    • @BitJam
      @BitJam ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Currently you can only order MY Long Range and Performance from their web site. These are not being made with 4680 batteries. I doubt 4680 production will ramp up quickly enough for these batteries to be used for MYLR and MYP in the next 6 months. I presume 4680 production difficulties are what is causing the Austin Gigafactory to hemorrhage money right now.
      Last summer I followed Ryan's advice. I didn't delay buying in hopes of getting 4680 batteries (MY production with 4680 was supposed to start in late 2021). The delivery time was less than a month and the price was $13K less than it is now. I will always be grateful to Ryan for this advice.

    Hey Ryan! Great videos and loaded with info. I bought my Model Y in June 2020. I have a RivianR1T on order since last year and will sell our last ICE age car our much loved 2019 Subaru Forester whenever it arrives. I keep hearing about our EVs taking money away from federal funding for roads via gas taxes. I know I want to pay my fair share. I would love to see the 4 billion bucks in oil subsidies withdrawn and a windfall tax on their price gouging. That would likely pay for EV shares as well as make it possible for the dwindling Fossil fuel burning ICE age ICE=Internal Combustion Engine) cars. How about some facts about that transition here in the US?

  • @stevemartin171
    @stevemartin171 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    As a Canadian with a Y on order (current delivery out to April 2023), I do find myself hoping that when my car arrives, it will be with the 4680 batteries. For this to happen, Tesla will either have to start making 4680 cars out of Fremont or shipping cars to Canada/West coast USA from Texas. Do you think either of these scenarios are likely to happen, Ryan?

    • @karmadrone6647
      @karmadrone6647 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can try putting /inventory-swap at the end of your RN number to see if you can swap out for a 4680. Try multiple times a week, if nothing is available, it just returns back to your dashboard/home screen.

    There is not a single business reason for Tesla to advertise in any medium. It can be argued that to change direction and start advertising would actually be detrimental to the company. Keep doing what you’re doing Elon, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

    • @vangildermichael1767

      {if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.}. I live by that logic. But in order to live (by any logic), one needs to understand that logic, completely. (if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.) until the situation changes. (Sitting here in my room on my butt) is "working", that I am happy. UNTIL the house catches fire. THEN I need to "change it". The world has just (in my analogy caught fire). There are a dozen different kinds of electric cars. True, they are all shit. But, point is, the situation has changed. It's time to look at my course of action. Maybe (advertising) will turn out to be a dead end road. It probably will. But, it would be (presumptuous) not to try it. Just for "funzies".

      I would be shocked if prices came down, if ever. All the comments from current owners saying "yay, my Tesla is gaining in value", would very quickly turn on a dime on Tesla if the prices ever dropped since the value of their own vehicles would be wiped out as well - and I get the feeling the company knows that at some level, seeing how the CEO is on twitter and sees comments like that. Let's add to the way they currently take orders: new customers are locked in at a certain price and it stays that way unless they change their order. So let's say you pay for the basic price, which is ~$58k and you aren't financing it. You take delivery of it but then Tesla drops the price to ~$50k. I'd say you'd be pretty pissed since you've spent an extra $8k for nothing, and would not see that excess being returned to you if you decided to sell your car, only unless prices went back up.
      The only way Tesla will ever be able to offer a product at a competitive price again vs let's say Kia, would be to introduce a new product that is substantially lower in price. However since he's bent on trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist with the driverless car, I doubt that would even happen. Prices have gone up far too much to bring them back down again in the next year. Wouldn't surprise me if the Y alone became a $65k vehicle by EOY for the base model, with approaching $70k the next.

      Tesla have shot themselves in the foot here. Other 'legacy' car makers have the freedom to update and change their external designs with each new release, to respond to what customers liked or didnt like with the previous look. With the way Telsa have done it, they would have to pay for a whole new mould just to accommodate any changes, which I doubt they will do for years. They are stuck with the current design that they have.

    Testing at 52mph? WTH! Come on. Normal freeway speeds with at least 300 miles of range with A/C are needed. Speed limit is 85mph in some areas. Your 300 becomes 200 miles of range at those speeds with A/C. Sad we don't have more range yet. For road trips in some areas we still need ICE cars. Like Great Basin National Park for example.

      I have the model Y now and there isn’t much of a difference. The main differences are the trunk cover and ryzen processor (quicker screen than previous model Y’s). Also, the overall quality seems better (paint and body lines). It did have some issues though: steering wheel is sticking in one place, the driver door needs to be slammed to close, and the trunk sounds like something is cracking when it opens. I have an appt scheduled so those should all be fixed soon if the parts are in stock

    I love that the Mercedes test car went 750 miles. I would argue that Much range is necessary because if we want to convince the world to switch from ICE cars to electric, range is a huge factor. Not a person out there thinking about buying electric doesn't have some form of range anxiety. Range = freedom! It's about what people want, not what they need to get buy.

      It's not that anyone's going to sit in a car for 14 hours... it's just the idea that you could if you wanted to. Selling cars to Americans has always been about excessiveness. Excessive luxury, power, speed, handling, gadgets... You're not gonna drive your plaid 150 miles an hour everyday, but you could if you wanted to. The same goes for range. Love your videos. keep it up!

      That is a really bad reason for adding so much range to an EV. As Elon said, extremely long range sacrifices: resources, price, handling, and efficiency. There are much better ways to educate the public. Getting into an extremely long range war would actually be a form of miseducation.

    Tesla would definitely benefit from having a PR department, but unless it is hurting in sales (which it obviously isn’t), spending $$$ on advertising would be both superfluous and wasteful. Elon can still remain as Tesla’s spokesman, while its PR department would be largely responsible for damage control from any negative press. Other bloggers/vloggers are currently taking up the slack, but their influence is still limited compared to what a PR department would have.

    750 miles at 52mph, means 450+ miles at Autobahn speeds of 120mph. That is why range of “750 miles” is important to Germans. Same for me, my Plaid+ was canceled, current Plaid or even LR is not enough range at common 75-80 interstate USA speeds. Let alone 85+ in northern states and Texas. Range is king. Regardless of Elon Musk changing his mind. The Cyber Truck better have 650-700mi range fully unloaded and running EPS cycle in order to have 400 mile range towing a boat or trailer. Or I will take my earlier CT orders and sell them right after purchase.
