Even tho I have been enjoying this season so far, I miss the way they show cased the fights in previous seasons. I loved seeing them activate skills, showing the costs and what the card does and it helped me learn so much more about the game. I really hope they bring that bad for this season

I stopped playing during the stride generation era and totally hyped for the new game on switch vanguard deardays. I was hoping to learn the mechanics on this season.
@@lucky_nintendo_gaming Watching the anime certainly helped me learn some of the new mechanics and an idea of what the cards do. I do like that at the end of an episode they do a "card highlight" where they talk about a card and its skill. I heard Dear Days will provide a substantial tutorial for newcomers! SO excited!

Talk about throwing him to the wolves. Poor Yu-yu, and finally some imagination shenanigans. It really does liven the card battles up though the scale is a bit worrisome for Planet Cray.
Damn that fight with Yu-yu vs. Danji was so freaking hype!! I am loving how clean the animation has been in this series
It's a nice touch too that Yu-yu is overlooking from above as he rides Nirvana while his Rear guard is battling Danji (Bruce).

I'm loving this animation style but am I the only one that's slightly annoyed that they're not doing the card fights like in the original series? I enjoyed the cardfights as if you were playing the game itself
Not the only one. That’s one of my biggest issues with Overdress. Hating the new format of the fights.
Really wish the fights went back to the OG / G era.
The first episode did amazingly well for Danji's fight-scene; unless they can do something like that more often, I would also prefer the old style--it was part of what gave OG Vanguard its teeth as a show, that really pulled you in.
P.S. I almost fell out of my seat when I realized THEY'RE USING CARDSLEEVES.
Wixoss tells you less about game but anyone who actually plays can tell are doing all the steps.
They even have characters freaking out because they cant draw a card or counter strats being used

Man, that song that started playing when Yuyu got the overTrigger was HYPE, and in all senses of the word perfect for the theme of his deck as well. Vairina was cool and all but it was wild seeing Nirvana like that, especially with Yuyu on its head!

That is my only complaint about overdress so far. I just want to see the fights like in the original show.

This series is having it so danji introduces yuyu into the vanguard world because he sees something in him, then having to go because more important matters are taking to much time.

The card fights in this new series bore me to tears because the presentation of them is so basic they don't even have battle music anymore no character ride themes the presentation doesn't pull me into the action at all compared to previous iterations of the show where after every episode id get so fired up and want to go play vanguard online with my friends and feel that same fire with them. Now it's just sooooo boring

It's a bit hard to follow along though, as someone who's never watched or played Vanguard before.
Unlike Yu-Gi-Oh which went the length to explain the function of the cards, this is fast-paced but also harder to track.

This has been great so far, really love the characters and that Soul stacking though, gave me a chuckle. Also love how the anime is more about the characters, sure the fight scenes are short but they were satisfying.

I love how the series focuses on the card battles... without too much unnecessary sci-fi on top... oh... wait... there it is! Spoke too soon. Looks awesome though.
The show is doing a mighty fine job getting me hyped for the release of the new decks and the first booster box.
I like how this show isn't a blatant advertisement, but it puts focus on solid animation and even better character work. And I honestly think that it's great for doing that.
It gets you pumped!
I'm gonna be honest here, the cardfight animation is amazing but it ends so quickly; if feel like the imagination part of the battle will only appear when the fight is about to finish.
Well that means better consistency on those scenes

@@vanguardtrainer924 I think they mean that more time can be spent on the sakuga side of it, seeing as the imagination bits need to be more animated than they used to be, barring in the Neon Messiah movie. Having less intensely-animated bits, they can splurge more on higher-quality sakuga, I would assume, and thus get a more consistent/smooth scene out of it

Well... This was a pretty good episode.
I like the direction this story is going in. I don't think i've ever seen this sort of mentor/apprentice angle really explored as thoroughly before in either G or the original series.
Well Kai was never really Aichis “mentor” per say, but a goal for Aichi to set for himself and reach on his own.
Chronos the one who got the master / student relationship with Kamui.
I have only known danji for a total of about 50 mins and my heart sank when he said he’s quitting vanguard....🥺
I’m with him, this new show and game pretending to be Vanguard sucks.

Honestly the first half of the episode really reminded me of CFVG G because you know special training, but of course the second half blew me away with that amazing animation, also I'm guessing that all fight scenes will be executed this way so that they can get to the point, It's similar to V-series only this series executes it better in my opinion.

Looks like they’re continuing to fail at actually showing card games in this new series. Disappointing since being able to learn and build decks from the anime was the original selling point.
This series will focus more on the characters and story, not that much in the card game, they are taking a different aproach, and i'm really liking it, OG Vanguard was more of a promotional material for the card-game than an anime
"Original selling point". Overdress is doing its own thing, it doesnt need to follow the rules of the previous series.
Also if you're depending on the anime to do your deckbuilding you're sadly mistaken. Anime decks are hot garbage and are made solely on what is new and what is effective.

Lmao, I don’t copy and paste deck lists from the anime. But deck lists in the anime generally contain the core cards of a deck, because Bushiroad pushes those exact decks and cards.

As for Overdress being its own thing in terms of the anime. Starting to seem that way, and I’m allowed to be disappointed about that. I’m saying fail because that’s how it’s always going to look to me. Never dissed the anime, just not what I liked.

The old seasons also skipped almost the entire fights and barely had any animation to begin with.
@@elin111 I remember watching the first episodes of the first season a few years ago and they usually said "picture it in your head" and you would see the field with the monsters, and they described what they were doing better. It wasn't much, but at least you could see what was going on and follow it (I say this because I remember being able to follow the matches, while here I haven't been able to follow even one since the first episode)

The fights just need to be longer honestly.
Sorry for the ramble, tldr is I like the idea that they're trying a different direction for the show but so far the execution is lackluster in parts imo.
My thoughts so far are that now that I've thought about it, I appreciate what they're going for by focusing on the characters but I'm not really a fan of any of them bar Danji so far but that may change.
Also while the fight scene was really well done (in terms of animation), I also feels a bit lackluster as there's no real meaning behind the action and I feel there could've been some more character interactions in the fights.

Because it is Cardfight Vanguard. Aichi blushed a ton before, so we are already used to main characters with blue hair blushing all the time.

But the reason why Aichi was blushing all the time at the beginning was because he’s shy not because he’s thinking dirty things. That was more like best friends but this is more like actual crush I mean Danji not Yu-yu. Yu-yu’s actually very shy like Aichi. Now that I think about that other series Kai did seem like he could be gay I mean Kai’s behavior towards Aichi and Ren and even Miwa and Kamui (in legion mate arc). Legion mate arc Kai was specially very cringy I mean it’s his character development arc but still it’s way too much. Good thing he becames more like a normal person after that in G era.
