If Disney hadn't gotten rid of the FREE fast pass system, rise in people getting a DAS pass wouldn't have increased so much. Now that guests have to pay for that same fast pass with Gennie+ guest are doing whatever it take to same money causing the abuse of the DAS pass. This new system discriminates against some people with Legitimate disabilities.

I agree. I’d say it discriminates against most disabled people. ALL physical disabilities are no longer accommodated. Even if you have autism and get overstimulated in a crowd Disney won’t accommodate you if you’re not a child. I heard even an 8 year old was denied the cm stating she was “old enough” to understand lines and waiting. Autistic children aren’t dumb a lot of them are forced to manage and suppress themselves in public and they do not want to have melt downs, but when they do it is not a choice just like fainting or seizures.

Did you about the practice waiting in line at home? It’s like mocking us people with legitimate disabilities. It’s disgusting! I’m a war Veteran, because growing up I didn’t know any better. I joined the military for a better life, like many others. However everything that happened to me is something I did not expect nor asked for. I have life long physical and mental disabilities. I thought that Disney was pro- Veterans and such. But I was told to get out of line and just come back to the line. And to practice standing in line at home. I was in shock and didn’t even know how to proceed from there. It was disgusting and demeaning.
I have Department of Defense medical records and VA records and many other speciality care records. I’m so disgusted that I do not want to go back to Disney. The rides aren’t worth this. I stick with universal, which we only ride like two rides and then leave the park due to the complex PTSD. Can’t handle more than that. We used to go to the parks to try and keep some sense of social interaction or normality.

I also agree the language sounds very inphantilizing and I’ve seen people say “if you can’t stand in line like a normal person then just don’t go to a theme park”. That to me is incredibly insulting cause while I may not be able to ride stuff like rollercoasters I can and should be able to ride less intense rides and enjoy the food and theming. They just don’t understand that Disney was a literal safe space for us cause it was clean, secure, and most of all safe. Like even when I had anxiety about going my mom assured me they had the best medical team to help if there was an emergency. My dad and I volunteer for ride to recovery so I’ve seen a lot of wounded veterans. Hope you enjoy that universal. That new park looks like it’ll have a nice big main area with paths and places to rest between rides.

Well, yeah, the problem is DAS was the way free loaders got LL and why the numbers tripled in a few years. Now the freeloaders will have to pay for LLs like the rest of us, which means few of them actually will. As a result, more LLs will be sold, but in reality, LL lines will shorten as you will have the fraudulent DAS users no longer log-jamming the lines. Out of 100 fake DASers, only a handful will actually pay for LLs, so a net 80-90 per 100 less in the LL. So, a better experience overall.

The cast members were very nice and helpful, however one lady completely ruined the whole thing. She said that I “didn’t qualify” for the DAS although I have autism! What? Why wouldn’t I qualify? Me, along with my mom, dad and my brother, were very mad at Disney and are considering cancelling our passes and switching to Universal, because I heard their monthly pay is 50 bucks cheaper and their disability thing is much less complicated. At best I can stand for 5 minutes before I have to lean on something but even leaning doesn’t fully resolve the pain. Like it seems a lot of people don’t realize the dangers and how scummy this implementation is. Disney is not doing this for autistic children they are doing it so they charge more people for genie but also this is gonna make genie more expensive for everyone even previous users. More importantly disabled people have been offered line re entry which is a horrendous idea. Imagine you are someone with diabetes, ptsd, seizures, or fainting. If your body is shutting down how are you supposed to reach a cast member? Even if there’s someone with you to do it I highly doubt they will pay for enough cast members to monitor the line. Some lines are very long and claustrophobic so you’ll be moving shoulder to shoulder to exit. Not to mention the dirty looks people will give that person when they re enter the stand by line. This is a recipe for disaster and as a disabled person with phiefer syndrome it breaks my heart that the happiest place on earth has made it clear they don’t want disabled folks at their park.
Please WDW news don’t stop reporting on this situation, it may effect a minority of park goers but the way it effects those disabled individuals is much more serious and life threatening than your typical Disney cash grab screw up.

