Oop sorry forgot to tell you what's next! In a week I'll be posting my introduction to the Legends of Runeterra game, this got me hyped ngl, might try the game! The video will be available on Patreon later today via early access. Then I'm gonna do Jhin voicelines. I wanna make some Halloween videos too (Fiddlesticks is sadly already done haha but we found some other stuff). And overall if you're interested what's to come: voicelines for Evelynn, Aurelion Sol, Pyke in between reactions to additional and canon Riot Games content like Legends of Runeterra, Mageseeker and Convergence. Then we will dive into alternate universes!
Good stuff! Jhin & A-sol voices will be interesting! I hope you'll get around to the other Darkins since you already did Aatrox a while back! Your helper did say he thought my suggestion was for alternate universe stuff, so sadly we missed that opportunity back then haha!
Basically, all those voicelines that you didn't understand are linked to one of his ability. When he uses his passive or an enemy champion is killed, they drop a soul fragment that he can get to increased his HP permanently. But if you catch Soul fragments from an enemy champion that died near you, Swain as special voicelines, as he could "see" some secrets from his victims. For exemple, with Ashe, he says "She claimed it was the Frost Queen's grave. They believed her.", in reference to the fact that Ashe's bow is probably not Avarosa's, or with Jinx he says "Faces fading in the flames. It was all her fault." refering a well known event in Arcane !
Black rose is an ancient cult of powerful people all around the world, led by Leblanc (lady with purple hair. She is ancient mage who lived for centuries and manipulated the main events in history of Runeterra, so thats why she called Swain "boy").
If league of legends shows a raven with 3 eyes, it is swain related
If league of legends shows a crow, it is fiddlesticks related

This is the reason I always recommend skin spotlights channel for Swain voicelines. They give you the context of who he is talking to. And since he holds Raum, the demon of secrets, his interactions are the interesting part of his voicelines.
Also, I think you have seen the wiki one time in a video, but it would be cool to incorporate it into future champion reactions. The sections "Relations" and "Trivia" have a lot info that you don't generally get elsewhere.
And yeah, they called him cripple because after he lost his hand in the Ionia invasion he also needed a cane to walk because Irelia also shattered his knee. Raum was a replacement for his hand. It's all in the bio.
The Katarina comic explains a lot of things with Swain, and is also connected to the Lux comic

28:20 in that part he is not offending. Everytime he kills someone, Raum, the demon of secrets collects the secrets of that person. He is just saying what Raum shows him.
When it comes to LoL wiki I research it on my own before each video so I more or less know the chapions and his story :)
@@StopMeOh A good number of champions voicelines, especially new or reworked ones, revolve around in game interactions and not story based things. A lot of them were his lines when killing specific champions.
@@StopMeOh The quote you were confused about is pretty important in the big scheme of things "One king is in the mist while the other is waiting" - means Viego AND Mordekaiser, who was actually ancient king of Noxus but when he died and arrived in the afterlife which was a wasteland where everyone slowly lost their minds he didn't break and became a king of the dead. One of the reason Swain is focused on acquiring more power is to prevent him from coming back to the world (again), now with countless army of dead people or at least have a chance of resisting.
Also, Swain killed the Emperor of Noxus because he went insane and started executing everyone after he launched and was failing invasion to Ionia where he was ordering war crimes every other day - similar to The Song of Ice and Fire's/GoT mad king, he is also trying to unite the world to better protect it from equivalent on The Night King.
The Black Rose is a secret society led by ancient sorceress Le Blanc.
Demons are quite real and there are at least 10 main ones - some are Fiddlesticks, Nocturne, the one within Nilah and Swain and I guess the one Pantheon fought (which I learned about from your reaction XD). I guess there is a lot of new lore.

