Pyrethrins are a complex of six naturally occurring insecticidally active esters, all extracted from the yellow-centred daisy flowers of Tanacetum cinerariifolium (syn. Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium). Known interchangeably as pyrethrum, pyrethrum extract, and chrysanthemum extract, this plant-based active ingredient serves as the molecular template for the development of synthetic pyrethroids, one of the preeminent classes of insecticidal chemistry and has been used to control and eliminate problem insects for centuries.
Offering quick knockdown, superior flushing, and broad-spectrum activity, botanical pyrethrins work fast via contact-only action; while their long history of use, favourable toxicology profile, short environmental persistence, and versatile labels for formulated products, make this special active ingredient suitable for use in many sensitive applications, including:

􀁸 Animal housing, including on and over-animal treatments;
􀁸 Public health mosquito abatement;

This starts with where we, choose to grow and cultivate the pyrethrum daisy, and the plant material we bring into production. Our main growing regions are north-west Tasmania, a small island-state located off the southern-most tip of Australia, and the remote southern highlands in Tanzania, East Africa. Both growing locales provide geographic diversity for sustainable production, and the ideal climatic conditions and rich, fertile volcanic soils for the pyrethrum daisy to thrive.
Our specialist plant breeders use only natural methods to continuously improve our pyrethrum plant material - we don’t use gene technology, just traditional breeding methods. Our breeders screen hundreds of varieties each year and select only the hardiest, disease-resistant, high-assay yielding pyrethrum plants to introduce into commercial production.
In the field, we benefit from more than thirty years’ crop research and development which helps us continuously refine the way we, and our grower partners, sustainably maximise productivity using the minimum of inputs.
When the crop is ready for harvest, the flowers are cut and left to dry in the sun before the dried flower heads are collected and transported to our purpose-built processing facilities, where the active ingredient is extracted and refined in an advanced closed system using a proprietary process that does not alter the natural makeup of the pyrethrins in any way, shape, or form. The result is consistent, high-quality pyrethrins technical products and long-term supply reliability.

strange to think that it is so difficult to buy pyrethrum spray in Norway when clearly it would do very well here - who is prepared to send it to Norway???
