20 years ago today this hit No2 on the Official UK singles chart. I’ve had my ups and downs over the years about how I felt about having co-written and co-produced this song… but it paid for my home, it paid for me to live for 4 years while I got my degree and masters, and the whole life I have now owes a massive debt to this song. Whether you love it or loathe it, I’m EXTREMELY proud of having co-written this 🎉❤. It’s nothing like as easy to write something this catchy and cheesy as people may think… and a huge thanks to Mike Stock, Bob Patmore and Steve Crosby for giving me the opportunity. To all those who make fun of this song or find it annoying, sorry!! Haha, but I got to achieve a great ambition, a childhood dream… I dreamed of writing pop songs, and I grew up loving Stock Aitken Waterman, and I got to write this with Mike Stock, and I had a Big hit single! To everyone who’s ever enjoyed this song, to anyone who it’s ever brought a moment of fun, thank you! That means such a lot to me x ❤❤❤
If I hear KFC, McDonalds, or Pizza Hut, I have flashbacks to hearing this song in the car. No offence to you, but hearing this every car ride when I was 5 has traumatised me.

When I first went to England this song hit it big. It blew my mind because throughout my childhood at day camps and sleep away camps in the 1980s, we sang the chorus part of the song, with the arm movements. I couldn't believe they made it a pop hit with verses. I bought the single for a friend of mine in America and when I gave it to them, they stopped speaking to me for a while - I think they were just stunned.

My music teacher taught this to us when I was in primary school. I grew up and became an early childhood educator and sing this to kids. It’s gone full circle 🥰
The cultural anthropology of this song is legit fascinating. Like even as a kid I recognized this as niche, like vaguely wondering why it exists, because it almost seemed like - beyond a fever dream - everyone around me collectively imagined this into existence. It just clicks in so neatly into playground lore that it was almost suspicious. So only recently I came to understand that it quite literally was imagined into existence, the chant "a pizza hut, a pizza hut..." has been documented to be sung by schoolchildren since at least the late 1980s, of which itself is a parody of a traditional Moroccan children's song, and this track just incorporates it as the refrain... and additionally interpolates the melody of a 19th century US patriotic standard? Man, this could be considered a global folk song.
Top comment ever. Get my man a trophy. You’ve delved into the recent and further history of an almost forgotten cultural phenomenon and tied it into not only its nation of origin but many other contributing countries and cultures. Well done
Ok, i never actually knew this was a full song! I was taught the chorus as a kid in school, with some extra fast food restaurants thrown in too. Never would have guessed this would be its own thing outside of a silly song for kids

Because even Boris Johnson loves that song and completely decided to ban all the UK fast food restaurants such as KFC, McDonalds, Burger King and many more during coronavirus pandemic outbreak until 7th May 2020.

As a 90s kid, this was played at every birthday party and school disco I went to. 😂🤦♂️

Blonde woman: “let’s eat, to the beat”
Me: how the f*** do you eat that fast?
Up with the teeth -chomp chomp chomp! Down with the teeth - gulp!
Fun fact in Glasgow union street it’s literally this song
One of these 2000s songs that sount straight out of the 90s
well during the 90s we were dancing to a version of it in PE at school. It might be even older than that.
This appeared in my workout music
I respect that.
Bring all of these songs back as I love you Lucy xxxxxxx
This song falls under the category of Barbie Girl, Easy Street, and Tarzan and Jane. I hate it but I love it all at once. Send help!
With Steps Scooch and Black Lace thrown in
Does anyone remember CutieMish from the late 2000's? I remember her doing this song and that's how I heard it.
i used this song in my lessons, this was pass on by my teacher during elementary. never thought its really a song
the nostalgia is overwhelming
This song is so bad it's good, the whole aesthetic, the whole lyrics, the whole style of music, perfectly obnoxious but in an oppositely pleasing way...
the perfect song to troll your friends wih annoying enough that laugh it and maybe get mad you but too mad to do something bad
Alright Karen
You accusing me of karenism?
@@fredriknewton2942 Yessss
Woah calm down I'm way too young to be Karen.
I cant stop listening to this
This was every birthday party I went to in my childhood
They really dropped this in the 90s /2000s and dropped from the face of the earth
Jaw on the floor...whaaaaaat the fuck, cocaine is a hell of a drug...RIP Rick James.
People in the stone age: "Berries!"
People now: "Mc Donald's! Mc Donald's! Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut!"
This song will replace any other that is stuck in your head 👍
This is my new favourite song
Because even Boris Johnson loves that song and completely decided to ban all the UK fast food restaurants such as KFC, McDonalds, Burger King and many more during coronavirus pandemic outbreak until 7th May 2020.

Younger me - yeah I love this song
Me now - this song is soooo dirty🤣🤣🤣
Michelle Crickmore you are so....right
This never gets old
Why does this song bring back so many memories
Childhood and ”Super Size Me” brought me here (intro of the 2004 documentary film showing a bunch of kids chanting the "A Ram Sam Sam"-based nursery rhyme).😂
One of those songs that just gets stuck in your head!
I luv this song so much I left 100000000 liked and subscribed
i remember this song soo fondly
This played at every kids club abroad in Spain and majorca who else remembers
Anyone who didn't have this song at any disco or birthday party as a kid missed out
National anthem of all Discord mods.
This song is so underrated. Ignore the lyrics and it's very well put together
Indeed, and if you ignore the melody as well its even more of a classic.
@@GwladYrHaf If you actually don't play the song at all, it's the greatest song of all time
Like a Rupi Kaur poem. Just beautiful.
Friend: "What were your meals for dinner during the week?"
Me: 0:12-0:27
This record completely passed me by back in the 2000s, and I'm grateful for that.
00s kids party. THIS WAS THE SHIT
Its exactly what 90s pop was all about, it was fun, still listen to ot now in my 40's. Good times when the world didnt take itself too seriously and before even breathing offended somebody!!❤😂🎉!❤🎉
This song wasn't released in the 1990s and to me, sounds more typical of the mid 2000s than even the late 1990s!
Britain at her finest. Absolute class. The colours, the gay that does nothing but dance and the innuendo. FABULOUS
Wait for a kid to say "GAY? XD"
@@toki5131ngl, that confused me. does it mean something like "colorful" or "joy" here?
@@triplem5770 Gay has multiple meanings but the most significant one is the homosexual gay
Oh was about to say’gay’? But den remembered means happy
@@eatinsomtin9984 na he 100% meant that martin guy in the video
I remember listening to this song at birthday parties when I was younger
I haven't heard of this song in awhile. Glad I did.
the blonde girl some how has the most intense eyes while looking completely dead inside, which I feel is accurate for working in food service.
Lol
Absolute POP classic. Totally underrated. 😎🤘
Agreed
If this not played on my graduation night then I’m leaving
Ummmmm this song brings back a lot of traumatising memories from dance class. I honestly can’t go past a McDonald’s without this song coming into my head! Make it stop! 😫😫😫😫😫
Regardless of how utterly ridiculous this thing is, you get the sense just about everyone was having fun with it. I love it for that alone.
Really? I get the sense it's an incredibly insidious marketing campaign
for the longest time i tought this was a SMILE DK. song
