      Don’t add them to the vocal chain in that order but yes. Those are the ones

      IAMLXGEND would you recommend a blue yeti or blue yeti pro mic? I’m trying to start a bit more professional with a low bigot at the moment. I’m trying to start a home studio. If I just get the blue yeti then I don’t need an audio interface and stuff right? Just get the mic a pop filter, headphones and a mic stand. that’s about it right?

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Neither. USB Mics aren’t good. Get a Blue Ember and a Scarlett Solo.

      IAMLXGEND ok thanks I’ll look into it. Btw can you see if you can tell what I used to record this song? You don’t have to listen to the full thing only like ten seconds th-cam.com/video/gwsXf0-lmRg/w-d-xo.html

      I don’t know. Sounds like a low quality mic or iPhone headphones.

    I appreciate the step backwards to put this video out. Very helpful for those of us starting out. It's good to start with free shit and at least learn how to use it correctly before getting an upgrade. So many variables with the editing process. Great video, new fan btw. You're stuff is really refreshing, I'm excited to see what you accomplish in the future. Break a leg

    This is a great overview for beginners and should help a lot of folks getting started. But, I have a couple serious recommendations to switch up on your vocal chain: 1) Use subtractive EQ and de-essers before compression. You don't want bad frequencies going into your compressor. 2) Typically, as a part of subtractive EQ, it's recommended to add a low pass filter and completely cut anything below 100-150 Hz for vocals. If you're going to add tonal/additive EQ, do that after the compressor.

    • @IAMLXGEND
      @IAMLXGEND  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This video was more so just a list of tools to use to clean up vocals, it’s not how I actually lay out my vocal chain. I have that specified in other videos. I had a list of 5 plugins I wanted to highlight to clean, during filming I realized I forgot the desser, hence why it is so low on the chain.

    Hey king, u dropped this: 👑
    Thank u for making such educational videos! I really appreciate all these videos, i dont know how u dont have more subscribers! Your videos have inspired me to pursue making cover song videos :) after putting it aside because of how intimidating GarageBand seemed, u really motivated me to pick it back up and play around with GarageBand, stay safe and keep grinding 💪🏽

    Hey Bro, Usually I record vocals using any of the modes like "Classical", "Bright", "Compressed" etc, then do the plugin configurations, my output never comes clean. I will try to record raw and apply these settings, lets hope for the best, and I am using usb bluesnowball mic with decogear pop filter, lets see how it goes the next time, working on my first vocals from months, and not getting the desired results :P...Thanks for the videos !!

      @@skinnypat_ Bro Im having an issue with GarageBand. Im editing something that has multiple audio files. Every time I apply a plug-in to one of the audio files it changes the plug-ins for all the audio files. I want different audio files to have different effects. Is there a solution for this, I looked everywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

    I just discovered you and I have to say I really like your voice. I’m looking forward to listening to your music! From a fellow singer/songwriter to another!
    Learning to be my own engineer because it’s becoming very costly & being an independent artist cost 🤑
    Thanks again for this thorough video. I plan on learning more from your content 💜✨🤘🏽
