Love it! Not sure I would pick a CJ to fly down the track. I have owned my CJ7 for 28 years. They are so much fun.
No problem I had a CJ 7 whit a 401 in it and a TH 400 cool ride
I had a 79, with a 258, that I could only describe as, some sort of sorcery.
Hooked to a th-400.
Swallowed all the juice, that a 650 dp could give it.
Never tore it down, to turn the sorcery into science.
But, it was much, much faster, than it had a right to be.
Cjs are fun!
Oh my, paddle tires and sand!!!!! I have owned several CJ's, 77 cj5 with built 401, and 78 with AMX 390, now 85 with Ford 5.0. Did some axle twisting in my day.
He won't be hitting 10 seconds with that motor....

At first I was gonna say what the hell. I thought I was looking at a mudder. I know nothing about gearing though. Friend of mine had a similar one 360 big block set up for mudding. Thing did wheelies on dirt. Friends v8 blazer did too. But in 2 low.
That was a ton of work for a 13 second 100 mph pass... Probably either the power isn't there or the torque converter is wasted.
13.0 at 100 tells you it's over geared, prob did 100 300 ft before the 1/4
I built a 0.30 over 10.0:1 compression 401amc V8 for my 74 CJ 5. Port and bowl worked Edelbrock performer heads , RPM Airgap intake , portmatched , Dougs ceramic coated Tri Y headers , Comp 268h cam , Harland Sharp RR , oil mods and Holley Sniper EFI ....Fast ? ....Insane is more accurate. I smoke the rear 32" mud tires while pulling the front tires 5-6" off the ground while screwing around and getting on it
That is super cool, but he has some work to do to hit 10's. Once he gets there it would be cool to see this thing vs the LSX willys!
Say he's pretty far off of his 10 sec goal. Hopefully he gets it dialed in seems like it should go 10s

I bet that CJ is fun to drive 😃🤙. I’m actually building a YJ with a forged 383 stroker with flat pistons and a set of 64cc/225cc heads 🤪😅. And I’m actually more excited to drive it than the camaro SS 2017 that I have 😅.
Hey Luis is your YJ up and running? If so you racing it or is it a partial daily driving rig? I have been thinking of doing a swap, and a smoothed out 383 (non aggro cam) would be great for idling over offroad obstacles. Working on getting axles set to handle it now. 8.8 rear chromoly axles and a carbon off road beefed 44 front. Should be able to take whatever I wanna toss in in it.

Had a 79 cj with a 73 360 AMC built ran 12.6 with 4.56 gears and a turbo 400 3200 stall fun fun little jeep...till my son crashed it into a 30 ft section of guardrail... Totalled!!! I was bullshit😫😫😰😰
I like it! but not too much of a sleeper because you can hear its got something mean under the hood

Dem sweet sugar walls. Maybe he has. But most likely he wants to keep the Jeep AMC and not another transgerder jeep with chevy motor in it. The 401 is a monster when it comes to torque and horse power but like everything else it needs to be combined good in order to work good. I honestly would take the 401 over the LSX when it comes down to torque. Yes the LSX is bad ass but the 401 was also a bad ass engine back in the day.

Tom Boyle The old Jeeps had an optional 304 V8. Years ago. I think the CJ5 offered that motor. Mayve a few others as well.

He needs to ditch the AMC engine, Put a Big block in it that's making near those numbers stock. Most of the way through I was like holy shit that thing is gonna be a beast, Oh wait, 350 hp to the ground?.... Come on now.... Don't...
But everyone puts big blocks and LS motors into jeeps now days its played out why not do something original. Like he did.
I agree, But that original AMC is damn slow even with speed parts put on it.
If that was making 350hp to the wheels at 3,500lbs it should of been much quicker than 13.2 at 100mph. It's a new build though so he's probably working the bugs out of it. Should get faster after a few runs in it. Not anywhere close to 10's though. Probably making 300hp to wheels if not less on that run.
a guy I know was running a 76 Jeep Wagoneer. He was trying to blow up the engine cuz it was a 360 and on its last leg, he had a big turbo and kept turning it up so he could have a reason to stuff a 401 in it. Took 45 pounds of boost to get it to let go. All that happened was a blown head gasket, so the engine largely remained together. These engines will take insane amounts of abuse and as such are worth keeping.
The guys jeep can be seen on youtube, look up ghinmi and you can see the jeep in action.
What he needs is an LS 5.3 engine why because its light and powerful in a small package plus it loves to rev high. Big block will just make it heavy with too much torque and will have hard time hooking up on the track since jeeps are rather light weight.
Lsx willys is still better doe....
