking the same thing. Love my scorch and MORE than happy with it, even have my outfitting dialed in perfectly, although I can’t lie, I’m curious about the new outfitting
Hi wade another excellent review. Out on the T yesterday and two Reactors passed me, one was Bren. Got to see him surf and did get a glimpse of the outfitting when he adjusted. No ratchets 🤔. I have the THP and I have to say it’s very similar. These 3/4 sporty creekers are definitely a thing now.
Yeah I seen some videos of Bren in a full production one looks forward to see what he paddles in this one and yeah good call it’s similar to the THP but knowing that boat the hulls are drastically different and the THP was pretty narrow
looks like a heavy tamper from hull to side wall, the cockpit looks more round than their normal cockpits, interesting yak, any chance of Demo of Soul Super Skip?
Yeah the cockpit is their newest design same as the rip2 and firecracker I like it and yeah when the slow boat from China 🇨🇳 lands with the soul skippers and hopefully will see some demos I want to really give that one a try as well
Now that the boat is officialy out, can you say how the rope system works? Is it really that much better than other manufacturers that use it? Awesome video again, keep on doing it sir!
I felt they took what’s out and improved it they are using stronger better rope and the have metal cleats with a pulley in them I’m a big fan of ratchets but these worked better then any rope system I used so far will cover this when get the production boat
@@Olrakp I feel the same. I'm not too impressed with the string. I'm a dagger fan.. I like a good ratchet. The string set up seems like a less than premium choice for an otherwise premium boat- but it really stands out. I'm really looking forward to the Indra review and walkthrough.

How can you just say it's 9 foot and not say what siz it is? There will be 3 sizes like the scorch and other Pyranha boats? Please tell me they haven't gone the way of Waka and Zet and only making one size?
Someone over here caught one on one of the UK rivers and took photos of the new outfitting and put them on Facebook! It looks like a massive improvement over the previous one. Just needs to be renamed the Jackson Pyranha! 😂
In my opinion Dagger and JK have the best all round outfitted whitewater kayaks out there and if something even comes remotely close to those I would be a happy 😃 camper! I’m excited to see what Pyranha does with the final version of all the outfitting.

That’s exactly how it paddles
I'm honestly excited to see the new dagger indra and hopefully your review of it
Yes me too this year has a lot great options out there
Wade FINALLY likes Pyranha's outfitting and not one comment on the drain plug. ;-)
Drain plug molded in not drilled and screwed outfitting tight and easy adjusting on a high preforming hull oh yeah 🫣😎
Can you do a comparison with the ReactR, Indra, Slicey Steeze, Puffy Steeze, Ninja I, and Ninja II?
That would take a lot to line all those up same spot
@@WadeHarrison could you do it as a discussion or something?
That might be doable
I love the ripper 1 and always say to my friend while I carry mine that Pyranha made little pyranna teeth all around the cockpit to bite in your shoulder. Glad they got rid of those:) Can't wait to see what they did with the outfit!
Definitely better on the shoulder to carry

Just curious what happened at 1:31 when you said "Can you stern turn it?..whoa you're not doin that!" did the edge grab you and try to roll you?

Good thing it's stable. Lifting the seat almost always decreases stability.
For sure being low in the seat is what’s helping with that great stability

Just as the scorch was basically a newer/improved version of a burn, is this a newer/improved version of the 9r2?
I feel it’s combination of scorch 9r2 meets The horney potato meets a aggressive edge it paddles very differently

Yeah the scorch still is a amazing kayak in my opinion so totally agree if it’s working for you why upgrade
ReactR large or Indra m/L? You can only pick one.
Hard to say right now I was only I. The rector for a one lap need to get more time in both
Do you think this would be a beginner kayak, or the opposite?
Tough to say right now when I get more time in it will
