Invaders is a game for the Acorn Atom released by Acornsoft as part of Games Pack 5 in 1981. The author is Hugo Tyson. Also on this pack were the games Wumpus and Reversi.
The Acorn Atom Games Packs from Acornsoft featured three relatively simple games in each pack. Invaders is Space Invaders, plain and simple. This version of Space Invaders features 4 defensive bases to hide behind and three types of invader to shoot. A UFO crosses the top of the screen periodically and scores bonus mystery points, which seems to be 50, 100 or 200 points.
Gameplay is fine for a version on a compilation tape, but you would probably expect more if it was a stand-alone game.
This run was made on the 26th May 2024 using the Pantheon emulator on PC. There are no skill options and the final score was 3,050 points.
