The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a 1998 action-adventure game by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. It was released in Japan and North America in November 1998. The game is the first in The Legend of Zelda series with 3D graphics. The player controls Link in the realm of Hyrule on a quest to stop the evil king Ganondorf by traveling through time and navigating dungeons and an overworld. The game introduced features such as a target-lock system and context-sensitive buttons, which have since become common in 3D adventure games. The player must play songs on an ocarina to progress.
For beating the Water Temple blindly without getting stuck at all (this dungeon is one of the most infamous in the entire Zelda series for being tricky) I award Lil Indigestion the Nayru Goddess of Wisdom Certificate of Merit! Congratulations!
I know it is infamous in the community, but it never really bothered me. I didn’t get exceptionally stuck at any point through it on my first run either
@ well I sure did. I remember being in elementary school and this prompting me to search online for how to beat a part of a game for the first time. Shoutout to those old text guides from GameFAQs!

It was one of the very first 3D games and the spacial skills were not so developed.
Like me, many had to play it in a language we didnt speak, which added an extra layer of difficulty throughout the game

It's really not HARD. It's just really tedious since you have to backtrack a lot.

I always figured Sheik ran out of deku nuts to stun you with so he tried to hop away sneakily and you weren't supposed to see that😆
He was probably in the village to buy more deku nuts.

I think it's just that Shiek knew the area was too large and you'd unfreeze before he could get away, so he didn't bother to use it
@@NikkiTheViolistyeah, that was my assumption. Theres nowhere to hide or disappear to during the flash. Just a huge open area where Link could watch him run/swim off. Better to wait for Link to look the wrong way first.

Back in Episode 5 I commented about something I was frustrated about something that happened in that episode but I blamed it more on Nintendo than on Ryan. That was the thing that frustrated me. You correctly took the ocarina out in front of Malon, but you where one step out of her trigger range so it didn't register and then you gave up and left. So I'm happy you came back and tried again!
The way he barely missed the golden skulltula on the tree twice 💀 Was so happy he heard it at the last second.
Now that you finished the temple, i gotta say. Dark Link would've been way more memorable as the big boss of the temple instead of the red ball.
It seems like every episode you reach a point I've been excited for you to reach. I'll never forget seeing Kakariko Village at this point for the first time and how shocking it was. Can't wait to see you take on the next challenge!

Something really funny about how Talon is just permanently standing up on the bed ever since you woke him up.
Man im proud of Ryan. I had my doubts, but he's learned the game well and nailed zeldas most notorious temple.
Finally learning Eponas Song!!! Like 800 episodes ago you pressed the ocarina button in front of Malon, but you were like two pixels too far away from her so it didn't trigger the dialog that teaches you the song. I think everyone went crazy about that and also the fact that you only tried the ocarina ONCE!!! ONLY ONCE!!! And then NEVER tried it again. This was another yelling at the screen moment for a lot of people I think. AAAahhhHHH 😀

I keep seeing comments saying "I didn't know x, y, or z in this game until Ryan (probably accidentally) did it", and every time I'm like "not me, I knew that".
Well now it's finally happened to me. I didn't know that you can jump attack with the hammer to hit that crystal switch. I only knew the way all of us except Ryan knows.

I’ve got to say-I was one of those of little faith when it comes to this dungeon, as it’s notorious for being challenging. You nailed this. Chapeau!
Finally he saved... I was getting anxiety about that.
17:00 I hadn't realized that probably the reason for the camera pan is as Ryan identified, but also Shiek's entire thing with diving into the water forces multiple shots with the puzzle in frame, is the camera just subtly screaming at the player "LOOK OVER HERE, YES THIS, POINTING AT IT, SEE, THE WATER ROSE, YOU CAN GO OVER HERE, COME CHECK IT OUT HMMMMM??? LOOKIT THAT LEDGE YOU CAN GRAB ONTO IT NOW, DON'T FORGET, BIG WATER RISING MEANS YOU CAN DO FIGURE THIS PUZZLE OUT NOW, YESSIR" And they even redirect the player's camera towards it, AND set the scene at dawn. It would seem like Nintendo REALLY went out of their way to direct the player to pay attention to this puzzle.

You don't even need the fire arrows to beat the game. There are a couple puzzles that are clearly intended to be most easily solved with the fire arrows, but they have alternate glitchless solutions. So they really put a lot of effort into making sure you notice the puzzle that gets you this... completely optional item. Honestly, it's probably just because they thought it was a cool puzzle, and they were right. 🏹☀
13:53 this makes me so sad how much he doesn’t like Ruto. She’s a character that deserves so much more. Sure as a kid she annoyed the player a bit but she simply acted her age, which is the same age as the player.
Best fish Waifu ever. At least BOTW praises her for her historic impact on the zora race.

What a fun episode. It's been a long time since I played this game. I had forgotten the context of the thumbnail. Such a cool thing to see his reactions. Again I think Ryan and Link are kindred spirits as their facial expressions are Linked.

But, second, I’m finding it hard to believe that a single person watching this playthrough would have heard him say the boss room of the water temple reminded him of the Waterblight Ganon fight room and been upset. Is that a spoiler? I suppose so. But THIS playthrough is a spoiler. THAT playthrough was a spoiler.
Ryan is obsessed with avoiding spoilers as part of his brand and play style. But I’m finding it impossible to believe there’s anyone watching this that will be spoiled by Ryan making connections to the few other games he’s played. I mean, seeing him blossoming into a competent Zelda player that notices patterns across the franchise is a major reason I watch him. So I feel a bit robbed when he avoids verbalizing these connections, and I know I’m not alone.
People have made several similar comments. But I have yet to see a comment on one of his videos saying, “Aw! I wish he hadn’t spoiled that for me.” Much like an R.O.U.S., I don’t believe they exist. 🤷♂️

Someone else could confirm (and I meant to say something way back in ep1) but it's kind of like the port of the game is spoilering itself there in a way that impacts new players! Don't know if a mod wants to flag it up to Ryan if he doesn't see this!

Those time records were definitely in the original game. It's just easy to miss it, because your home has lots of junk you can't interact with.

When he decided not to pay him to try again, I flipped out and said that he's just never getting her.
Ryan or community, do you guys have a list of the ryanisms :D They produce a great deal of entertainment so that list would be valuable :D
I tend to just watch his TH-cam videos but I'd say one of the most common things he tends to do is to have the right idea about something than one of two things happen:
1. He gets distracted and loses focus on his idea then tries literally every possible other way of doing it except for his original idea and comes to the conclusion that he can't do it and leaves.
2. He tries the correct solution but some extraneous circumstance that he doesn't know about prevents the solution from actually taking effect, so he concludes that it isn't the correct solution. (An example of this is in episode 5 of this playthrough, he tried to learn Epona's Song by correctly presuming to play the ocarina in front of Malon while she was singing... but he was ever so slightly out of range, so the game didn't trigger the song event... this caused him to conclude that playing the ocarina wasn't the correct solution.)

I've never seen the the Water Temple boss before but it seemed a bit underwhelming. Still a banger dungeon though
It does do high damage when it hits; but it's definitely a softball since its at the back of an often extremely confusing dungeon

Ryan has been writing down all of the ocarina songs and referencing them frequently throughout the playthrough. I think he admitted he just doesn't have a strong knack for remembering them
