Here are a combination of sources of appearances of Jim Henson, Frank Oz, and The Muppets on the Michael Parkinson Show from November 18, 1978 that have been lost to time.
Material of the Muppet creators and characters on the talk show wouldn’t surface until the late 2010s and early 2020s when the BBC uploaded some clips of them on their website and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, which is a clip of Kermit and Fozzie and another one of Miss Piggy flirting with Michael Parkinson. On May 31, 2024, Tik Tok user kenplume uploaded two posts of vhs recordings of the appearances, which contained footage that hasn’t been uploaded by BBC or anyone else online. Which is possible the user has a recording but hasn’t uploaded the entirety of it on the internet.
Which the Muppet wiki mentions there’s more material, such as Rolf Harris sings a frog song to Kermit and Statler and Waldorf comment at the end of the show "Who is this Russell Parkinson anyway? Better than our show!" this scene was recorded on the Muppet show set, with the hecklers in their box. And even the beginning seems to be missing as well. Which there’s more footage of these appearances that has yet to surface online. The appearances was shown again on September 20, 1996, according to a tv schedule from the BBC site, which Michael Parkinson looks back at the interview although that’s no where available online. It’s likely that BBC has the whole interview but hasn’t released it entirely for some reason. As of now only 18 minutes of the appearances is available online, which seems partially found. So until more material surfaces online, the rest of the interview is completely lost.
