Even though 2018 had more clarity and overall quality in most of the belts, 2013 had MUCH more ease, and a lot more consistency over C#5 too. You could tell she had to try quite a bit harder in 2018. I feel like they balance each other out pretty well so I'd say this is a tie! (I prefer 2013 a little more though)
That’s so true. I feel like in 2014 she kind of figured out a more balanced and on pitch way of singing. 2013 was kind of a transition, but then again what year isn’t a transition 😭. I feel like because she had more ease 2013 isn’t really thinking about singing as hard as 2018, so like her overall technique was better in 2018, but she didn’t have vibrato b4 moments like 2013 did.

i agree they balance each other out, but I feel like 2018 takes it for me cuz she seemed to realize by this point that she shouldn’t attempt as many upper belts and stuck mostly with a healthier mid range, which seemed to be healthier than 2013-2015. But yeah 2013 takes the upper belts easily.
My personal favorites: G#4 - 2018 A4 - 2013 Bb4 - 2018 (power!!) B4 - 2013 (love her 2009-ish tone here) C5 - 2013 (!) 2nd 2013 C#5 - both similar D5 - 2018 (!!) 2nd 2013 Eb5 - 2018 (one of her best) 2nd 2013 (but both amazing)! E5 - 2013 I love her tone both years though. Very strong👏🏼
Her pitch was really weird in the 2013 tour. Like one minute she would be pitch perfect and the next she would be all over the place😭 She still served vocals though. And I actually like the subtle rasp in her tone
@@Dubairiah The first concert was definitely the worst in terms of pitch, but she had quite a few problems with pitch across the whole tour, which is very confusing because she's usually really good with pitch😭
Unpopular opinion: cautions tone is too high larynx for anything above like b4. 2013 still had a softer tone, a little more mixing, and when she actually found placement she could have some nice vibrato moments.

I guess 2019 was considered Mariah's worst year back then? but was 2018 considered an improvement over 2017 or did people think she was getting worse in 2018 too? cause I see mixed opinions about that in the comments from the time
Well I became a lamb in 2019 so my perception of things may not be the most accurate but I remember the opinion about her voice varying. But the general consensus was that 2018 was superior to 2019 and that both were improvements over 2017. Older lambs should be able to give a more accurate description of the general opinion though!

But then the Asia tour came around and everyone was relieved. Then she declined AGAIN in 2019 in terms of belting😭 so everyone thought 2019 was really bad (at the time) because of the Caution Tour, with barely any belts above C#5. Christmas 2019 was amazing, but it tended to get overlooked because of the Caution Tour, which is how many people remembered her sounding in 2019. Now Christmas 2019 has been getting more popular and people are saying that they took 2019 for granted!

@@manuelwsz When I heard those awesome Love Takes Time Eb5s I was like „alright, there is a clear winner here” but then 2018riah came and she slayed so much…it’s really a tie, both were technically phenomenal, we all have our personal favorites but overall both eras were incredible
