    I built a farmhouse table for my daughter too! I also made benches to match. I used 2x6s for the top. Love my Kreg jig! Gotta get the HD attachment. Yes...glued & screwed pine...holds up quite well. I am a 64 year old grandma but it sure helps to watch you Ana. You were my first inspiration to learn woodworking! Thank you for making it so easy! I have used many of your patterns!

    2 suggestions and a question: To keep your drill straight you can hang a ring or a washer on your drill bit - if it starts to slide forward or backward you know you're tilting the drill - other suggestion is to put the base on the table top when its upside down, should be easier to attach I'd think. The one question, are you concerned about future cracks due to expansion and contraction over the years? With everything tightly bolted together there's no room for expansion and contraction. Not trying to nit-pick, just trying to understand ;-)

      I made a coffee table 4 years ago and the joints are invisible. Have to say that I live in Costa Rica and can't say if the weather difference would be a factor.

    Just wondering ... wouldn't it be better to use pocket screws from the ends of the table boards into the breadboard? That would seem stronger than screwing them into end-grain, wouldn't it?

  • @leosuniverse
    @leosuniverse 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Love it. The only problem I see is the end parts for a chair to eat. Is that enough room for chair with feet under it without hitting the bottom board? The one at pottery barn is the same. Odd. $1600. They show a picture with chair pushed in over the bottom board. I guess some ppl wouldnt care. My feet would be all over the board.

    Pottery Barn doesn’t do well at shipping to Wyoming either! My order was routed back and forth between larger metro-areas and actually passed by my town 3 times before arriving almost 4 weeks later. I feel the pain your friend is feeling! Your table is a beautiful solution and much cheaper 🥰

    can a chair be used at the ends ?

    • @leosuniverse
      @leosuniverse 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was just looking at that. Yes but not comfortably. I guess it's fine for guest situation. I see it being a trend at pottery barn. Another table similar dimensions they put the chairs front legs over the bottom board. But they have an extended version. So I guess per dimensions make it a little longer on each side. Looks like it flips up but idk. Probable not a hard addition. Maybe Ana might show how to do that one day. I like the table.

    Anna, I have a Dewalt table saw that has somehow gotten off. As I push a piece of wood along the fence as it gets to the far side of the fence the wood gets tight and the cut is no longer completely straight. It will be off by a hair. Do you have any idea what is wrong and can I correct it?

    Nice. Matthias Wandel would have a heart attack if he knew there was a heavy duty pocket hole attachment for the Kreg Jig. If you do not know the TH-cam giant, he hates pocket holes. I like all the gadgets Kreg has. I have a few of them. The table saw setup is cool!

    One thing I might add would be a board glued flat underneath behind the breadboard on both ends. Might be an option to think about.

    Just for fun. When you need to drill a horizontal hole free hand. Take a washer with a hole just a bit larger than your drill bit and slide it onto the drill bit up by the chuck. If it drifts towards the work peace lower the drill a bit, if it slides back toward the chuck raise the drill. Now you can focus on the right left orientation. Hope that helps. Really enjoy your site and love Delta! How's Jacobs shop coming?

    Hi Ana... Love ❤your work.....I'm a huge fan of your creative and simple designs, but this is so off the topic of this gorgeous table..... I just watched your tiny house video and I was blown away by how you managed to build what seems to be a very comfortable "spiral" staircase in such a tiny footprint. So, I was hoping that you have or can make a how to video on it's construction.

    Ana - I am almost done with my build. You say 2 inch screws to attach - did you use pocket hole again? or screw directly through to the tabletop? Plans were not clear there. Thanks so much for sharing your plans!!

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can do pocket holes along the inside of the aprons going upwards for attaching top, or you can just screw through the aprons into the tabletop with regular wood screws.

    Came out awesome, super nice work! I love the look of the angle you put on the legs; I’m always drawn to the trestle table style and I’ve been getting super repetitive with it, psyched to make one something like yours! I see that you made this a couple years ago, do you know how the joints along the ends of the table are holding up? Lovely to watch, thanks for posting!

    Great job on the table. The first project I made for my wife 2 years ago was a farmhouse style table that would be outside on our deck. I had never built anything like that before and I had only a picture to go by with no measurements for either the table top or the trestle style legs. I used 2 x 8 pressure treated pine lumber from the orange company and used pocket holes and glue to hold the boards together as you did. Anyway your table is great and gave me ideas on how to do my next try much better. Love your channel!
