I experienced my first Adult Ballet Summer Intensive last week! I attended Allison DeBona and Rex Tilton's artÉmotion Summer Intensive held at the Ballet West studios in Salt Lake City! I just started ballet this year and am doing a mini ballet summer intensive at Les Grands Ballets in Montreal. Still a beginner but hope to get to level III by the fall. This summer intensive looks amazing and I hope to be able to do something like this some day. Thanks for documenting it for us.

Great video! Someday I would like to make it out there to do this, but New York is so much closer for me. Hoping NYCB does theirs again next year. My husband and I met in a bell choir too!!!
Omg no way! That's so cool!! Probably a very small percentage of couples who met in bell choir :) I REALLY hope NYCB does their adult intensive again next year or even later this year b/c I will FOR SURE be there!

Me also. I just turned 40, but agree that most of the dancers looked in the 20s and 30s.
That's a great question and I would love to know for sure! There were definitely some people there in their 40s, and I think a couple in their 50s and maybe one in their 60s? Majority in their 30s I would say.
Wow, that experience looks incredible! I look forward to trying to come next year. Would you say the intermediate level was right for you? How would you also go about placing oneself in a level for the intensive because I did not see any guidelines on the website? Just wanting to gain an idea for myself and others who may be curious. Lastly, what was the name of that special roller that your friend had?
Hi Alyssa! Intermediate was great, but I also would have been fine in Advanced! Just wasn't sure about the levels either and didn't want to be in over my head. You can switch around with your level classes, which is a nice option to either challenge yourself or pull back where needed during the week. Getting info on the roller and will share that!

This looks so much fun. I have no aspirations to ever go on pointe, but it would be fun to try once. How long was this intensive. I take ballet for my figure skating and just subscribed:).

@@BallerinasByNight There's lots of figure skating content online. Unfortunately I have no desire to create any content myself. I know so many skaters who have taken dance or dancers who have started skating. The two disciplines are very interconnected and compliment each other. There are many adult skating programs in both the U.S and Canada. I encourage you to consider giving skating a try:).
Hi Jana! You look like you had a wonderful time, although the emphasis was definitely on the word "intensive"! :D I think if it had been too easy though, you would have felt cheated. :)
You make a really good point, Paula! :) I've been worried the entire video is just me whining about being tired haha. Next intensive I can work a little harder on being more specific with my experience details! :)

So I am wondering if you would recommend this experience, and I am also wondering if there is a beginner track? I would love to do an experience like this, but what you were doing looks too difficult for my level. Thanks for sharing!
They do have a beginner track! There is definitely a broad range of experience, even within groups. (Hope you don't mind me answering; it was my first time attending and I had a lot of fun, even if I was kind of exhausted by the end lol)
