i apreciate the narators who gave their time for free . most of them speak in clear well pronounced english .i am english and i am sure if i complained about someone with a foreign accent reading i would be acused of racism .as i have said before if you dont like it dont listen. IT IS FREE AFTERALL.

The accent of the narrator and clear element of rhosticism is no reason to poke fun at said narrator, the story itself however is a fine example of Lovecraft's view of the cosmos and the lurking horrors that exist within. Enjoy the story itself or fine another Audiobook to listen to.
I wish I could find a better reading, and I have searched... this particular affectation of spoken English is unpleasant to me.

After reading the first comment, that people were unkind, I decided to listen. I think it is better to be an outsider. It is not the voice that counts, but how the story is narrated, then the story comes alive. Many of our best singers do not have the stereotype good voice. Many mocked Greg Marguerite, who was a great guy. The voice grows on you as you listen.
It is in the passion. better to be an outsider like our friend H P Lovecraft. I am 7 mins in and it sounds great.

I have something to say to all the moaners on this thread complaining about the narrators pronunciation of her Rs....which i find really attractive , and not at all distracting , balanced as it is with clear well expressed reading , are you at all aware of how badly narrated some readings are? To seriously complain when this is Free , clear and audible at least , is ungrateful and unnecessary. one last word ....LIBRAVOX???!!

MrDirzel ;-) Too many wonderful stories are spoiled by terrible Libravox readers eh?!! I find Morgan Scorpions voice very relaxing and easy on the ear. Some people are just too quick to complain about anything and it irritates me when its unnecessary . I have listened to hundreds of audio books over the past 18mths as I was ill and in bed a lot....so I felt very grateful to the readers that kept me entertained.

You pronounce R's in a way I've never heard before o: not in a bad way though, but because I've never heard it before it sounded kinda funny to me.
I appreciate the narration a lot though.
I just can't get into this one. I have this trouble with Lovecraft... repetitive technical details. It seems as if it would be VERY difficult to bring life into this, but the reading is marvelously varied and alive. Too bad about the story!

Though I find the voice incredibly cute and adorable, I do agree with the fact that narrating audio books should really be avoided. Mainly so be cause I had a stupid smile all trough the story...an aledged scary story.

To elaborate: The protagonist is incredibly dumb. I love this story, but every other audio version tries to make you relate to him. I relate to him in your version, but more like I relate to my cats. Awww.... you're a dumbass, still like you. You read it in an academic/passive style that fits it perfectly.
Then I as a male, will prolly accidentally put myself on fire, yet again.
Feel like I owe you a congratulations on making one related to the least relatable character Lovecraft ever made :)

Would you prefer ebonics? A famous English commentator who also has rhoticism is Lucy Worsley. I thoroughly enjoy her narrations and even find it a bit charming.