The comment at 5:22 about Swain reminding you of Tywin Lannister is more accurate than you might realise. Swain's VA, James Faulkner, played Randyll Tarly in Game of Thrones.
14:04 that line was for jinx. Its when he encounters her in the game. Fun fact, this line was released years before arcane was even announced. We didnt know what Swain was talking about back then but it all made sense after seeing episode 3. If you also listen to Warwicks voicelines for Jinx he sometimes says "There was a fire, you were there." in the game. The story of arcane was really thought through.
Swain is one of the three leaders of Noxus but he is the head of them, he likes to be called Grand General, but he is Noxus' Emperor.
Swain do be goated for voicelines! I think he's Pantheon level good.

The thing about league's lore is once it begun it was just a bonus so the world was black and white eg Demacia being good and Noxus being evil. But ever since the redcon of the lore in 2016 during asol release they tried to make the world more grey. That's why they made mages despised in Demacia and Noxus accepting anyone. The Noxus invasion on Ionia was prior to the redcon but it was widely known event so they keept it changing only context. Originally Darkwill wanted to conquer Ionia, in current version Darkwill was a puppet of Black Rose and he wanted to throw Swain into battle he couldn't win in which Swain would die, a plan that didn't succeed and led to Swain killing Darkwill after retreating from Ionia.
lines about dragons and stuff (which make no sense in canon universe) are for skins. these skins are like parallel universes. his quotes against heimerdinger with dragons is like from "parallel universe" where he is a dragon slayer (the skin is called dragonslayer swain)

Yone is linked and partially posessed by an azakana, thats why he is one of the few champions who can see raum with swain.
The thing is he is like "omg... if im having so much problems with an azakana how is possible that guy voluntarely linked himself with that monster :d".
To put an example, if demons were pokemons... what yone has is like a lvl20 charmander... what Swain has is more like a lvl100 darkrai XD
Indeed if thoose 2 would meet, swain could just controll yone, since azakanas obey anyone that guess their true name, and thats pretty easy for "the demon of secrets".
For the future, I would definitely recommend a comprehensive champion interactions voice line vid!

Context:
in lore of league of legends and derivated games, Demons are evil spiritual entities that use the negative energy from the humans to make themselves stronger.
They start as azakanas in the spirit world, but when an azakana makes himself strong enough he can evolve into a demon, gettign a physical form to cross to the physical world and attaching himself to a specific negative feeling (the most pure is that negative energy and the more time the demon feeds himself, he will become stronger, thats why the first ones are the most powerfull).
Knowing that, Fiddlestics, the demon of fear was the first demon, so when he see another demon he says his true name to make him know he is stronger.
When he sees Swain he says Raum, because Swain is linked spiritually to raum to the point they count as the same entity, so he basically counts him as if they were the same thing.
You are doing a great job getting into this deep dive, even players of LoL take their time to connect all the stories between the lines.

Here is talking about jinx (and he spoiled this from 2018 as he did with many champions and events XD).
Here is the context. Swain's powers and habilities comes from one of the most ancient and powerfull demons known as Raum, the demon of secrets.
He is spiritually linked with him, so he has the control over the demon , free access to all his knowledge and of course, free access to use all his powers as if it were from him).
What you see in this part of the video is swain absorbing jinx's soul and reading all his experiences, in this case, he is using his most deep secret to make himself stronger.
Fiddlestics also uses this secret but from the perspective of the fear, what means this traumatic event we saw in arcane S1 E3 was both, his deepest secret and his worst fear (jinx basically blames herself beacuse all that happened to her daughter Vi, to her adoptive father Vander, and to his best friends was because of his failure).
Btw, There are a lot of references to Swain in arcane, even direct mention when medarda told mel about what happened with her brother. That "man that was gaining more and more influence on the empire every day" was probably him, since arcane happens in the 5 years lapsus where swain was completing his plan to take raum with him and taking the power of noxus for him.
So... yes, he is like silco, but far way better, specially because he allways success. Also is probable that we can see him as one of the main characters in Arcane S2 or S3 :p

