He became a superstar and for me personally, the best voice ever from Mexico. He had hit after hit after hit. Life, corrupt managers, drugs and alcohol took a toll on his career and voice. It got to a point where he could not sing again. But that one evening in 1970, that festival launched him to superstardom.
The songwriter, Jose Cantoral, wrote this song about the death of his mother. Jose Jose himself said that no one would ever sing this song the same way, not even himself. This is truly a magical moment that we're lucky we can experience because it was recorded. No autotune, no editing, just pure talent.
