    Your washboard road test is brilliant! I have a 2020 ram 1500, and its cabin is rattle-free on imperfect caliche roads. I'm surprised that Toyota's new halo truck is so unrefined on rough roads.

      I hear the ram cabin is really well put together.

      He must have a lemon one because mine feels amazing just like my Honda Ridgeline!

    There is a reason I upgraded to a 2021 Tundra. The redesign fell short of a lot of expectations. Turbos are the way of the future but putting the 10 speed transmission on the proven 5.7L V8 might've done a better job with MPGs and overall reliability. Awesome review as always.

      Agree v8 with 10spd trans would have been best truck setup. Reason why I bought a Frontier....no turbo just a v6 and 9spd. Even the new Chevy Colorado s are now 4 cylinder turbo only......sad

      I get 19 to 22 mpg, that's weird

      @@artemusburton7011 I'm happy to hear. There are a few people I know with the new Tundras who aren't getting close to that. For the price, in my opinion, I'm not paying that for a V6.

    It's a gorgeous looking truck. Toyota reliability would have me picking this over an ecoboost without a doubt.

    You do the best reviews. I regret trading my 21 tundra for a 22 because of the handling on the washboard road.

    375k on my 14 Tundra. Still zero rattles. Turbo 6 and hearing the interior rattles will have me keep pushing for 1 million. Hopefully they work out the kinks in a year or two.

      turbo engines are a great technology
      it just needs premium fuel and fully synthetic oil

    I live in the heavily populated NE with the roads & highways packed, knowing I have a truck with a “top safety plus” rating for my family is real worth. So if you prefer to trade safety for fuel mileage stick with the Ford, Maverick.

    Thanks so much for the review and assistance in my decision. Have heard some things about the new model that are concerning ( like people going weeks with it being in the shop) . I do think that's something that can happen in a completely new model, but until the kinks are worked out. Will be going with the previous generation. Like you said, that thing is as solid as a tank and if the fuel economy is the same then I say go V8!

    As far as the MPGs go, that's just physics, it's a big heavy truck that requires lots of energy to move.

    I spent $58,300 for my TRD off-road SR5. When compared to the competition the Toyota was the best value, that being said I felt spending more on any other version of this Tundra was definitely not for me. Spending more then I would have gone HD.

  • @petevincent74

    Sure hope you’ll consider running the same test on the TRD off-road version. Wondering if that washboard road test yields different results.

    Good video, surprised how poorly it did on the washboard and fuel eco.

  • @brenthill3241
    @brenthill3241 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The whole point of the new design including losing the V8 was that there was a much stiffer frame and smoother more controlled chassis.
    Not yet I guess.
    Fuel mileage 30% less than advertised and reports have said that even the hybrid lacks the low end grunt of the eight.
    All for 86 K Canadian?
    And finally its going to push that reputation for long lasting quality when you ask a 213 cubic incher to take even more heat and pressure than the old 5.7.
    We will wait and see over the next year or two if refinements can be found.

  • @Dbailey981

    Since these new ones cannot handle a snowplow (due to the turbo charged engine) I'll not be getting another Tundra. I've had 3 but they've gone in a new direction I guess.

    Get rid of the fancy suspension stuff and go back with 17 inch wheels that at least have a 70 or 75 series tire and a 255 with an a Corsa set of rancho RS 5000 ex shocks

  • @ericbuchta9765
    @ericbuchta9765 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ya I like the old one better. It really sucks looking back on the old stuff. The quality of engineering was you get what you pay for. Now days it cost 20$ to have a I pad built in china and turn around and re invent the wheel and charge us 20 grand for it in our vehicle.
    I am a big truck guy. I watch all cars and trucks and you can see things that resemble a ford. The door handles the 6 cylinder. You may as well buy a ford. Another thing is the 4 link in the rear, that has Dodge written all over it. It is proven to be cheep and will not last. All brands are driving the prices out of sight.
    Again nothing to offer in my opinion. When I see the steering go back to gear box and torsion bars and properly angled spindles. Until then I’m going to drive cars because trucks give you the car like experience with a big price tag. I can save my money and drive a car.
    Pricing is awesome, I love how I got my 2021 platinum for 54 grand and now they are 75 grand. Lol kick Toyota Costomer’s right in the nuts. Good job Toyota.