the father of Sam Tarly (in Game Of Thrones) is the Voice actor for Swain

Noxus has a bad image due to them being ''the bad guys'' in leagues old Lore. Nowdays they are a conquering empire do to the fact the region Noxus was founded was very dry and devoted of resources, so collecting them from outside was the only means of survival Noxians had. They came to the conclusion it was better to add more regions to their empire in order to make it stronger and so Noxus has followed that idea for centuries. Despite being conquerors, Noxus remains as the most diverse and welcoming Nation as long as one can prove their own worth and their strenght. It is also worth noting that Noxus doesn't just rules the conquered regions with prejudice and an iron fist, instead they build infrastructure and help the local economy thrive, hence why parts of the old and long gone Shuriman Empire were happy to join the empire in order to escape the graps of crime barons!
When you listen to a champion's voice lines, look for interactions, as that will show who he is talking to too.

Before The Mageseeker game was released earlier this year (a game about Sylas & Demacia), they released a comic about Katarina on Webtoon and Swain was in it. I think you'd like it.
"The girl who came back" when referring to Kassadin was Kai'Sa who is heavily believed to be his daughter.
Hello. I saw the title of the video. This reminded me of(please don't hate all of it) Aamon from Mobile Legends. He says: it's better to be feared than loved ,if you can not both.
I ffeel like Swain's voice lines are a good example as to why there are always those who recommend Skins Spotlight's videos, because without context, these lose quite a bit of their punch. It also ties back to the thing you were saying about getting somewhat lost with the stories of champioms you've already learnt about, since some of these are general reminders of their stories, and when the context is added, it would be easier to remember it all
Yeah Noxus is an empire built in a place where its really hard to live, so its citizens are forced by nature to be "Strong" to take better lands for themselves, this obssession with Strength, not only physical but of character, power in general has made them "look Evil" but at the same time they also have a tendency of respecting strength to the point where, it doesnt matter where you were from, as long as you are Strong and you are part of Noxus, you are accepted, and No one will treat badly, unless you show weakness.

I like pantheon's bakery vids but sometimes his videos usually give no context on who the character is talking to/about so its easy to get confused. Skin Spotlights has vids with the champions voicelines and shows who they are talking to in the captions. They also show gameplay related voicelines too so theyre not perfect for the lore enthusiasts 😅

I add Necrit sometimes but I don't aim to add his video to all my videos as it'd sort of feel like I'm re-posting, also if I added Necrit video to this one it'd be very long so while it's cool sometimes I feel like not always

its quiet natural for you to think of arcane close to all the time but you should ceep in mind arcane is not canon (it's just roughly the canon story) i mean you hear "the girl that came back" and think of vi? the girl in question is kaisa and he was talking to kasidin aka her dad. your doing a good job learning about the champs before doing these reactions but arcane is a really insignificant story when compared whit the rest of runeterra (a good one but not majorly important) hope i don't come off as rude just thought you should know
I hate when people watch these voiceline videos without the captions saying who hes talking to. Sure. They do the music well. But you lost all context.
For example. The line where he said "It was all her fault." Was to jinx. And you had no idea because you keep going to a sub-par channel. When you're watching voicelines for lore, dont watch the one that makes you more confused after.

Swain might have much more connection with Jinx than many people think. Remember that Swain plans 100 steps ahead, and Jinx is causing basically a civil war between Piltover and Zaun, destabilizing their political structure and views basically shaking their entire society, and that could be perfect scenario for Noxus to "absorb" piltover and Zaun under their empire, making them the absolutely most powerful empire in Runaterra having access to Hexcrystals, hexgates, the best trade routes and technology. Obviously Swain would be interested in Jinx.
And i don't know if this is still cannon or not but long time ago there was a short story about Swain wanting to get his hands on a hextech machine called the Hextech Incognium, a machine capable of finding any person in Runaterra at all times. Unfortunately the creator "died under misterious circumstances" and noone knows how to use the machine so now it's just decoration.