They’re pushing the whole “return to queue” b.s. yet there’s zero consistency between attractions and you’re literally at the mercy of the CMs who happen to be on shift at the time you want to ride. It’s obvious the CMs haven’t been trained and they’ve made this whole “return to queue” process all but impossible to navigate and beyond stressful for their employees. Disney won’t allow kids under 14 to be in the parks without an adult yet they have NO issue telling a single parent with two kids under 10 who might need to leave the line for one kid (who was previously approved for DAS) and have the other kid STAY IN LINE ALONE to hold their place. On so many levels Disney has went down, including their costumer service. The prices are more than outrageous and now with the DAS situation, which I do have medical documentation for, it’s having to relive serious injury every 120 days. I will not ever understand why they just didn’t do it like Universal Studios? I give props to Universal Studios for having established a platform, which was ingenious! The process is terrible and the lack of transparency of the conditions that qualify are even worse, as there’s no guidelines where at least our medical providers can provide documentation for. I spoke to my provider and they were clueless, as they could only provide documentation such as FMLA paperwork and a letter of permanent disability. I’m not sure I want to be put through this process every 120 days. Plus the prices are becoming ridiculous and unaffordable. Funny how Disney magical went from less then 1% of visitors having a disability to 75% LMAO

    • @kpl-CA
      @kpl-CA 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

Nobody but an ableist bigot pretends disabilities are "less than 1%".
Disabilities impact approximately 15% of people, depending on the definition of "disability".
At *least* 10% of the general population have visible disabilities that require mobility equipment, canes, hearing aids, *legitimate* service animals or other noticable equipment.
If Disney "forgot" to plan for millions of legitimately disabled people then Disney is at fault.
Disney is *choosing* to discriminate, based on an IMAGINARY, FAKE, DISHONEST expectation, not on the actual reality/statistics.
Remember Disney hosts THOUSANDS of "Make-A-Wish" families every year and now even THOSE CHILDREN are being discriminated against by Disney, despite being legitimately disabled, sick or terminally ill. (ALL MAW children must pass a panel review of their medical records).
Those kids are *ALSO* screwed, because Disney doesn't "like" how many people are LEGITIMATELY disabled.
MAW kids go through the "Lightning Lane" line, there is NO SUCH THING as "front of the line" service for Wish kids at Disney, and there hasn't been for at least 12 years.
They simply get an electronic all ride pass (it was called a "Genie Pass", and ONLY Wish families got them, until Disney stupidly changed Fast passes into paid "Genie+").

Disney is one of the most accommodating places to visit for people with electric scooters and wheelchairs. I know this because im a passholder and use a scooter. I have never once thought I needed to ask for a DAS pass. I simply get in line with my scooter and wait my turn. There are a couple attractions where my scooter cant go in line but thats ok because there are so many that it can. Disney bends over backwards to try and meet everyones needs. The castmembers have always been helpful and kind to me even with the added work of dealing with the scooters and wheelchairs such as loading them onto the busses or getting everyone lined up and in their places for attractions when many times dealing with people who dont know how to drive or correctly maneuver their scooters. As for autism and other mental health issues a hot, crowded, loud and chaotic theme park might not be a place to visit. Its not up to Disney to try and deal with mental issues. As for health issues such as IBS, which my sister has, once again Disney might not be the place to visit. If you do choose to be in the parks with any sort of mental, medical or physical issue there are many things you can do without waiting in a line. There are a few rides im not able to ride because i cant get in and out of boats or be jostled around. Im just grateful there are so many things I can enjoy with my disability. Ive never thought I needed special privileges and I accept that there are things I simply cant do at Disney. Disney is not a rehab, hospital or mental hospital. Its a theme park.

I'm still confused over DAS. To my knowledge my family never actually signed up for DAS. We never went to guest services or anything like that. But my Mom was in a scooter for mobility issues the last couple visits in 2016 and 2017 and we got in the ques but in many instances we were put into the Fast Pass queue which was more of a straight shot to the loading area. This wasn't DAS so much of a way to get wheelchair and scooter users to the loading areas easier as they may struggle to get through the regular queues for some attractions. I specifically remember this happening for Haunted Mansion. After the stretching room scene was complete the cast members took us a different way which went straight to loading rather than the standard queue. Does this change to DAS mean that even this assistance is no longer happening? I feel there has been little to no explanation as to what's happening other than there were changes and now only autistic people are eligible. I don't see this sticking for long to be honest.

Of course I work around this by drinking water, taking breaks in the ac, and keeping close to the shade, but if I just sit in an outdoor cue for 30 to an hour it weakens me. Also I have a bone conductor hearing aid which I can’t get wet. If I sweat too much it could cause issues. Also I have a service dog with a black coat, even if the normal cue was all inside I do not want her trapped in line with me where people think they can pet her.
