Malay is indeed a very beautiful language, Siti Nurhaliza is a living legend and we Indonesians love her so much! Her song "Bukan Cinta Biasa" is a song that must be sung at karaoke 😂
By the way, all of Indonesian songs you've reacted are in Bahasa Indonesia, not Basa Jawa or Javanese. And the root of Bahasa Indonesia is Malay, spoken language is different but the language in songs is the same, because of its standard pronunciation.
Malay was a trade language used across maritime southeast asia.
In 1928 Indonesian youths gathered and chose Malay as a national language and changed its name into Bahasa Indonesia to be a unifying language, so it's not exclusive to only one ethnic(Malay). Since there are also plenty of Malay Creoles in the midle and east part of Indonesia, small amount of poeple in each region would understand it, it is also a very easy language to learn, its chosen over Javanese which at that time was the most spoken language in Indonesia. Malay was easier to teach since you can find its speaker in most part of Indonesia(speaker of Creol Malay), and its simple grammar compare to Javanese.
So, in songs bahasa Indonesia and bahasa Melayu sound very similar if it's not the same. But when it's spoken, they are veeeryy different, it's like Spanish and Portugese for me.

Indonesian when they speak to each other will sound Indonesian. But when they sing, you can't distinguish weather they are Malaysian or Indonesian. But, there's some word in the lyrics that you can pick up and know it's Indonesian language. Literally, we (Malaysia and Indonesian) understand each other. Even we speak different languages (Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia).

The Malay language is spoken in Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei but with several differences in word usage and pronunciation. It's like the difference between American Standard English, British English, and Canadian English. When sung, Malay essentially sounds the same whether it is Indonesian or Malaysian. The differences are generally easier to spot when it is spoken. Indonesian Malay tends to sound a little sharper and they also roll their R more than Malaysian Malay. Spoken Malaysian Malay is generally smoother sounding. No worries, even locals sometimes can't tell the difference when it is in a song.

You are so kind Efra when u leave a comment on Aina's song that "Gucci should hire you"
Aina's been struggling a lot since her debut just because there's some people said that she's not "pretty" enough for the entertainment industry. But she's proves it that her talent speak louder than that.

Usually, malaysia, singapore, indonesia and brunei share common base language understanding. Difference lies in the choice of words use in each country. Thus we could understand the base but require more understanding in certain words use in the context.
It’s akin to English (US), (UK), (Australia) and etc..

    • @chy-naina
      @chy-naina ปีที่แล้ว +4

It's a language for unity, it should be inclusive. An easy language for all and very flexible. The way you say that "Indonesians don't want to call it bahasa Melayu" is annoyed me a tiny bit. We are proud of our national language as well as we are proud of bahasa Melayu, it's my native language, I speak bahasa Betawi (a creole malay), it's a mix of Malay, Chinese(hokkien), Dutch, Arabic, Sundanese and Javanese. But its root, is Malay. So technically, we can call it Bahasa Melayu Betawi too.
I'll say this in Indonesian bc my English is very limited, and I assume you will understand..
Maaf ya kalau menyinggung, cuma mau memberi sudut pandang lain 🙏

The difference between the languages are only on accent, words usage and vocabulary in its formal form. The argument mostly due to political sentiment. It's like saying American English and British English or Argentinian Spanish and European Spanish are separate languages when in fact they are just dialects of the same languages.

Terus hidup (Living on/continue to live) by Aina Abdul is about staying alive even after losing your dearest loved ones, being loyal even the person is no longer by your side.
Longing for something that is no longer there. An everlasting yet heartbreaking feeling, with a glimpse of hope to meet that person in afterlife (by sending prayers to god).
That’s what I understand! Here’s the full English translation (anyone can correct me of I’m wrong):
    You came into my heart
    Kau menyingah hati ini
    I never thought
    Tak pernah ku menyangka
    As strong as this
    Sekuat ini
The warm throbbing of your body
    Debaran hangat ragamu
    You changed everything
    Kau merubah segalanya
    Turns out that I lost
    Ternyata aku kalah
    How strong the feeling is
    Betapa kuatnya rasa
Eventhough you’re not by my side
    Biar kau tiada di sisi
    My soul will not die
    Takkan mati jiwaku
    There is only longing/missing
    Yang ada hanyalah rindu
I really didn't expect this feeling
    Sungguh tak kuduga rasa ini
    Although our destiny is uncertain
    Meski takdir kita tak pasti
    I am loyal here
    Ku setia disini
    My prayers are accompanying you
    Doaku mengiringi kamu
    You changed everything
    Kau merubah segalanya
    As hard as this heart
    Sekeras hati ini
    Refusing to feel
    Menolak untuk merasa
    But not refusing your love
    Tapi tidak cintamu
    My soul will not die
    Takkan mati jiwaku
    There is only longing/missing
    Yang ada hanyalah rindu
I really didn't expect this feeling
    Sungguh tak kuduga rasa ini
    Although our destiny is uncertain
    Meski takdir kita tak pasti
    I am loyal here
    Ku setia disini
    My prayers are accompanying you
    Doaku mengiringi kamu
    Even if it hurts
    Walau derita
    A dream that is endless
    Mimpi yang tiada penyudah
I will immortalize the love between us
Akan aku abadikan cinta yang menjarak antara kita
    Let the tears bleed
    Biar berdarah air mata membisa
    I promised myself here
    Ku menjanji aku disini
    My soul will not die
    Takkan mati jiwaku
    There is only longing/missing
    Yang ada hanyalah rindu
I really didn't expect this feeling
    Sungguh tak kuduga rasa ini

Malay and Indonesian language are both originated from the Malay Language since Malay language used to be the lingua franca at the region miles back then. People in Southern tip Myanmar, Southern Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Southern Philippines and even some part of Cambodia and Vietnam use Malay language until now. Plus, Malay language and people are from the Austronesian root too together with Tagalog, Javanese, etc. Just like the countries in Southern America or Arabs region etc have similarities

    [For Govinda x Ernie Zakri]
The only "normal sound" between Malay and Indonesian language, is through the songs. But when we speak, it is totally difference between Malay & Indonesian languange. That's why we dont have any issue if singers from both countries want to collaborate/duet/etc. Same goes with Singaporean and Brunei.

altho based in US, yall probably know about Yuna too, her song Forevermore is amazing, the mv shows Malaysia's community aesthetics. Her collab w Epik High was so good as well
besides KClique & Marsha, as a Malaysian Sabahan myself i would like to recommend Dabra Sia's Upusku Dikoyu & Hosiani Keewon's Magandad Dika, these are sung in Dusun which is a native language spoken widely in Sabah, East Malaysia!!
    Much luv to u both
