    About Me 👩🏽
Hi, I'm Akta :) I'm trying to find more meaning in my relationships, work, and life in general, because I think there's more to it than what society tells us. I try to approach things in a less overwhelming way, because I think there's already so much pressure on us from society.
    Come say hi!

Quit my toxic job and the whole industry I studied for and "making dreams come true" as well as a toxic relationship. 5 months later, I am this lazy girl, taking a step back to see what I am actually capable of, started at least 4 online courses, went to career shows and meetings so I can get a better glance what I SHOULD BE DOING. I changed my career choices like 5 times in the past few months. I needed your video to remind me I should be alright, that my feelings and fears are normal, and that my first (for the last 5 months) interview tomorrow would be okay. Even the edit and atmosphere of this video feels comforting to this episode of my life. Thank you, a new subscriber here!

This literally described the last 6 years of my life in 8 minutes.
Ive been hating myself for "wasting" my 20s ( I turn 30 next month ) and wondering why I couldn't get it together, decide on a passion and push for it with everything I had. I've since realized that it's because of all of what you described in this video. Thank you 🙏

Great video! I’ve taken a break from work and I have spent the last few weeks just looking after me and my mental health and doing self care things like organising my bedroom. And I’ve felt guilt that I should’ve been doing more and working on my dreams but this video has reminded me that the rest period was essential for me to move forward when I do ❤ thank you!

    Hi Akta 👋,
It’s good to see you back on TH-cam! As much as it’s important for us to be productive (especially at a time when it matters the most), what’s even more important is that we know how to balance prioritizing our productivity just as much as our own physical and mental well-being.

I'm stuck at the moment. I haven't been checking my messenger even though I'm supposed to because apparently, there's an event at school today which requires everyone's attendance but I'm home right now. I'm just lying on my bed, watching TH-cam while thinking that I'm wasting my life right now and how much of a disappointment I am to my parents who actually think I'm a good student. I want to cut off all communication in person and online because I don't understand myself anymore. I've been feeling down these past few days and letting down people. Sometimes, I want to cry and sometimes, I do cry because I feel my irresponsibility. My inactivity bothers me so much that it spurs on my overthinking. That's why stumbling on your video today is a blessing. Thank you, Akta. I've been trying so hard since last month but I don't think my effort has been paid off so now I don't feel like doing anything.

this is soooo me.... You'll never know how much I can relate to this. Thanks for sharing, atleast this makes me feel a lil better. I cried to my parents saying that I can't study anymore like I used to. They were really supportive and asked me to try once more. But I jus can't, idk why, I somehow lost the passion and spark in something that I thought was going to be my life/ future and now looking at the competitive world/escape the matrix shit makes me feel so scared for my life. It feels like we're all RUNNING for something thinking that it's gonna give us a better life while actually forgetting the real essence of life, i.e. LIVING. We're meant to live but unfortunately we're doing things that doesn't even make us feel like we're living. I hope everything gets better for you dear, much love to you

I was journaling this morning and your video synced with the feeling of overwhelm I have been experiencing recently. Our Ikigai is meant to evolve and change over time. Seeing laziness as a symptom rather than a diagnosis takes away the stigma. I have been on Dopamine Intermittent Fasting because I understand the importance of keeping a Social Media Image as a beginning Entrepreneur. When people look down on laziness it really is their inability to understand and empathize that we need relaxation and ease. Self-care allows the time to understand how our beliefs correlate or decorrelate to manifest solutions in how we can take action on our wants and needs. Thank you for your videos. :)

I agree and I lived that phase. But if this will go on for years or all our life? It's easy for things to become more and more irreversible (not really). When we should realize that we have to take control of ourselves, our dreams, our health, cause things are going bad and worse? That moment HAS to come. No one want really that for themselves, it's a comforting illusion...and then we look back and regret. If we're lucky there's still plenty of time regardless of what we had lost (like it has been for me), but if we're not...well.
When we should be gentle with ourselves and when instead we should give ourselves a slap on the face?
I hope you get my point ❤️‍🩹

    • @Akta
      @Akta  ปีที่แล้ว +1

No I completely agree with you! This video isn’t to say don’t follow your dreams, it’s to say to understand yourself and why you’re feeling lazy first so that you can process it instead of punish yourself over it. I feel like that will help us move forward more :)

I think it's awesome you decided to make a video explaining our shared existence and human nature in a short, breezy and tied-up way.
Naturally, we put pressure on ourselves to succeed in every endeavor imaginable because we often compare our progress to others without carefully considering their own situations and circumstances. But who can blame us for wanting to relax and feel happy with whatever it is outside of work or study??
I feel like Western society at large has a faster rhythm than other areas in the world too. Most of civilization doesn't act like we do because they want to live in the moment, be present with family and friends and show up for one another. And while they tend to be happier, we are stuck picturing what our lives would be like if we had more time to do things we might not even enjoy because they are "productive", "useful", and "intelligent". What matters most isn't always what gets us A's, makes us more money or helps us flex. Ultimately, we need to prioritize our values and search for answers within ourselves that will make us happy again.

Great video Akta! I like how you covered many important points: mental illness, privilege to be able to change careers and how society demonises "lazyness".
Personally i struggle with my mental health and due to that after doing work for uni and house chores i simply have no energy left to do anything more productive than watching netflix or scrolling ig.
Also I was thinking about the privilege thing, and i think that if you're able to change your career you shouldn't feel guilty bc others can't do it. It's just important to acknowledge this reality and not be one of those ppl who say that you're unhappy bc you're not trying enough. Ultimately, it shouldn't be that most ppl can't change their jobs, but that's the reality for now unfortunately.
And when we think about it like that, it can help us not feel guilty about having no energy to be "productive" if we're in the less privileged position.
Btw these are just my random thoughts, plz keep in mind that might not have considered everything here

I agree with all that you have said in this video. I have been feeling unmotivated for the past few months and I have been neglecting my health, job etc. since then. I talked to close family and friends and everybody told me something different. It did not solve my problem. I have always admired the way the Japanese take care of themselves and so I started watching some Japanese TH-cam videos with subtitles. I came across 2 videos that I really like - Nami's life and Nidones. Their lifestyle seems calming and beautiful and so I have incorporated some of it in my life. I am not sure how much it will help because I live in a different continent and a different environment.

I agree that laziness is more of a symptom to a problem, but I think in my experience of it, it's not that I'm no longer interested in what I do because I'm fascinated by it despite struggling to do it, but rather I have no strong sense of identity of myself who I'd be going through the hassle of work for. Can one work for themselves if they see no value or concept of the person they do the work for?

All wrong: cultivate the habit of discipline - then you'll be (1) offered more fun and high paying opportunities (2) better able to take take these opportunities (3) able to shape these opportunities to what you want
