I have that Princeton Neptune brush set too, got it 2-3 years ago and use most of them regularly. I especially love the cat's tongue shape. I don't use it for floral or leaf shapes, instead I like to use it when I want to go back and forth between large and smaller shapes without changing my brush. For example when you're painting a background, you can cover a lot of area but then go in with the point for getting the small details around your subject. Also it's great for painting loosely since you can make a variety of large and small brush stroke shapes with it.

I have some Michael Harding and although it is very pleasant to use, I don’t understand why the usual basics most artists use such as, Ultramarine blue, burnt sienna, Hansard yellow etc. They have some very lovely, unique colours which I don’t mind paying for, but I definitely feel that series 1 and 2 are over priced. Wonderful to use, but simply put, very painful on the pocket…! 🖌️👩🏻🎨🎨🤔🤷♀️
Yes it's definitely best to get them on sale - I think they're competitively priced in Europe against Schmincke, since Daniel Smith is prohibitively expensive here, I'm not sure where you live but that's my assumption!
Holbein gouache is wonderful. I love WN Designers gouache too, but I think Holbein edges them out a bit. If it weren't so pricey here in the US, I'd probably make it my go-to gouache. I know Schmincke is supposed to be as good or maybe better than Holbein, (is that possible?) ...I haven't had a chance to try it...but it's even pricier than Holbein. Oh well...😊

That "weird texture" looks like granulation. Granulation doesn't usually happen in cheaper and student grade paints, but happens in more professional grade paints that use more expensive and true pigments. However, the granulation in these paints do look "weird" and dont look like typical artist grade granulation, but look like very slight, weird textured granulation.

Looking at the rose gallery watercolours that you mentioned were quite right from what I can see on your paper. They look like granulate in watercolours I have over there 50 Rosa gallery water colours and I agree they are beautiful. They do have a few granulate in colours but I haven’t had an issue with any of them. And also a lot of people keep saying that there almost artist quality, but the thing is they are actually artist professional grade watercolours. They just happened to be one of the best prices around
People say they are "almost artist grade professional" because if you look at the pigments used for the paints, they mostly use multiple pigments in each color, and they use mostly cheaper pigments. Artist grade paints have single pigment colors and multiple pigment (convenience colors), and they don't only use cheap pigments. Rosa doesn't have more expensive pigments like DS, W&N, Sennelier, etc. I can also tell that these are definitely not artist grade by looking at that ultramarine. There is zero granulation in Rosa's ultramarine. Every artist grade Ultramarine I have used has had some granulation, even Mijello's single pigment ultramarine has granulation.

It also has to do with availability some are cheaper because it’s easy to access, or fined, while others are more expensive because they’re hard to source and are very rare. Granulation also has a lot more to do with how Findlay the pigment has been ground than its quality. Senniler like you said is an artist grade Watercolour and they’re ultramarine does not granulate very much and that is because it is so finely ground, they talk about this on their website, but it doesn’t change The fact that it is artists grade. To be fair, I like Daniel Smith a little bit more too, with my Roman Szmals and A.Gallo set. I’m just saying from my experience and what I’ve learnt and from what I’ve seen from a few others and read they are definitely in the artists quality league. Price is very subjective. I understand what you mean by a single pigment or multiple pigments, making convenience colours, but that doesn’t really have anything to do with whether they’re Artis grade or not if it did, Daniel Smith would be in a lot of trouble, out of 261 colours, 157are pure pigments, however, the rest of their colours all 103ish are mixed, but they are all considered artist. Great. And the variation in series doesn’t have to do with their quality, just how much the pigment has cost, therefore how much it will then cost us and the rarity of its availability. Pure pigments, only comes in to it if you’re a purist, and you like to only work with single pigments and mix your own due to the fact that if you use two or more colours that have multiple pigments to make them up, they tend to get muddier much faster. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion, though, and preferences.
