I have never left a comment on anything, but I have to leave one now. This worked! Been struggling to find the issue for a week. Mechanics even looked at it and consulted=nothing. Fuses =nothing. Resets=nothing. Until I found your video! I had previously removed the actual switch and it would only power all the electronics on. But it would not start the engine! I did all of the steps numerous times (except the drilling) over the last few days - except for one. I did not have the actual key in the switch! So I saw your video, jumped out of bed at 1:00am, and went out to the car. I inserted the key. Then I took a screwdriver and turned the other switch. It started right up! Thank you so much! Now I can at least drive it to a mechanic or use it until I fix it myself! Awesome!
I don't normally reply to these videos as they do help. This video helped get the car started, but if you can't turn the key at all you can't unlock the steering wheel so, you can't drive the car if you can't turn the wheel. Is there a way to unlock the steering wheel??
@@ModologyMotorsports thats the best feature at this point.. I can unlock the hatch with key while car is running...(trunk lock switch hasnt worked in 15 years..) Just gotta make sure I have my keys on me upon exiting the car....the auto door locks love to lock me out when I shut the door...
check the shift lock on the transmission shift lever first. see if the small collar around the shaft is stuck in the down position and move the small ring to the up position. if the collar is in the down position the shift lock solenoid will not send a signal to the key cylinder lock mechanism to unlock the key. this collar needs periodic lubrication so spray the shift lever shaft with some wd40.
hehe... good find. you can turn the car into a card reader ignition if you put the key chip in a card that can slot onto the ring, and then use a knob on the cylinder crank receiver.
you gonna locate the sidebar that's locking up the cylinder in the body. Drill to locate & pull the sidebar out, drill the wafers if you don't have a key and clean the shavings out with a pick then the cylinder will allow to turn. turn to acc and depress retainer and the ignition lock cylinder will slide out
You only have to drill if it's stuck in the off position. If it's in the on position then the release pin is lined up and if you stick something in that hole it will release the lock cylinder. When you drilled it in the on position you destroyed that release pin.
No, not yet. I ran into some bigger problems with my other car. Still planning on going back to working on getting the switch out, and I'll make a follow up video.
my father in law had a simular problem only differrance was his key only went in a little bit and he had to call out a locksmith and they had a bitch of a job getting it out even though it was drilled out fully but in the end it came out and it was fixed butgreat thinking and ill be keeping this video handy in case it goes again
You ever get the cylinder out? I have the same problem. Bought the ignition cylinder, but can't seem to get it out just like you. That allen screw for the black ring was a b*tch to get out. lol Sausage fingers.
Since I couldn't get the switch to turn anymore, I ended up just drilling the entire thing out. It kinda came out in several pieces, but it was out finally!

Same
perfect fix for a friend's rally car! thanks for sharing!
Thanks 4 sharing this...my ignition is pretty shot as well...seems to be common on Fords
If you can pull the key out with the ignition running.... It's the beginning of a future faulty switch.

I have a 2015 fiesta, and I'm currently having the key turn to on. But it won't go further. What do I gotta get to just fix it right?
Can't do this with a manual can you? Even if in neutral?
So my issue is that my key gets stuck in after I drive, I’ve gotta unplug the fuse from behind the wheel in order to get my key out every tine
I'm going to try this. Thanks.

yeah I was looking for how to remove my key...homeboy tought us how to hotwire and steal the car ?!!!
Believe it will still check for proximity of the electronic key.
With the steering wheel locc, you won't be able to steer the mug
You only have to drill if it's stuck in the off position. If it's in the on position then the release pin is lined up and if you stick something in that hole it will release the lock cylinder. When you drilled it in the on position you destroyed that release pin.
This work to start the card but my my steering wheel won't move
Did you ever get the switch out
