In this tutorial, I'll show my method for creating cinematic, collage style designs with 3D text. There are lots of ways to do this in Adobe Photoshop, this is just my method. Hope you learn something!

21:36 Don’t know if you know this but you can bring back or erase more of the background on the layer mask with the white and black paintbrush tool. Basically you could‘ve reverse back for example his hair with the white brush on the layer mask on before rasterizing it. (The black color brush stands for erase & white is for reverse)

FYI: I heard an Adobe rep saying Adobe is going to be removing 3D capabilities from Photoshop in an upcoming update. I'd say it's likely because they now have a 3D suite on a separate subscription. You'll still have access to Photoshop's 3D features for a while if you keep your current version whenever that update drops, or you can do 3D text in Adobe Dimension.

Is the mock up method different for DTF printing for black tees, ive removed the background for my designs and received prints back that dont match the quality of my design, any advice please?
That's tough, all I can really recommend is to make sure that you're using high-resolution photos and 300 DPI for your canvas. If you can, also try to build the graphic from the start with the intention of printing DTG. So that might mean approaching your design in a different way, using the eraser tool instead of gradients, avoiding outer glows, etc.

Just wondering, if someone wanted to make a design that would wrap around a whole tshirt or hoodie, would they have to make it a certain way in photoshop to make the wrap look clean?
I've seen clean belt prints, but they're typically one color. Otherwise you'd be looking at a custom cut and sew piece. I'd recommend asking your printer what method is best.
Can you do one for comic books?
Possibly, but I try to stick to styles that I've done for other projects and I don't do a ton of cartoony/comic work. Thanks for watching though!
Can you make a video on how to use brushes and the right set ups for them ? I brought your bootleg t shirt pack and the flames and the earths come out black
That's because your foreground color is set to black. Gotta change that to whatever color you want the brush to be. Appreciate the support!
My dawg DTG does have a white under base when printing on dark colors. But it doesn’t give the effect like how you made. So, you would indeed have to create the look in PS as you did.

I don't have the mesh tool show up for me when I go to the 3d extrusion layer, any idea why?
Photoshop made a bunch of changes to their 3D effects capability, so unfortunately many of the methods I used in this tutorial are no longer available.
Once you have your design where do you go to actually order it on a shirt?
Throw up a Facebook and Instagram post asking for recommendations in your area for screen printers. With any luck, you'll get some suggestions for local businesses. I always recommend going local if possible.

What PC would you reccomend for designing t shirts?
I'm used Macs for so long, I couldn't recommend anything. Maybe just hit TH-cam and search "best PC for graphic design"?
@@FULLERMOE I had gotten a Mac PC last month...gonna get some getting used to from Windows to Mac but it should be ok
so if you decide to do that white underbase look towards the end of the video to give it that vintage look does that eliminate me being able to dtg print it? I tried to get a sample with a printer but they specificaly said if the design is going on a black shirt please make sure it has no white background. Im not sure if they are referring to what you added to your design in the video or a litteral white background. Please let me know id like to dtg print my desing with that more printed look but if its not possible id like to know also.

8:25 maybe convert the text file to a smart object first, open the smart object file on a new tab & do the 3D process/work there in stead & then save?
That might work! I’ll have to try. Because surely cropping the canvas is not the easiest way haha.
Fuller Moehagen When you open the smart object file right away, it will automatically set the object dimension file size to the object size. When you click save after editing the smart object file on a new tab after open it, it will save automatically the original pre opening smart object file to the version you just did the editing process on. (Maybe you might know this process too)
Alright so check this out I’m very very new to your channel and it aligns perfectly for what I’m trying to do with a shirt that I’m attempting to create however everything I purchased before getting to your channel was based around cricket design cutting vinyl etc. Which is a good investment but unfortunately it’s only good enough to start the project I am currently working on and as for finishing a project lead me here sooo seeing as though I know nothing about Photoshop I’d love it if you had some time to work with me on a project for some thing that I am hoping to put out in the future… Would love to hear back from you at your earliest and keep up the amazing content 🙏🙏🙏

Still having issues? Make sure you're dragging the ASL file to the Photoshop icon and not inside the program itself.

Make sure your color mode is RGB and you're not in Greyscale.

I always use 15" x 25" 300 DPI resolution for t-shirt designs

Pls listen to what he says in the end at the 53:10 . There is a million ways to do this , this is the most basic way. If everyone follows this tutorial then all we would have is people selling the most basic tees. This is a great foundation to get started but by no means is the end. Creativity CANT be taught.

Ahhh, I'm not great at that style to be honest. A lot of it is actually pretty bad design, but I love Isolation and some of the Half Evil stuff.

Pretty much anything can be screen printed, just depends on the expertise and experience of your printer.
I ENJOYED THIS ONE
For some reason when I try to make a 3d extrusion with the text it doesnt work. I try to change the extrusion depth but I dont even see the grid that is supposed to pop up and it doesnt do anything. Any idea why this is happening ?
Hey fuller what are your thoughts on learning illustrator? Is it worth it as well as photoshop?
I think you should learn Illustrator well enough to accomplish what you're trying to do. For example, I used to do a lot of branding/logos as well as tech packs for custom garments. So I had to learn the basics enough to get that sort of stuff done. It's a great tool, I recommend at the very least knowing the basics so you can work between the two programs interchangably.

Possibly! I'd need to see an example of what you mean though, I'm not much of an illustrator.
Is it legal to use photos from films as long as they are edited?
I'm not a lawyer...but I don't think you can do that. You'd have to HEAVILY edit them, probably beyond recognition. Otherwise doing an illustrated version and referencing the movie in other ways might be a better route.
