for those who are written that thier cover is not roatating they must have to use incandescent bulb. because of bulb heat internal air will be heated up and its try to esacp from bottle and it will rotate the cover
try to make that fan shaped top with less weight material because the heated air from the bulb will have less kinetic energy so it will not able to rotate the fan if it is heavier.
Im sorry i'm not good english user. Let me try. Lamp heat the air and make it warmer. Warm air flow up. Card board had cut like a fan. When warm air flow up and hit cardboard, that make cardboard rotating with bottle. But....... i don't know, is that really woking?😕
NO because the hot stream flow generated by the lamp, gets off by the grid.. thats how it turns.. if you go to any store (i saw it in Leroy Merlin) they are made of.. guess? plastic... !

Okay, making it spin this way is ingenious. Shame that it won't work with LED bulbs, finding an incandescent bulb is almost impossible where I live.

So only the inner part will rotate. the shadows from that cast onto the outer shade making it look like its turning.
Hi! I tried making one but the plastic doesn't want to rotate :'( can you tell me what I cudve done wrong?
1. wattage incandescent bulbs are not big enough.
2. The plastic is too thick, so the heat can not rotate the plastic bottle.

More the wattage more the heat outcome.. so try using 100 watts and above ...

Great Idea :) ! But the heat of the incandescent bulb would melt/deform the plastic if it is used for a long time.You should use LED bulbs.
LED doesn't emit enough heat for convection currents in the air to rotate the picture wheel

The bulb is going to melt the spinning tube. The plastic isn't going to withstand the heat from the bulb.
what is the reason for rototing?
Heat coming from the bulb rises & the hot air hits the angled blades causing them to turn.........simple physics

its depends of heat... if u reduce the diameter of that fan u can achieve the rotation.. for lesser heat
