Legendary. There's a reason why these still go for big money.

The cloth seat are highly sought after since the leather ones didn’t hold up over time and need replacing

In my GenX voice - “ they don’t make cars like that used to!” 👈

The dash carpet protecting the plastic looks tacky, but it's functional! Can't knock it.

A lady named Ruth who worked at my now-defunct high school drove a Land Cruiser of that generation. It was dark green, and I believe it was the first vehicle I was in that had a CD player. This was in 2000.

Great video! Couple notes - 1. Manual FJ80 was not available in the US 2. 1992 wasn't the final year for no airbags. They were added in the 1995 MY 3. That small shift lever isn't actually for 4WD, but for the transfer case. The vehicle is always in 4WD but the center diff can be locked via that dash button you mention. That's what puts it in full 4WD mode

Both the 80 and 100 series were probably the best SUV’ ever made!

7:05 In australia, (maybe even in the US as well) you could also option a barn door rear trunk!

I was lucky enough to drive one new. They were slow at everything except absolutley eating through front and rear brakes every 10k miles lol. Sadly in the US, these spent 99.9% of thier time on suburban pavement.

I'm more of a 100 series fan, but the later 80 series are a very close second. This actually continued in most countries with the same mechanicals but the 100 series body (105 series). BTW, if you want the 80 series, you'd want to go for 1993-1997 models. They have more power from a new engine (1991 and 1992 models had the same engine from the 60 series) and front airbags (safety is important).

If you remove all the luxury features you would get a 2nd generation Isuzu trooper.

    Great vehicle and great review!
Finding an automatic is already a unicorn but I have never seen a manual 1992 Toyota LandCruiser. I highly doubt Toyota made it available in North America.
