  • PGA TOUR 2K23 is finally out! There's been plenty of new additions and changes to the game, so let's explain what's new and changed! First we talk about skills and their benefits and drawbacks.
    karacakes is a top player in the 2K golf series, starting off in October 2020 before joining TGCTours shortly after, and launching an exciting journey to the top as she broadcast her career over on twitch. It eventually culminated in a Tour Championship victory on the Platinum Tour in 2021, and she added another victory in 2022. She's been in the top 10 for over a year in the World Golf Rankings.

    Finally a video that explains this… No one else was able to explain it and make it make sense

    OMG!🙂 New guy here to the game. Only 9+ minutes into the tutorial and feeling a wave of being overwhelmed. At age 7 decades, I'm more oriented toward simplicity. Still can't wrap my head round the emphasis on chipping vs pitch shots!
    Mapping club distances flat {No spin), partial, & full spin.
    Master the short game.
    Practice good course management.
    You provided very clear information on a rather detailed topic. ~ Thanks for that ~

    Been searching for info on this for a minute. Most of the ones I found were less than useful. Thank you for this video. It helped a lot.

    17:10 WOW. My biggest gripe with this game has been how inconsistent the greens are inside of the same round. Now I know why!

    Thanks for Vid Kara, as a ps4 player I have yet to calibrate as 2K21 ps4 didn't need it, so looking forward to the calibration video. Oh, hope your well?

      Appreciate ya! Doing as well as can be, life is hectic, but I'm going to get through it and make some sweet 2k23 content. Need to do more testing on ps4 version - but it definitely feels close to 2k21 on it. Just smaller perfect window hurts it a bit.

    Great explanations. I got the feeling that a lot of the attribute changes from skills weren't necessarily positives, especially when you consider the fact that you need to monitor them to know what's active at all times. One important question though... Do you know if these skills will cause attributes to exceed the "100 limit". For example, if my archetype has a Timing stat of 80, and I add 20 Timing points on my driver through the fittings... will a skill that gives me a timing bonus on my driver make any difference?

    • @karacakes
      @karacakes  ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct, you cannot overcap, unless it's one of those weird stats that we can't increase easily like Flight or Spin.

    Hi Kara. Question on TGCT: how often are the tournaments? Weekly, monthly? I wanted to compete this time but I barely have time to design courses as is, about 8hrs a week. Trying to gage how often I would have to complete my rounds. Thanks.

    • @karacakes
      @karacakes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Weekly tournaments. You can always skip a tournament if you don't feel like it, but there is always a tournament, 4 rounds, every week. You can split them up if you want, but you need 2 rounds done by Wednesday night and the rest done by Saturday evening (EST time, 7-8pm depending on daylight savings)

    how did you accumalate 50 skill points thought 24 was max

  • @MrZola1234
    @MrZola1234 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good video. The only skills that have real value are the far right column. The others, you lose as soon as you par, hit a green or fairway 1-2 times. A lot of complexity, with little value.

    • @karacakes
      @karacakes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep, and a few random ones like the driver power/flight ones. The other ones just slightly slightly boost in very niche scenarios agreed! But certain ones, like Too Breezy have a bit more impact than you might realize when it's active.

  • @MrZola1234
    @MrZola1234 ปีที่แล้ว

    I must be on the right track, we both are using irons up to the 3w.

    • @karacakes
      @karacakes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually swapped to the Hybrid instead of 3i. 3i works but there's a bit too much gap between 3w and 3i, and with the physics changes, the hybrid doesn't bounce so aggressively like it did in 2k21.

    • @MrZola1234
      @MrZola1234 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karacakes tried it out, if you juice up the lie you get pretty close shot percentages.

  • @MrZola1234
    @MrZola1234 ปีที่แล้ว

    The higher you hit the ball, the more wind should effect the ball. In real life players hit lower shots in big wind. Not sure why the game is the opposite

    • @karacakes
      @karacakes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will notice it on the higher winds. Definitely above 15mph I start to notice the ball moving if I loft or add spin to a ball. But it doesn't start moving until it gets high up there in the air.

    👍 hybrids are a waste of time.Thoughts?

    • @karacakes
      @karacakes  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't mind them, have one in my bag. Gives me smaller gaps at the top end of my bag which is nice. I have them mostly charted out so I know how much fade/draw I need to get to the next club in my bag. They're also fine out of rough if you add some spin and give me another long club. Playstyles matter with gaps in your bag and how you want to play. I hate partialing. I think 3w-3i is perfectly good if you partial or really like to shape hard.
      Oh there are also some very good skills for hybrid. So it's tough to balance the fact that you have to put points into it and get fittings with it's benefits and make a decision for yourself.
