The scruffy looking bugger in the Hellfire Club tee shirt is my son!
Still playing guitar and occasionally gigging.

It's so weird looking at how lively it was back then! I've lived in Stourbridge since I was born and it's nothing like that now...So many shops out of business/derelict

Stourbridge boy born and bred here. I was born in 1993 so this was a bit before my time. I've seen old videos and photos of how lovely the town centre looked. I hate the one way traffic of the high street where it gets congested and the ring road is a pain to get on and off during busy times. Now in the 2020s it's so dull and unlively, there is no place worth going to and there is barely anything to do. I think when the ring road was built it made everywhere else around the high street more chaotic.

0:53 the ring road was built ,so that the traffic would not go down the high street ,what a waist of time that was

Grew up in Brierley Hill but my Auntie and Uncle lived in Oldswinford, so used to go to Stourbridge with them on Saturdays. Great memories here, its such a pity it's not like it now! Something went very, very wrong in the space of 30-odd years!

this is amazing. i am out in cairo on business and was having a nostalgic moment about me 'ome town of stour. I went to king edwards with the blonde girl looking surprised earlier on and also saw hellfire club at the town hall. That was from 1983 to 1985 so the guesses on the years seem abouy right. thanks v much for the memories, means a lot, cheers

I lived in Kinver and went to King Edwards college 1983 to 1985. I remember the punk- and going to Boots to buy my goth eyeliner.I spotted my friend Sarah Hill with the bob hair 29 seconds in. Seems another lifetime ago- simpler ,happier times.

Been looking at a few videos with 80's footage: Birmingham, London, Wolverhampton, Dudley, Cradley Heath, Manchester. What surprises me is the lack of obese folk back then.

I watched this through a few times, looking for anyone I knew when I went to Stourbridge College, aka Foley College, between '81 and '83. I didn't recognize any of the younger people who might have been students, so maybe this was later in the 80s. Some of them appeared uncomfortable when they noticed the camera pointing at them!

They knocked down Bell Street Leisure centre in the late 80's if I remember rightly and replaced it with the Crystal. The old leisure centre used to have an outdoor pool.

@tonimusher 1985 for me, sadly i don't have much memory of stourbridge back then, makes you think where the past 20+ has gone. i'd go back too the 80's tommorow and do it all again.

a reminder how it used to be. I worked in Stourbridge in 1987, Foster Street - remember all what what shown with the Ryemarket I think it was called and never forgetting the Moorings pub down at the bottom of the ring road. Good stuff!! :)

Wow, this is amazing stuff. Amazing as I was born in 1987. Alot of the shops are different now, but I still know exactly where the cameraman is filming from. And even Boots, it looks different even though its still a boots in 2009.

I worked in Stourbridge in th 80s so it all looked familiar to me. Alas I saw neither myself nor anyone else I recognised.
It all looks so dated on video - the clothes, the hair-styles, the cars - yet in my memories it seems just a short while ago ^_^
Interesting how everyone was noticing the camera. Today they wouldn't care since they are everywhere...

    • @mikekaraoke
      @mikekaraoke 5 ปีที่แล้ว

SAHBfan-Ummmm your comment makes no sense- There were some people in that video like girls that had short hair or pony tails or just very long hair + some had a perm -The men some had puffy hair or mullet but some has shaved head or very short hair...And the clothes-Some had coloured shirt or logo t-shirt, Jeans + trainers on and others had those patterned brown jumpers on-Same with women with jeans and a top and leather jacket or coat which people have now so shouldn't look all dated -But only saw a few with shoulder pads
      so confused by your comment
+ the cars some of them were from the 70's that were still driving around tin the 80's, Where as some of them were 80's-Some of 80's cars do look dated now but some of them don't again a mixed bag
And back then Video Camera's were obvious when someone was filming, Where as today sometimes you wouldn't know as would look like they were txting......
