This podcast helped me realize that I don't need to make money from my art & to stop focusing on what others might think of it in order to sell it. It makes it more fun and enables me to put more love and passion into it! Thanks bros
I felt this one so much (about monetizing what you love). I used to love creative photography, and I would seek to capture art on film. Then I was in a photography club, which led me to start shooting for the monthly competition theme instead of for the enjoyment. Then while working as a technical writer, I started shooting informational pictures for our documentation and shot over 28,000 photos in 10 years. I don't love photography anymore. I had previously had offers to shoot weddings and a quinceanera, but turned them down (and they would have been huge payouts) because I didn't want to turn my love of photography into a simple job. I didn't realize that the job I had was already doing that.
Think definitely comes with age and reading more and more about the science behind health. And especially with alcohol and realising you can feel so much better. Yes it takes a long time but its nice not having the constant mood swings and just being consistent with it
7:30 - 8:30 This is so true. It's hard to see it at first, but once you seem to improve your life, you will see that not all of your so-called closed ones are actually happy for you. Not that they should now get happy for whatever happens good in your life, but you can see that some actually get annoyed by that. Once you project a better version of yourself, you can find out that people were only seeking your hard moments just to feel better or validated. As Mark said, once you realise this, you're better off if you take some distrance from such people.
This is so true for me. I had "friends" who showed up instantly when I was desperate and down, but would completely disappear when I wanted to celebrate a success. We need friends who are there in the good times as well. Sharing accomplishments with someone feels so good!
For anyone not aware the timestamps are in the description: 00:52 Question #1: How well am I treating my body, and why? 08:36 Question #2: Who am I spending my time with, and why? 16:51 Question #3: What have you been working on, and why?
@@xolalalo Yeah, i feel we forget sometimes depression has a purpose, and if your life is a mess (literally or spiritually), no shit you're depressed because that's the function of depression, its an important signal something is wrong. When you turn to drugs for numbing those signals I fear you may become blind to whats wrong in your life. whenever I'm drepessed I assess if these 3 pillars are in harmony.
I am super lucky because my job pays pretty well and it is very practical. And then my hobby is being rewarded, not with payment, but with perks. As in, to "work" in my hobby I get more opportunity to enjoy of my hobby, so there is literally zero stakes on the line to do that hobby well. So naturally, I want to do as best as I can, so I can keep going. The goal of that reward is not getting as much as possible, but is to keep coming back to the hobby =D
Close abusive relationships destroy and distort the entire world. I started caring about these 3 things during Covid, and it aint been all sunshine and rainbows for 3.5 years, but hoo boy it sure has been a ton better than the previous 30 something. Still need to make some more professional connections, but I have a great group of friends these days. Makes all the difference in the world.
I tend to disagree with your stance on finding what you are good at vs finding something you are passionate about. I am an engineer; I have gotten very good at it (I now run my own company) but it still doesnt fulfill me because I'm not passionate about it and I don't feel like I am making a difference in people's life. Simply getting better at it doesn't solve the problem..

You know there are different types and severity of depression, right? Exercise will always help but walking around the block not going to do it for many people with depression. Please be more responsible.
still applies to other depressions though and these are just good things to have in order to live a better life, even tough there's no guarantee to cure it. it may still help a lot of people
He said it has the same likelihood as helping as medication. Medication isn't curing depression and also doesn't work for everyone so he didn't say anything irresponsible. He presented a fact from an interesting study
If you are depressed and you're not exercising at all, you should definitely exercise as much as you can and see what happens instead of just believing that exercise does not apply because you have "super depression". Go lift some heavy weights and run some sprints and see what that does for ya.
Just wanna say, I tuned in to this as I was queueing up for late night McDonald's drive thru and I left without buying anything. Thanks bro 👍🏻

Health, Work, Relationships! Get all these in balance before turning to prescriptions.
Yes! I am so exasperated by the prescription drug peddling.

@@TheSubtleArtofNotGivingaFck Thanks Mark/Drew!
Mark your mouth wasn't dirty enough today.
In 2019, you looked more Charming, young and glowy. The thread off of losing fats is that it wrinkles your skin.

I love your ideas and content but goddamn man you look terrifying on these thumbnails lol, kinda badass though

Or, there are people who are far too depressed to even get out of bed!
