Too much airflow man, Jacob's Ladders hate wind and the outdoors! Great video, btw!

Hahaha so THAT's why I can't get even ONE ladder to work huh? Thanks!

@@theplasmaprince8651 No problem! Some people even put weak fans under their ladders to help them run better, so you might try that next time you run a Jacob's Ladder outside.

@@LabCoatz_Science you could try to put up a screen of some sort to block the wind.

Question what did you use for your ballast in your Solid stateTesla coil?

Try a 15k NST next time it works way better and at 32 mA it's also much safer
I recommend checking with sign shops they usually have used ones just collecting dust and can be purchased very cheap $20 to $30 usually

Seriously?? I have two NST's one of which is actually a 15KV, but I've never ever seen them so cheap! I'd love to get another for such a low price...
I did actually end up using my 15Kv transformer at the end, it worked better like you said (:

Absolutely horrifying safety around that MOT!!!! You should never be that close to that mot!!! Tape an electrode to the end of a long PVC pipe next time. You trust those cheap chinese gloves to not burn through as soon as that arc blows in the wind to your hand?

Settle down now, there is no need for aggression, I'm a-okay! (: Those gloves aren't very cheap, and the handle of the screwdriver could take way more voltage than the gloves. So considering the laws of addition, there is no way that 2300 volts could have bit me. Thanks for your concern though!

@@theplasmaprince8651 Just remember, when you start mot-stacking, those gloves are a no go. The bigger the arc, the easier it is for it to blow around without breaking.

@@theplasmaprince8651 Paradox is right. Your silly lab coat and gloves are not appropriate. As far as I can see the screwdriver is not even of the type that is made for electrical work so how would you know if it is insulating? Just get yourself an arc stick out of PVC. If you use one about a meter long you can safely arc with up to 100kV. Although with these extrem voltages you would want to ground the stick between the electrode and your hand.
